A bird in the hand was the strongest inspiration for Maad City. For example they have the same BB King sample. Kendrick wasn't using ice cubes lyrics he was just making a reference.
I'm a Kendrick fan, but what's the difference? Where does one drawn the line without bias? How can you say Drake is a flow biter for doing the same thing every other rapper is doing?
@@deadspace297 Well if you were to ask Drake about what he has bitten he won't give credit to where credits due, But if you ask Kendrick he won't deny the source of the lone the flow instead he will show respect as other rappers have done. Yes rappers bite flows some act like they came up with it on their own only a selective few pay homage to the ones who came before ❤️
@@Jichael_Mordan23He praised em at his own concert. And even give em the forever song to put on his relapse album. But yet people say he stole em's lyrics? Wtf is people's obsession with hating Drake?
In the parallel universe where Kanye recorded that before Ice Cube? Both Ye and Kdot were deliberately referencing Cube for those who know. Those who don’t, idk
He's paying homage to Compton culture he even delivered it the same way over a similar style beat in maad city this mixtape was all about early life and inspirations/influences whether it be good or bad
Both songs use the same drums too. Vibes rap career gets overlooked by people due to his success in movies but once I got old enough to listen I personally have him in my top 5
Interpolation: the act of mimicking, using or sampling a part of a different song, whether it be lyrics, flows or what not, usually to pay homage. It is not biting other artists.
Another recent one is from a song on Stormzy’s new album “My Presidents Are Black” and it uses the line “win again, and win again like Wimbledon, I serve” from DNA. by Kendrick Lamar (3:01).
Also, just to make the point, this is called lyrical interpolation and is done all of the time in rap as well as other genres. It isn’t “ripping off of other artists” or uncreative in any way, unless you literally copying whole verses or something crazy like that
Cuz Kendrick is a Compton rapper paying homage to another Compton rapper unlike Drake who steals everything from everyone. This song also use the same sample as Ice Cube so it's obviously a homage.
I mean. I get what ur saying and I'm sure ur right that some ppl would say that. But u kno its more complicated. K.dot is using one bar as a reference to pay homage to an older generation. A generation who influenced him. All the best hip hop does this all the time thru references and samples . But drake, (or his ghosterwriters,) have a rep for sneakily biting from modern, less famous songs. without acknowledging them. admittedly, I'm biased for kendrick and not smart
Because they both come from the same city. The song is called maad city and cube was a big part in the shaping of the infamous Compton, California. So he was paying references to those who were in the maad city before him.
Some of yall need to relax. It's never stated that he copied Ice Cube but it's an undeniable fact that Ice Cube's lyrics were used regardless of the reason why
Real Headz know this ahhready. This is a great form of paying homage to AN OG. Naameen he on a track with EIHT using CMW type beat. This ain't biting. You gotta know the culture to know the difference
I’m tired of hearing these videos of the title saying Drake stole Eminem’s lyrics lemme tell y’all something there’s a difference between copying somebody’s flow and lyrics rather than them just referencing that artist
Paying homage is fine, but it happens way to often. Come up with an original rhyme. But i suppose the same ghost writers creating songs for rappers as in the 80s anyways. Probably just using the same lines they wrote 40 years ago.
So... no one speaks about how 6ix n9ne stole a lone from snoop doggs drop it like its hot. was in blood walk. He stole a line and switched up the blue rag lyric for a red rag
Cuz Kendrick is a Compton rapper paying homage to another Compton rapper unlike Drake who steals everything from everyone. This song also use the same sample as Ice Cube so it's obviously a homage.
