QUICK NOTE BEFORE YOU COMMENT: The guitar I used for this demo was the Epiphone Yungblud SG Junior, which has a P90 pickup (sorry I didn't actually show myself playing it), but that explains any "hissing" or extra noise you hear. I've been seeing a lot of comments about the unit itself is noisy, that is not the case at all, I promise. It's simply some 60 cycle hum from the pickup. Remember that is also has a noise gate built in as well and works great with other pedals, so if you have your own, you can use that as well!
I've heard that a lot. Growing up with a dad who was raised and played through the 80s, seeing the gear he still has kicking around, I can believe it firsthand. lol
I remember renting pedals renting different types of amps from my local music stores and absolutely losing my mind when I finally could afford to buy an old beat up late 70s early 80s Ibanez rack unit that had distortion reverb flange Chours and delay in it..Completely changed my perspective on my own playing and I began to study much harder and advanced much quicker... it’s no wonder the guitar players these days are getting so good so fast..
FYI the amateurs in your comments are saying it sounds bad because they're unaccustomed to hearing a guitar without reverb. Even most other reviewers keep some reverb on the entire time. It's dumb but there it is. I appreciate the isolated tests. Sounds fine.
Fantastic video! Thank-you for taking the time to demonstrate this unit. For the money it seems like it's worth it. I wish that it had some way to edit/organize patches with a computer.
I've just ordered one of these as an upgrade to my Cube Baby - which is an excellent piece of kit. The extra reverb, delay and modulation modes - in conjunction with 36 preset slots - are going to be invaluable... and I've already got a set of IRs to load. As far as noise levels are concerned - there's the noise gate to play with and I'm not all that interested with any amp models beyond the clean and slightly overdriven, as I play folk, jazz and blues - and I'd rather hear the music than a 'wall of distorted noise'. As far as the output goes - I've got my lovely Orange combo... and a big 60W bluetooth speaker with an 'aux-in'; I'll be fully sorted for a mains-free portable solution - just what I need for a night out at the local music club!
Thanks for the review. You’re providing a great service with the gear demos. All the gear you used is on the more affordable side. It sounded very good. The 70/80s aren’t my favorite but they actually do good with modelers going into power amp and cab because they have a more full and mild range of guitar frequencies. At least that’s what I hear around the block. $80 modeler with effects is crazy.
That's what I said, for the price, it's a great piece of gear. I have legitimately been playing it every day. I've written stuff I normally wouldn't since I have the effects right at my fingertips!
How can you compare this to Kemper or Axe Fx? I mean, it's not better or worse, it's just a totally different thing. It's like saying, "Let's see if pizza is better than ice cream"
This comparison often comes from the ability of Tank-g to load trained profiles in the preamp slots along with custom IRs in the IR slots. You can capture Amps, pedals, vst plugins or full rigs using the SincoANN software, or get some from the net. This is great for a 60-80 bucks pedal
@@psychorat5 yes but what you pay for in the High End modelers it's not the modelling actually. You can have great sounding unit today for 200 euros. You pay for routing flexibility, in and out settings, in/out routing, XLR, complex effects chains, parallel chains, free editing and free pedal assignments etc. etc. there is the price, not for the modelling.

Wow! Thanks for your video. I do very much appreciate how much you put into these and this kind of kit would have been excellent when I started guitar many years ago. Now back in the late '70s when I was playing around '80s I was getting into it. Yeah that kind of kit would have been excellent. Moved on a lot since technologies has really advanced really has. Keep up the nice work and wonderful. It's a beginners paradise. What you're showing there? It's it would surely encourage. Especially for home studio etc. Lovely keep up. Nice work! Love to check out more. God bless
A lot of players overlook this price level of gear and think if they don’t spend 2k it’s no good but there are some great pieces of equipment out there at a very reasonable price
Exactly. For the price, it's a killer piece of gear. As is a lot of things I look at on this channel. Is it the greatest? No. Is it awesome for the money? Hell yeah.
Honestly, if I was new to guitar this would be a fun piece of gear to explore. But at an intermediate and even advanced level, saving a little longer and getting the Tonex (or even the Boss IR-2) would be a much better price to value purchase IMO. Good demo though and rock on!
Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily say this replaces amps or anything, but it's a fun piece of gear to travel with, record demos with, things like that. There are better options for professional recording/playing, but for the price and what you get, I dig it.
Have you mention that we can also capture actual drive/preamp pedals and VST as well and load them to Tank-G? I have bunch of ANN Profiles that can be loaded to Tank-G. 😁 See you guys on my YT channel. 😀
Excellent video, I'm lazy all the cut, paste editing take longer than I want. Yes the audio is godd clear. I love the precision of Condensor microphones. I do suggest using more when available. You enjoy wireless so do I! I do suggest a wireless Microphone system. There are plenty pick ur fancy. I just bought a BOSS KATANA GEN 3 100 ARTIST. Not complaining yet, for recording purposes that standalone is a great comparing budget friendly pricing.
