"And if my record never break, I still won't break my promise- I promise to keep it honest" Years later he won 5 grammys, 2 platinum albums, selling out shows all over the world and all while Still keeping it honest. That's overly dedicated
the giant midget ima cry bruh. kendrick was my first concert ever back in 2012 and i knew back then he'd be up, but nobody couldve predicted where hes at now. its amazing
The quote that stick with me when I first heard this. “ gotta keep it pushin, can’t let the government tell me how my future lookin” I was back in high school jr year. My dad is a disable vet. Taking care of my two sisters and brother with $2200 month. My mom had food stamps. I used to take the Public bus and work during school because I couldn’t have what other kids did. I’m 27 now and glad to say thank you Kendrick. I’m living downtown in an apartment. My siblings are all eating well.
When Kendrick says 'Thank you' gives me chills, one of his best tracks imo. Verse is just beautifully put together but seems like a really genuine stream of consciousness.
Thats real AF i knew I wasnt the only one.Especially when you know he bout to spaz tf out on the track! It was like the calm before the storm! Thank you
Even tho I understand he's grown and matured, I rlly miss this hungry Kendrick who can literally rap so many meaningful lyrics he runs out of breath on the official song
If you really want to be a rapper you can try to look at what he does, how he conceptualizes songs and what makes his flow unique, try it and then throw in your own things on there to not seem like a style jacker.
I wouldn't start putting yourself down and depleting your self-concept lol if you want to be a rapper hell go for it just practice and keep practicing that's the only way you'll get to the pinnacle you want to reach.
Doesn't quite make sense if you start skateboarding and see a professional skateboarder, you might be put off at first, but your will start doing what you can to be as good as the professional one day. If you never start you'll never get there
John doe top 5 best kendrick songs to me 1 the heart pt 2 2 sing about me 3 keisha's song 4 Oppisite Attract 5 sherane I make hiphop to if u interest i am not good as him but i am good
The best part about this song is he himself said that in the end of this song he ended up crying..that shows how much effect he put into this song. Much respect kendrick
imahelpfulperson Well as lyricist K Dot amazing but I'll put King Los, Prime Em, Black Thought, Crooked I, Locksmith, Lupe, Pharoahe Monch, Royce Da 5'9, Big Pun, 3 Stacks, Nas, Common above him and Cyhi is equal too him as a new artist lyricist.
imahelpfulperson I wish he stay aggressive like he did on "Fire Squad", "Jermaine Interlude" and "FOLGERS CRYSTAL" but Cole is a dope lyricist he's just not top tier imo
I find it funny to see that there are people taking one line from this and saying Kendrick sold out for having a beef when this is the same guy who made an 18 track rap album about having a family and going to therapy. He's been rapping about "life" for his entire career and when he finally got into a beef, he turned that around into a way to highlight West coast culture. But that's all I'm gonna say, I know we live in a world where people will disregard anything you say and write it off as "glazing" or whatever.
RIP Kobe Bryant. Kendrick, you’re an inspiration to me as a man. I know you’ll never read this but damn, your music keeps my soul alive! You and Cole both well rounded individuals. Thank you for keeping it 100.
"Never will i surrender, ive been a warrior ever since i came out my mas placenta... In the gutter lane like im masta splinta" That gets me every time #kingkendrick
Crazy how this still goes this hard! I remember Kdot being one of the first artists that i was able to put my oldest brother on (it's a huge personal accomplishment being the youngest) and from there on he was bumping everything from this legendary artist. We had a lot memories to this whole album from start to finish. Unfortunately my brother died about 8 years ago and the intro speaks to me as the years go on fr. Music and my son are the things that keep me going ✊🏾
Sweet Jesus! This song still goes. Remember the first time you heard this track? You couldn't believe the boy was that nice! Years later and I'm still blown away by this song.
This is one of my favorite verses from Kendrick and I have never heard anything from him that I didn't love... but this one here.. straight from his heart and it shows. #KingKendrick
I recognize talent when I hear it, I’m not even a big fan of this song but I respect it for what it is. That intro hits different though… it’s deeper than the craters on the moon
Puturangi Tai-Rakena no one ever said that. only childish people and trolls will say that. kendrick is one of the best lyrical rapper in the game right now and drake is more like a hype or rhythm type of rapper/singer.
This was my fav song walking to my bus stop as a 6th grader, 26 now and I still listen to it like it just dropped, thank you Kendrick, like fr thank you ❤
whenever life‘s getting too much in my head i come back here. been years since i first discovered this song, mom had cancer. now, years after, still listening to it giving me strwnght
Yo with heavy eyes I must humbly say this is the hardest rap song I’ve ever heard. Kendrick Lamar peace to you god, may you forever inspire the seeds from our African tree✊🏾
I remember hearing this when OD dropped on DatPiff. This track was the track that made me realize this kid Dot was different. Years later, and he won a Pulitzer off an album. Best of his generation for sure.
Man dude i haven't heard this song in so long!!! I remember when i found kendrick lamar's music back in summer 2013 and i would go to frostwire to download all of his music during that time and remember this song but forgot the name of it. But here i am 2024 remembering this gem. Time sure has gone by and his music has always got me thru tough times and blessed to see him perform twice!
+kevin betou that song great too but idk this song is veryyyy special just that end with him coughing and all that really a masterpiece that God aided to be created Kenny said all this was a freestyle
This is my favorite Kendrick track! The Tyler Perry line is my favorite! I first heard this back in 2012, maybe, and it's so raw, honest, and beautiful. It took me a minute to realize what he was trying to convey with the anecdote in the beginning, but I later realized---The music was keeping Kendrick here.
Theres never been a rap song that exemplifies exactly what Hip-hop was made for. Hip-hop has always been the poetry of the struggling black youth, and this song is like a Shakespeare masterpiece. This is what i would call a perfect Rap song.
@03:43 "BUT LITTLE DID THEY KNOW, I'm trying to change the rules that we've been confined to, so the corporate won't make decisions! Killin' our dreams stealing our vision!"
This song........ So Great. Had to read the lyrics 3 times just for the appreciation I have for the best rapper/hip hop artist in the game today. This song, The Relevant, Let me be Me, and Dying of thrist are my favorite songs. I also can't forget look out for detox and Rigamortis.
Its not even the fact that Pac rapped like that, its the fact that it reminds you of Pac in a natural sense, its a natural reaction, I'm not agreeing that Pac actually "rapped" like that but in a sense you can sort of relate his passion to Pacs. Js
I swear, kendrick has a little bit of nas/pac like lyrics with a mix of eminem - like wordplay and rhyme schemes..this dude is great. If we base ppl off albums, he's up there in the top 10 already imo. No disrespect to the greats of hiphop, but he's changing the game like pac/nas/big
He was talking bout you cus you like half these cats that just don’t know Kendrick, guessing you don’t know yourself either. Get outta here with that fake for profit “beef” and go listen to real Kendrick like OD Section 80 and GOOD KID
