Kirsten i know this house very well i helped my father put a knew stone tile roof on it in 1978 with the company we both worked for we also re tiled many of the cottages in the village we did a lot work for the national Trust as we specialised in cotswold stone roofing we also did a lot of the churches around the cotswolds it still makes me feel very proud to haved worked on these lovely buildings with such a good crafts man as my father and they are still as good as knew now 40 years later, best wishes roy, from the village of quenington in gloucestershire .
I always admire how they arrange all the different beautiful fabrics, tapestry, curtains and pictures, so that in the end they manage to create harmony and peace. Stunning.
It's so gorgeous. I have a rectangular Stawberry Thief tablecloth, and I bought it online. The one I got is in the green background and it's water resistant. Hope you can find the size and colourway you want. Mine brings me joy every time I look at it 🙂
I apologize for my English, I am an Italian painter ( Giuliano Piancastelli ) and I have always loved the United Kingdom. Watching your videos is a real gift. I love all the places you visit. Certainly in a previous life of mine I was English, because England is always in my heart, so much so that I transformed my house into a Victorian mansion. With your videos you make me dream...thank you! You are two beautiful souls!
I'm American (Tennessee) with English ancestors from way back, on both sides. Maybe that's why I love England so much? It's in my heart and soul. I was able to visit once. I cried all the way home.
What a lovely visit we've had today. I've heard tale of the Cotswolds. It is every bit as charming as I had imagined. What a treat to view the home of William Morris and see his own prints incorporated in fabrics, furnishings and wallpaper. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you.
I have been watching your program for a while now, but have never left a comment because I watch on the big screen. I have to be honest with you both, what a beautiful loving couple 👫 you are. You my dear lady leave me speechless your one in a million, a real lady. And your husband who just adores you. God has bless you both, ❤ you both bring smiles and a odd tear to my face thank you. From the bottom of the world New Zealand thank you and Blessings be yours. Jonina
Kirsten's genuine excitement is adorable 😊 Joerg is like the technology guru with a great sense of comedic timing 😀 I throughly so much enjoyed this William Morris tour and the history lesson ❤
❤🎉🎉❤ I have to read up on William Morris now. Thank you again gor a lovely and enchanting time. It was my lucky day when I discovered your page. Be well. BE SAFE. ENJOY IT ALL.
Wieder ein so schönes Video. Danke euch beiden. 😊
We visited back in June this year when the weather was fabulous. We had a great day, all the people who worked there were so lovely, very knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. A beautiful property. Look forward to going again soon. 😊
Kirsten your excitement and giddiness was so palpable. It is lovely to witness. We are off to the Cotswolds again later this month for a week. We will definitely visit Kelmscott Manor. We are in the final stages of refurbishing our Scottish house, so I need the inspiration.
Dear Kirsten and Joerg, hello my sweet friends. How beautiful William Morris's country house was. The details in it! Stunningly beautiful. How gorgeous the Cotswolds look. Another destination on my dream wish list.😊 Kirsten your looking so lovely and Joerg always dashing. Thankyou both so much for showing us some amazing background history of William Morris and his family. And those charming village's in the Cotswolds. And what glorious weather you had too. 🌳💮🌼🌸🌞🏡
Sitting here in my comfy recliner as I recover from knee surgery. Watching your videos is just what was needed to give me some peace and bring some beauty into my life. Thank you so much, Kirsten and Joerg!
Read a reprint of Charles Eastlake's Hints on Household Taste in the nineteen-seventies that featured William Morris patterns. Thank you for the lovely tour.
Exploring all things William Morris and Rossetti in the Cotswolds! It doesn't get any better than that! Thank you so much for the tour of the Manor, the gardens, the cemetery and the surrounding villages. I just love the medieval High streets in English villages! There are so many quirky and unique shops and eateries.
How beautifully simple the house interiors are, and as for that garden full of flowers...so dreamy! Oh my God! I had to add how gorgeous that old street is! One of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
This video was particularly wonderful.. Loved learning more about William Morris and his family and seeing his summer home. At the end of the video you were driving down a village street and I was saying to myself that’s got to be Burford. Was so fun when it actually was! It’s a beautiful village (or small town!) We have been there a couple of times.. It’s stayed with me. Thank you!!! ❤️ Beverlee
Kirsten and Jörg, you've made my day. It' s so cold outside, however, you bring sunshine to my heart and calm my soul. Thank you very much for again such a delightful video....❤
Yes!!
Kelmscott is already on my “to do” list but your wonderful filming has made me even more determined to visit very soon. Kirsten, your real excitement and joy at being there were almost palpable, I’m just sad to see you walk away empty handed from the shop!
