If you were in Kenny G's situtation during the 80s, you'd do the same thing! He had a family to support, and there was no money in Straight Ahead Jazz or anything else, so he went with smooth soft music. To call him a telentless prick is childish and you have serious issues if that's how you feel. His tone and sound on the Saxophone is simply amazing! And Grover Washington Jr, inspired him!
Some people just don't see. I guess he has to take the bad with the good. That man has more talent and skill in his pinky than most of those naysayers. That's all jealousy of his success clearly. He's laughing all the way to bank lol! He's not trying to impress those folks. All I can say if they think they're better, get on a stage with him. They won't do that. AND, Grover Washington Jr. would probably have been honored to have inspired this man! I loves me some Grover Washington Jrs music. Loves me some Kenny Gs music as well! Those two are in a class all by themselves! Another level

Lo que hacia genial y unica la voz de beth eran todas esas "imperfecciones" que la gente no es capaz de admirar voces diferentes a las que las los 40 principales les ofrece.

Jazz fans LOVE to HATE Kenny G because he was a sellout. During the 80s, he used play real Funk and Jazz music. But there was no money in it, so he kind of went a diffrent direction and started playing music that 40 year old women love to hear. There was little improvising and it was slow romantic music and it's not really Jazz, but he became a big hit at the Smooth Jazz charts and this is why he is hated by so many Jazz critics! I love to hear John Coltrane, Bird, and all the real Jazzers.
If there are two different worlds of saxophonists, some good but unknown and others "bad" but loved... could you get back to your world of "unknowns" and leave us enjoy Kenny G in peace? Thanks in advance...
@kittentally37 Kenneth Gorelick (born June 5, 1956), better known by his stage name Kenny G, is an American saxophonist whose fourth album Duotones brought him to fame in 1986. Kenny's main instrument is the soprano saxophone, but he also plays the alto and tenor sax on occasion Source: Wikipedia ^.^ I didn't even know what type of saxaphone he played. Well, now both of us know :D
man oh man ... *_One More Time_* was written by *_Karyn Rochelle_* , who also wrote a lot of songs for George Jones, LeAnn Rimes, Ronnie Milsap, Reba McEntire, LeeAnn Womack, Terri Clark, Sara Evans. Interesting note, she also co-wrote (with Ed Hill), *_Georgia Rain_* which was recorded by Trisha Yearwood in 2005.
to those listening to really complex forms of jazz, i can imagine that kenny g's music might sound a little boring. but some people just can't comprehend the greatness of bebop (which is a majority of the population in the U.S.). i tried showing friends that listen to mainstream music how awesome phil woods was and they didn't like it one bit, mainly because of the intricate lines phil was playing and the elaborate chord structures that were occurring. it just sounded like random notes to them.
