Truly a great man of history. Unfortunately he lived and fought in the shadow of Nelson Mandela. I spent the first ten years of my life in Zambia. It was an honour to see the great man visit Livingstone and to see him wave his white hanky while we stood under the mango grove on Main Road. Now I think it's named Falls Road or Musi o Tunya Road.

I have been to Zambia and I love that great and real blessed country,I'm Tanzanian we have lost a great comrade and a great friend. We will never never find the great leaders like H.E Kaunda, Nyerere,Gadaff, and many others, they were smart enough to outsmart muzungu/whites neo colonialism,Today we have a lot of puppet leaders africa will never march a yard

In my very humble opinion, this very gentle man has not gotten the recognition he deserves. He opened up his country to a lot of refuges and encouraged the beautiful people of Zambia to be welcoming. There may have been some xenophobia but not to the magnitude you see in Zimbabwe or South Africa. I have so much gratitude to the people of Zambia - we lived well in your country and seriously all I can say is - Natotela

God Bless You, Dr. Kaunda. I am tearing up, but I find solace in the fact that you led a wonderful, productive and, above all, righteous life. At a time when it was too easy to sell out to the big Western corporations and neo-colonial masters, you stayed true to your convictions, remaining an honest man who was dedicated to his people. Very few have done that. Only the bravest and the most righteous! Your beautiful smile and that handkerchief that you so often waved - those are the images that will stay with me until it's time for me to go... I hope that you knew how loved you were by all. Rest in peace, Zambia's and Africa's Lion of Peace!

I was in Chingola, Zambia from 1969 to 1977 and studied in the Primary and the Secondary Schools there. At that time my father was teaching Maths to senior classes in Chingola Secondary School. I remember singing this song in the group for Annual Day I think in 1970. The then President Kaunda (also called KK) used to sing this song a lot. He was the one who got Zambia freedom. His contribution to the freedom struggle there has not been fully acknowledged. I also remember waiting with the rest of the children on the side of the road for his car cavalcade to pass through. He would always wave his white handkerchief at all the people standing along the way.

I just heard on this great man who inspired the whole of Africa especially when most African countries were in a desperate thirst to uproot colonialism, i equally mourn with you all Zambians because it is in your land this great man emerged, Above all he was true patriot to his beloved continent Africa where he fought shoulder to shoulder along with my national hero Mw.Julius nyerere. Indeed they remain our heroes and true symbol of our freedom and independence we enjoy today. May god bless the whole of Africa for the song that when listened delivers strong hope and passion to our people. I myself don't understand the language used but my feelings deep me into it and enjoys so much of its rhythm.

When I see the clip, I remember when Kaunda went on a hunger strike for several days until Julius Nyerere visited him in prison and brought him some biscuits. I was not there but I imagine, Nyerere telling him something like, " bro, we went through a lot trying to fix our continent, and you're not going to die in this fashion on my watch! Now eat and if you don't, I am not going back to Tanzania", and he probably replied with " Fine, Mwalimu, but tell this people to stop harassing me"!

Kenneth Kaunda is a great Pan Africanist who wrestled Zambia from imperialist colonial rule and led her with dignity and love. Naturaly as has happened across Africa, when a leader is unrelenting to "the real" Western "democracy", ie open your gates to the plundering west, foreign aid is stopped, media is manipulated, which ultimately results in unrest and eventual ovethrow. Then bingo. The west wins. But where has that got Zambia???. Long live KK.