We can so recommend it! Yes, luckily we found the tablecloth online as they only had one round left in the shop. It was the only item we really really wanted.
Oh my, another wonderful adventure! I love William Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti! I am amazed at how perfectly their work complemented each other. The trustees did an amazing job bringing that home to life. I did notice that when you were in the bright attic that there were no curtains on any of the windows; the maid was not expected to sleep in.
Oh Kirsten and Joerg, We just arrived home and found your Kelmscott Manor post. I am transported to our trip in 2011. This village was our first stop on our way from Heathrow. We had dropped our bags at our lodging and were looking for dinner. We stumbled upon the pub, called The Plough at Kelmscott. The food was very good and we waited first at those tables in the front garden. People talked with us and when they asked where we were staying we said Rowlease cottage , one man said "oh my Mother grew up there." When we had pulled into the property, a farm on a larger estate (can't recall its' name) a fox stuck its' head out of the trees surrounding the car park as if to greet us. A pheasant always trotted across the front garden. The drive was really bumpy but we made it in and out past a cricket pitch used by the community. Was right out of Midsomer Murders. Can you believe I never made it back to the Kelmscott Manor. We spent alot of time looking for meals and getting lost driving ourselves around the region. I am so grateful for your visit because I always feel like I have been there with you because I think you and Joerg always notice and show just what we would be interested in. We did spend one day in Burford and I loved all the shops. I still wanted a red pair of shoes I saw and I loved the china animals and other crafts. There is one wonderful place for tea that we missed and I'm trying to remember what their specialty was. I have heard about it in vlogs since then. We went on from there and finally reached Blenheim after they closed but the guards took pity on us and let us roam around the grounds as there was a wedding taking place inside and so there were many wedding guest in the grounds, no one noticed us. Kirsten there is a company here in the states called Ruggables. They now have a line out based on William Morris designs. The rugs come with a pad and you can remove the rug and even wash it. Not sure how well this works but I am investigating for our new home in North Carolina which is loosely in the Craftsman style. I have my eye on the Strawberry Thief in the blue and green version for our entryway. I had more to share but again thank you for sharing your visit, I had so much fun watching and remembering our time there.
Oh such amazing memories, thank you so much for sharing this. I think The Plough at Kelmscott is such a lovely pub, I looked it up. Yes, we saw that Ruggable has William Morris designs and they look amazing - we might get a rug for our house.
Kirsten, I'm with you. I adore the William Morris prints, fabrics, wallpaper and all of his creations. I would love to do my whole home with his designs!!😊
It was much joy seeing some of Morris' works! I like his art and bought myself a tray designed by him - in the gift shop of Hever Castle. Some of the places you visit won' t have looked much different 100 + years ago. Thank you so much. 😊
Beijos. Rio de Janeiro - Brasil.❤💐
Oh my! I'd be in heaven. Just love William Morris design. I wish I was in the UK to go on adventures with you both! I'm so jealous of all your beautiful trips to manor homes and country estates. Just love all the beauty and history. If you're ever in Tennessee USA, I'd love to show you around the Great Smoky Mountains.
What a wonderful visit to this amazing old house.Beautiful fabrics and china ,all those colourful plates, you were in your glory. Thanks alot for sharing, take care of yourselves love from Ann Italy 🇮🇹🥰❤️
The way the designer William Morris mixes fabrics has something to do with magic! Thank you for sharing your tour, I am in heaven too!
I’m a huge William Morris fan as well as an Arts and Craft Movement fan. William brought nature inspired patterns into his designs and the love of handmade items as apposed to make production. He stated that every day items should be beautifully crafted. He loved Medieval Art, Pre-Raphilite Art and Gothic Architecture. As I sit watching your fascinating video I am surrounded by every day items that reflect Morris and Co and the Arts and Craft movement such as tapestry pillows, coasters, tablecloth, embroidered bed spread, Art and Books on William Morris and on the Arts and Craft movement. He is a Pioneer in home decor, a craftsman and designer that is as popular today as ever. ❤🤗🇨🇦
Oh I loved this video! Morris and Rossetti - what's not to love! We used to live near Burford and it is beautiful. Thank you for Morris and happy memories too.
I just love you two and I love how you love our British and particularly your love of Englishness! I love William Morris too. My curtains in my first house (floor to ceiling) were Golden Lily pattern. I am sitting now on a patchwork quilt I made of William Morris fabric.
Another incredible inedible English lunch! Seriously though ,you guys do a terrific job & seeing things thru German eyes manage to pick up on many details we miss.
