AnnikaOakinnA agreed! we need more empowering songs like this- to teach girls & boys (& LGBGTqqqxyz in case I missed anyone): be confident and learn about self worth young.. no one is incomplete without another person. Shine bright, sisters.
I think country is always about telling a story. I think that's what always draws me in to this genre. She is nailing that with these songs. I love it!
Oh friend, you need to listen to old school blues like bb king & Aretha Franklin if you think country is the only gene that tells stories. Heck, go back to folksy stuff like Joni Mitchell & Phoebe Snow (tho I grant this song is more empowering). :)
A lot of songs are like that, genre doesn't matter. Some are just whatever, but most songs, especially those written by the artists, do tell a story. Example: 100 Years by Five For Fighting, Violet Hill by Coldplay, Who Knew by Pink, Hurt by Christina Aguilera, and Like Toy Soldiers by Eminem. All non country but all tell a story.
Hell yeah. I was in a relationship like this - I thought he was everything, that I needed to do whatever he wanted. It felt like I was walking on air for more than a week after I left him. Being all of me for the first time in years was amazing. I missed me more than I knew, and I'm so glad I got that back. Him on the other hand? Never.
Nice girl. Lol I don't think I'd let anyone do this to me but just because I'm a middle schooler I know how it hurts trust me I have a mind of an adult
[Verse 1] I retired my red lipstick 'cause you said you didn't like it I didn't wear my high heel shoes 'Cause I couldn't be taller than you I didn't wanna lose my friends, but now it's hard to even find them It's what you wanted, ain't it? It's what you wanted [Pre-Chorus] I thought I'd miss you (when it ended) I thought it hurt me (but it didn't) I thought I'd miss you I thought I'd miss you [Chorus] But I miss me more I miss my own beat, to my own snare drum I miss me more Miss my own sheets in the bed I made up I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you Yeah, I thought I'd miss you But I miss me more (I miss me more) [Verse 2] I put on my old records that I hid in the back of the closet And I turn them up to ten And then I played them all again I found my independence Can't believe I ever lost it What you wanted, ain't it? It's what you wanted [Pre-Chorus] I thought I'd miss you (when it ended) I thought it hurt me (but it didn't) I thought I'd miss you Yeah, I thought I'd miss you [Chorus] But I miss me more I miss my own beat, to my own snare drum (I miss me more) Miss my own sheets in the bed I made up I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you Yeah, I thought I'd miss you But I miss me more (I miss me more) [Bridge] I thought I'd miss you I thought it hurt me And I'd wanna kiss you I thought I'd miss you [Chorus] But I miss me more I miss my own beat, to my own snare drum (I miss me more) Miss my own sheets in the bed I made up I forgot I had dreams, I forgot I had wings Forgot who I was before I ever kissed you And I thought I'd miss you But I miss me more (I miss me more) (I miss me more) (I miss me more)
You are my hero I have been looking for lyrics forever all I found was karaoke u or audios it the musical video and it even tho some of the said lyrics it's was just karaoke
Idk why but whenever I hear the chorus of this song I picture one of those scenes from a Western movie where the hero comes walking up to the villain for a shootout and everything is all tense and the hero just keeps slowly and confidenly walking forward and you can tell it’s going to be the best part of the movie:)
It went double platinum and I promise you our country station plays this constantly and I love it cause it made me have the courage to leave my abusive ex
Before all of this going om, I was on a road trip and thi song played on the radio and i loved it now today i was looking up stuff anf remember this song but forgot what was the name of it afraid I'll never find it and now look it here^^ jaming while writing fanfictoon lol❤ I can relate alot of this which now i know better❤❤❤
if you actually listen you can hear a bit of a banjo/acoustic background and Kelsea adding her raspiness and accent to the song really brings out the country. It does sound kinda pop at first listen but she has said in multiple interviews i have seen that her style is country-pop. It is a mix between the two genres. So for all of you who listened to it once and decided it was "too pop" listen again. listen for the banjo/acoustic. listen to how the accent in her voice blends with the melody and rhythm of the song. just actually listen to it.
Brittany Andrews also I was only saying this to argue against everyone who is saying it sounds more like a pop song. Can we be civil and just agree to disagree and leave it alone. We both like the song, right? So let's just leave it alone
Recently went through a break up with a narcissist. I discovered I really lost myself in that 12 year relationship. I heard this song over a speaker at a fast food restaurant. I had to come home and find it it’s my new mantra!
This song has been playing at Walgreens where I work, and I absolutely love it. I didn't realize it had been out for two years though, just heard it this year. It's amazing
Can people please zip it with "It doesn't sound like country"? Who the hell cares? She makes incredible music, so I don't care if it's pop, country, country-pop or whatsoever. Keep on doing these amazing ballads and anthems, Kelsea!
best thing is she´s happy, found her hubby AND her sound - and this one even calls for nice remixes ... thumbs up, even for for her chritable work (the video with that little girl singing "let it go" in a hospital to her is unforgotten. She´s about to rise - well deserved :) #letthegirlsplay #songsuffragette #nashville #dj #news
Kevin_Fuchs YESSSSS🙌🏼 she’s an artist regardless... I mean I hate to compare them but look at Taylor she transitioned into pop without any complainers. And by the way, this does have kelsea’s XO vibes so calm down haters.
Brittany Andrews Forget it now.Actually you didn't get what I meant.I've heard the rest of the album and found amazing songs in them.So I don't care about this one track and by "Older Sound" I meant a song like 'Peter Pan' which is kind of more dripped with feels its not about the Identical sounds in music or something. Anyways I love her album, the rest of her songs are pure gems.
Thank you for this song . put things in away I thought I would fell after getting away from an abusive ex. Helped me realise I was living to keep him happy and not hurting me any more.
