The rainbow in the horizon at the final heat..... Anybody cough it on video..?? It felt like Andy was there to let us know. AMAZING..... I was there. Thanks for the video.
I remember in the '80's when Tom Curran was on top..this new kid Kelly Slater came along and many said that this kid from Cocoa Beach, Florida could never surf the BIG waves......He is the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest (at age 38) to win the title! Can't wait to see him in 2020!
@MakairaSeeker that gave me goosebumps... that minute of silince with the sound of the waves and everyone mind surfing them was amazing... RIP Andy the man
@kitestance Right...... The rainbow in the horizon was during the minute of silence before the final heat. Can't still believe it. GOOSEBUMPS. We were there Broda. Best to you forever.
It's sad that the mainstream sports world doesn't give Kelly his due. He's the shining example of good sportsmanship. His level of excellence is unmatched and he still remains gracious and humble. As a sports fan, I'm embarrassed by the immaturity, selfishness and arrogance that most top pro athletes display. And none can hold a candle to the great Kelly Slater.
great edition, the best atlet of all times, much more than PELE, JORDAN, WOODS, BABE RUTH, SHUMAKER, SENA. ótima edição, o melhor atleta de todos os tempos, bem mais do que....
Untouchable. I don't care what anyone says, just because surfing doesn't have as much media attention as other sports, Kelly Slater is quite possibly the greatest athlete alive
Being that I was there for the competition unlike most of you commenting on this. Kelly did the worst surfing in the 3rd round where I and many others there thought he had lost that round when in fact in the end him somehow had a higher score. He was outsurfed on the 3rd round and I'm sure even he himself would agree. All the rounds after that though he was by far the best surfer in the water and deserved all the praise we all gave him. Jordy had a really crappy 5th round and lost because of it.
Really astonishing. Andy Irons dies in Dallas after leaving Puerto Rico. 5 days later, Kelly obtains in the same tournament his 10th World Title. Casuality? KARMA
Cosmick, don't you know how many T-shirts and hats go wasted each year from sports teams that don't win the championship? Don't be such a kook. Besides, Kelly didn't even surf any heats against Jordy in this comp. What are ya, from Riverside?!
Took my 9 yr daughter to the event at Middles. Super fun until Taylor Knox smiled then backpaddled Zoe on a nice set wave during the layday. Think Taylor fell off the Tour shortly thereafter. Karma will get ya.
