Every 6 weeks or so i bring in my little speakers and get some music going. Yesterday it was Salsa Dance Party. Some of the girls like to call it Kendo Dancing, which it sort of is, but it is also footwork, mobility, movement innovation, kiai and unrestrained spirit and all that sort of thing. It's not something that we can rightly do all the time but once in a while I think it brings a great chance for release and plain old fun. Perhaps a bit of a reward for their awesome showing at the Shinsa and Shiai last weekend!
Some of the adults participate too. In fact, I do believe that this sort of thing might be even more helpful to the adulting cohort! :-)
