@@stevenpeck7967 Indeed! Manchester with Sappo, Bassman, Trigga...Burnley with Marcus Intalex, Bristol with the Full Cycle crew, Wolverhampton with Goldie, Sheffield with DJ SS and the Formation crew...
Tuuuuuune! Dread Bass, Amens, a cheeky film sample (Hellraiser) and then that break down you needed so you could take a breather after shocking out so hard! You can't go wrong! I remember dropping this at a b'day party BITD for non-junglists. They weren't impressed. I was though, lol....I had been playing house all night so I slipped this in for me!
This is my ultimate favourite jungle tune. The reason I started DJing, to here you sum it up so well was like listening to my self say it. This tune means everything to me. Respect bro! The rushes though! Only people who lived it will know ;).
@@MemoryLaneCinema I never heard it referred to as warp bass. It's actually just a reversed bass stab. They didn't actually need to reverse it, just use a long attack on a synth, but they were using samplers not synths. For a short time it was referred to as dread bass after a certain banger on Moving Shadow, but I'm sure people referred to it as different things.
Big up!! Loved that set!! religiously locked in to their show!!! Memories!! Big all the London pirate radio stations of the past that supported this sound.
As a kid I first heard this crackling through an Aiwa midi hifi over the North London airwaves in the 90s and ever since that first listen it's stuck in my head as of one of the rudest tunes ever made. Absolutely militant beat
if you want another dirty tune, check out Deviant (or Deviant too cant remember which) by the advocate. Best DnB tune ever. Even the rude boys gonna give you a nod on that on.
This was produced by sam gordon and he was only 18 at the time. Go check out his other tracks, he goes by the name missing. Tracks like rewound riddims, a Stitch in time, explicit lyrics and back to consciousness
@@subconscious.com_usa6691 No, it was written by Sam Gordon and mixed by him, them mastered by mark Ranger, for the champion jungle sound album, the kemet crew was a collection of artists. The box re-opens was a one man mission. Ive talked to Sam himself about the complex amen patterns and samples. Stephens was apart of the kemet crew but had no hand in the production of this banger.
@@tenebrissubterra4596 sorry buddy you may be correct, i was just going by this link to Human Being - The Box EP it has the box re opens on the E,P as a b side,James Stephens has obviously stuck the track on his E.P as a remix, considering their both kemet members and the box re opens is a rework of James Stephens original track the box opened from 1993.www.discogs.com/Human-Being-The-Box-EP/master/1580206
Goosebumps, man I would love just one opportunity to listen to this live, the whole champion jungle sound album, fantastic. Why is this not on spotify.
@@robertlund5694 Amen to that, brother. I've no idea about Grime - cos I'm too old. Why should successive generations like the same fucking music and grind all progress to a halt?
I have been listening to jungle since day dot, but i know a younger who says dred bass by ded dread is the most perfect example of proto dubstep ever. I dont hear it but he obviously does maybe because he is younger, but it doesnt matter, we all hear what we are gonna hear.
@@MrDBassett in effect was pretty good, but it wasn't dark like this. Cape Fear by Pointblank remarc is pretty good too, or the one by remarc and lewi cifer. Both dark jungle vibes.
Had a moment with this tune on my commute today. Traffic jam the tune drops I have my eyes closed throwing hand gun salutes. Lady looks over staring like I was a real nuttah. I guess I was having a different day. #newschooljungle
Haha.....gwaan mate! When I've got my headphones on at work I've gotta remember not to nod my head too hard or 'finger drum' like a nutter when I'm playing hard riddims!
@@shaundavidssd i never saw it anywhere even when it was a diverse crowd and moody in the jungle arenas , even at lakota Bristol in 2002. So to my knowledge you are the one in the wrong.
