Haha thanks Joe, joking aside he did have a great talent and until it was too late greatly undervalued, as the old adage goes 'you don't know what you've got till its gone'.
Ken was a one of a kind genius. HIs dry wit and his repartee is 2nd to none. Would love to know what his IQ was and what went on inside that brilliant brain. A multi talented man if ever there was one.
It is my personal opinion that Mr Rumpo is the doyen of folk singers. His remarkable renditions of evergreens such as "Green Grow My Nadgers O," The plaintive "Ballad of the Wogglers Moulie" and his biggest hit "The Runcorn Splod Cobblers song" are true classics.
He is "Unique". He can perform in any style. There will never be another Rambling Syd. His fan base which is predominantly in Runcorn and Frinton hold him in high regard. A statue may soon be erected on the Frinton harbour wall.
It is your contention that RSR has not yet taken up the art of folk singing ... despite recording the album on this site and the dozens of folk songs he sang on Round The Horne?
A "Would be" folk singer is a someone who is "thinking" about taking up the art of folk singing not as yet an exponent of the art......ie Rambling Syd.
Rather than meaninglessly rambling on and on about nothing, you might want to consider the contradictions you have littered the comments section with. You know - the ones I have pointed out several times.