Wireless is nice on occasion! I actually do have a wireless mic system, one from Joyo. I have a video on that as well. I've used it with this too and it works great!
The price is right. I really think this thing needs to go through a pa or the way you ran it. Direct into an amp- I do not think would sound as well. Thank you- Great video.
LoL 1st off do not type in Pink Flamingo 😂😅 Whew I barely made it out of there.... Good review dude!! You GOT A NEW SUBSCRIBER 🎉🎉🎉🎉😅 I liked the way you did the ...review...stuff yea!!
I'm curious now, but I think I know, based on my knowledge of movies directed by John Waters, where you may have been going with that. lol. If that's the case, definitely stay away from that. My flamingos are nothing like that! Thanks for subscribing! ⚡️🦩
Dude, i’m just glad it’s not a 4th of July decoration, or say “Playwell” on it. Lekato is a serious company; to be respected. So I saved $50 buying a teal sparkler in China, only to want to buy the classy looking Lekato Tank back here. Great. Well, thanks anyway. Because the black Tank is the Chosen One. Oh yeah…. Dude! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But if it’s this video, brother, it’s broke.
It's not. It's also marketed as 'Playwell' too, and I'm sure there are other 'brands'. Still seems like a great bit of gear to have as backup, whatever the brand name. The model is always 'Tank-G' though.
@@martynridley3671Yeah i seen those they are purple and look the same as the others. And yeah for the $79 i paid it is a great unit overall. actually the reviews and demo's do not even do the unit justice. Run it through the return of the loop on a all tube head and it sounds really good. Not all that great with headphones though so there are better silent practice rigs out there.
Seems pretty noisy for what it is. Bummer really. This in the loop of my NUX MG-30 could have been cool but the noise floor I'm hearing is nuts for such a device.
Is the battery replaceable, or is it basically a disposable effects unit? Not having to plug it in is one thing, not being able to is different. I stopped using batteries years ago. I got a pedal board with its own power supply. 9 Volt batteries got too expensive. At least it looks like you can turn this thing off. Pedals are always on until you unplug the cord. Which leads to dead batteries on the second night of a two night gig, when you forget to unplug something. Running around at the last minute to find someplace to buy 9 volt batteries kind of sucks. If the battery is not replaceable, I can see a time where the battery is dead before the gig is over. Now what do you do.
Not a replaceable battery as far as I know. It doesn't run on 9v or anything like that, so if you want to call it disposable, that would best describe it.
@@Electric.Flamingo So if you want to rely on it for gigs, you better get two. For the price, I guess that's possible. Seems like another step in the wrong direction though, if you are at all concerned about the environment, or the health of the planet. Being a disposable society is already creating real issues.
@@michaelatiernan2371 That's the way it recharges, sure. But if you're at a gig, and the battery goes dead, you won't be playing again that night. That may not be a problem when it's new. Make sure it's charged before you leave for the gig. But as these batteries age, the charge goes away quicker all the time. Plus I'm sure these are lithium ion batteries. So once again you are supporting slave labor to have the minor convenience of not having to plug it in. I agree that it is more nonsense the world doesn't need.
To be honest, the expensive units all have far too many models! You're never gonna need 50 different metal tones. Once an amp is overdriven, you'll have a tough job distinguishing it from another. You would never use that many live either.
I am using a P90 to demonstrate the sounds, so I think that was my fault. It's some 60 cycle hum and again, it has a built in noise gate that works great.
Another spoiled RU-vidr with there state of the art studio and gear doing demos of gear most of us common folk could ever afford… 😊 No for real I love the pink decor and plastic flamingos just goes to show that if you’re good at what you do, you don’t need a bunch of fancy shit just use what you got and be grateful for it. Love your video and I will for sure like and subscribe.
Anybody that’s even slightly tech savvy, could drill a tiny hole in the back of it and install a pin jack that you could hook up an external AC adapter to it , plenty easy to do..
I did plug it in, but I don't have a set up to record through USB-C. I tried to see if I could load my own IRs in or anything, but didn't figure it out so far.
@@Electric.Flamingo I’m kinda hoping I can get it to plug in straight to my iPad Pro and use through garage band in place of going through an interface, would make it a killer mobile recording set up. We’ll see once Amazon drops it off this weekend
@HardwiredQ oh, it's capable of mobile recording, if that's what you're asking. It will absolutely work with an iPad! The instrustion manual should detail how to do that more!
