@Richard Backus, Thanks for posting this video. My dad was a big fan of Norton motorcycles. He grew up riding motorcycles in his teens around 1935. He served in WW2, then raised his family. So, he never owned a Norton, but rode a few. He always said the 850 Dominators, and Commandos were fast and powerful bikes. He would have loved to see your restored Norton. Unfortunately, he passed in 1990.

Fuckin awesome memories. I bought a brand new 750 commando in Marin county in 73. The year I graduated. Paid 1676.60 out the door. You can imagine the fun I had on that bike. I kick myself today for selling it.

Tune your Norton according to workshop manual paying attention to the two screws on each of the carbs and set timing as per spec and she'll start first kick every time. Looks like a Harley coil on this bike? The 6 volt coils Norton used was purely to enable the bike to still run if battery or charging system lagged. Boyer Branson make a good E Ignition. Points are old hat. Flooding the carbs using the "tickler" can cause a plug to fowl so its better to prime without flooding. Chokes are not needed and it's worth pulling out the slides from the Amals which will improve throttle response as there is less drag, moving parts..

When would you like to sell her? Missed mine every day since I bought it new back in '73 and sold it 4 years later. I graduated and drove home from college on her, from Ithaca NY to New Milford, NJ. Still looking for her.

My cousin bought on of these brand new. I cleaned his plow on a CB 750 Honda, or maybe it was the 350 Honda I had before the 750. lol. Pretty bikes but not fast for the day.

bet that paint job wasn't cheap, with lots of buffing. Nice sounding old Norton, wonder how well they'd be able to move around my 6'7 320lb self.

Nice bike. Informative. Film making suggestion: The voice over. It makes for a more interesting video. Run the camera around the bike as you are telling us what was done to it.

I'm thinkin low compression if ya can start that by using your arm !! The bike is a very good Norton example !!
