This was my "fight song" when I quit smoking cigarettes... went into my back yard, and sat cross-legged and put this song on repeat... over and over again😊
My uncle is tha Drummer. Herman Matthews ... I remember meeting Mr.Kenny Loggins and tha band when I was 8yrs old. I didn't know him cause I was just a kid🤷🏿♂️. I was just happy to see my Uncle Herman play tha drums.
I think there were many people in the seventies/eighties who were extremely concerned about the environment. Of course, maybe it somewhat sorta depends who you hung out with. 🤔
For me this is my favorite song in the world. It’s so beautiful with a great message. I always get a little emotional when I hear it. This song just touches my soul.
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music…..❤️❤️❤️
CONVICTION OF THE HEART Where are the dreams that we once had? This is the time to bring them back. What were the promises caught on the tips of our tongues? Do we forget or forgive? There's a whole other life waiting to be lived when... One day we're brave enough To talk with Conviction of the Heart. And down your streets I've walked alone, As if my feet were not my own Such is the path I chose, doors I have opened and closed I'm tired of living this life, Fooling myself, believing we're right, when... I've never given love With any Conviction of the Heart One with the earth, with the sky One with everything in life I believe we'll survive If we only try... How long must we all wait to change This world bound in chains that we live in To know what it is to forgive, And be forgiven? It's been too many years of taking now. Isn't it time to stop somehow? Air that's too angry to breathe, water our children can't drink You've heard it hundreds of times You say your aware, believe, and you care, but... Do you care enough Where's your conviction of the Heart? One with the earth, with the sky,one with everything in life. I believe it will start with conviction of the heart. With the earth, with the sky,one with everything in life. I believe it will start with conviction of the heart. One earth, one sky, only one world, only one chance for one life. When will we live? One child, one dream, only one life. You've but one chance for one life. When will we live? Only one earth, and only one sky,and only one world. We've only got one chance to live in one life. I believe, it's only gonna start when we begin with some conviction of the heart.

Celebrating Earth Day today! I can't think of a better song to listen to and share on this day! Kenny,John Denver,Dan Fogelberg,Sting,Bono, etc.; all these guys have inspired and have tried to teach the world with their musical talents, their songs, that care for our only home should begin now! Thank you,Kenny, for writing this song! I believe it's a safe bet that you're blessing people with this song somewhere today!
Absolutely sounds similar to Standing Outside The Fire. I agree that Garth pulled a Vanilla Ice... Kenny did what Queen did, and he had every right to do so.

"standing outside the fire" definitely has similarities with this.. lyrically not the same... sound definitely is.. did garth rip this off though? if he didnt straight out admit it.. id of chalked it to just being similar as theres definitely differences as well... easily could say he listened to this when writing "standing outside the fire" but the system is funny... garth settled fast..which in my book...admits guilt.. had he fought this.. he mightve won.. but as i said... the system is funny... i seen some where the copy is much closer...and deemed not close enough...and some thats more of a stretch...and deemed a copy
They brought in a busload of the choir members from Northern Arizona University (I was one of them). I think we spent about 30-40 minutes with Kenny learning some harmonies for a few of the new songs from 'Leap Of Faith' (then didn't mic us in any way. LOL). He was very nice and that band was amazing. They would continue to perform songs that weren't on this special for us while the film in the cameras was being changed. We had a lot of fun that day.
It is put up by KennyLogginsVEVO so I think it'll be safe here, thanks Goddess Nature. Other great versions of this song may be gone forever, though. I've been promoting this song for years here...www.flickr.com/photos/emotiroi/2675295034/
As usual Kenny delivers a powerful massage, great music for the senses and fill the world with love. My appreciation has led me to pray for Kenny that he lives a long and healthy life. We are so blessed his heart is as open as the gates of heaven.
An old lady friend cued me into this song. I had never heard it before... though I knew all of Kenny's former hits ... as far back as the mid-70's! It's since become my favorite of his songs, hands down... amazing song with some incredible poignancy for our day.

@Kennyloggins- I've been a huge fan ever since I first saw you and Messina in San Diego 1973. I've worn the grooves off some of tour first few 33 rpm's. I want to thank you for the music of my life. As soon as I hear some of your songs, they reminds me of a specific time in my life that I truly enjoyed. Thank you again, Kenny, and God Bless you and yours.

The fact that Garth tried to fight that he didn’t steal this (after admitting he did) and screwed Kenny out of a portion of royalties is shitty and frankly disappointing. I love Kenny and I did like Garth, especially cuz he always seemed very genuine and respectful. ** For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Garth stole the melody and idea from this and used it in STANDING OUTSIDE THE FIRE.
I like Kenny's song a lot more than Garth's very similar song (Standing Outside the Fire). Very disappointed with Brooks' decision to perform (and support) the current president, Let's Go Brandon.
The rhythm of both Standing Outside The Fire and this sound familiar. However, Garth should have gone to court. He would of won. These songs are no where near close enough to where Kenny would have won. Artists have every right to recycle other peoples songs as long as it is not the same chords or copied. Standing Outside The Fire is completely different speed, and vibe. Shame on those who think otherwise. Kenny got lucky.
Garth Brooks paid $5 million to Kenny Loggins for part of a song he plagiarized off this song. That tells you Garth's admission of guilt in part. What you hear doesn't matter. Kenny Loggins personally called him out on it. End of story.
Kenny jumped on the environmental bandwagon early. To bad I liked him till he went all woke. Hey Kenny where do you think that guitar came from and all that equipment and the power that gave you a career? Ohh and don't forget the countless planes and cars and trucks driven while on tour. How many houses you own Kenny? That a big footprint for someone to call out how "we" are destroying the environment.
Am I the only one who seriously sees NO similarities to "Standing Outside The Fire"? I wish Garth had gone to court instead of settling, he probably would've been acquitted.
OK Kenny, you live on Maui Come and sing at a concert to support the YES vote on the Moratorium on Monsanto's horrific GMO altering of the human genome! The toxic waste from their factories has doubled the rate of cancer on Maui in ONE YEAR!! It's time we got back to the Garden!!
God...is this heaven..to tell the truth...that we are one with the earth?? We are so blessed with this beautiful earthspace and we can still turn it around!!! It is the conviction of the heart together!!!
I love this song so very much. The lyrics mean so much. When I heard Standing Outside the Fire from Garth Brooks, I thought Loggins could have questioned it. Listen to them. Watching this now on the 4th concert. Kenny Loggins is timeless
Guy Thomas took Garth Brooks to court because Brooks basically stole the tune from the song he (Thomas) had co-written with Kenny Loggins. Here is an excerpt about it from an article written in 1998: "An hour before Garth Brooks was to take the witness stand and testify, attorneys for the country singer reached an out of court settlement. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but sources said Thomas will receive a payment agreed upon by both sides." Garth Brooks may be a good singer and entertainer, but he is also a phony.
Yes I thought the same when I first heard Standing outside the fire. In my opinion there seems to be A lot of fakeness to Garth! I could be very wrong that's just the feeling I get from him.
"Isnt it time to stop somehow..AIR too angry to breathe..Do you care enough, where's your Conviction of the Heart..One Earth, one sky, only one Life, only one chance to live" Great song for humanity's fight against this global crisis Covid19
I have a dream, That others aren't defined by their outward appearance but rather on the fire in the eyes, The lines on the hands, The things they can understand. That we can accept people for who they choose to be no matter how different it is from us. People often forget, Everyone tries to be good.
