I have coached youth football for 10 years and the first thing I told parents when we moved to 11s was that there was no sideline coaching from the parents, I encourage positivity and want them to encourage but I tried to develop problem solving footballers! I use guided discovery and train through numbers so a number 7 should have 3 attacking and defensive responsibilities in that role for the game! Example one common team objective is when we are attacking we should have 3 in the box, creating 2v1s etc and I really enjoy it! No pressure on results all about growth mentality
Si, for the amount of players you know in the game and how much time you had in it it's genuinely mind blowing how much names you mispronounce, like genuinely mad 😂
Alright guys big fan of the new segment on the podcast and have a question for the show. Out of all the changing rooms the guys have been in what teammates were the best dressing room DJ’s or any absolute shockers ? Also what kind of Bands / Artist do the guys enjoy and any good stories from gigs they’ve been to ?
Question for the lads for next week - would you prefer to score the winning goal for your country to win the World Cup or the winning goal for your boyhood club to win the Champions League? Also what type of finish would it be? Cheers lads love the pod
Walking the dug pishin myself at Slaney's pronunciation of "Anonymous" Similar to Andy's school story...Was aged 12/13 & I had a very small teacher for home ec. She sent me outside one day and told me I needed to grow up. Burst out laughing and told her that if anyone needed to grow up it wisny me. Didn't go down well..
Question for the show next week. Slaney - If you hadn’t had the move to Celtic and had stayed at Motherwell do you think you would have had a longer career in the top flight. Obviously injuries hampered your career but with potentially recovering from them at Motherwell you weren’t under the same mental pressures that come with playing for the Old Firm.
Question for the lads: when we getting a sound engineer 😂. Love the show but it’s big hit and miss when it comes to the sound. Such a simple thing brings it up another level lads
Hi lads following on from question about kids football last week. Do you think you can teach a kid mentality, like fighting for every ball etc or is it something u either have or don’t in ur game ? I was a scheme boy so always loved that part of the game but feel it’s hard to ask of my son without sounding negative.
Question for the show!! VAR - With decisions for offside being given when a player is a bawhair offside... How does VAR work if nobody is measuring the exact moment the ball leaves the foot!? Or do they!? 🤔
Question for next week - what players have the guys played with who weren't technically that great but their hard work and mindset set them apart from everyone else and went onto bigger and better things?
Question for next Week: Big Kev has spoken openly about his mental health struggles after and during his football career… bravely may i add… have any of the other on the panel had any issues themselves or anyone close to them in football? And surprised them how it gripped them? Any chance Slaney can read this out as his reading technique sounds like Steven Hawking 👍🏻
@@edwardkerr2951 about o’hallorans time at Rangers he was doing extra training at the astros with his dad and O’Halloran was said to be scuffing crosses into His old man to tap in and he was apparently awful and misplacing them etc
Celtic fan here and I agree that Advocaat's Rangers team was the best I have seen and I always rated Barry Ferguson, although I didn't like him when he played. Since he retired I actually don't mind him as a pundit now.
Totally understand Andy wanting his team mates in he Scotland squad , the one thing this convo made me think tho was shit our squad is decent . When kenny said that 8 from game against Ukraine play in premiership , cal mac who is Celtics best player week in week out , Gordon who’s been doing it at the very top for about twenty years and hendry who let’s be honest has stepped up in the last couple of seasons and deserves so so much credit and is now playing in serie a and there’s some youngsters who could be very good if they can get some good game time at the clubs.
Question for the show. Would Andy Halliday sign for Scott brown as his manager if it was the right football move for him? Being a former teammate What does Kenny think of broony as a player and a guy?
As much as I rally have n on t exactly loved kenny miller 😏🤣 you have to admire ye knows his stuff , n I don’t think anyone who’s honest would deny he was a top top player
I got slaughtered for saying Beale could be a replacement for GVB if/when the time comes. I really want Gio to come good but if the worst came to it, Beale would be an excellent replacement. Gerrard admitted himself he learned so much from him and he's clearly a good coach. We'll see wot happens.
I just said I always hoped Lee Wallace would come back to Hearts until I heard Andy mention he tried to get him back. What a player he was, saw him play his very first game for Hearts v Killie when he was 17. Slaney, the only reason you like De Bruyne is cause he’s ginger.
Question for next week, can you ask Slaney why I seen him and Philip schofield playing golf last weekend and after every good shot Slaney hit him and Schofield kissed? Cheers
Hindsight great. No Tierney,No Robertson,No worries. Got a great squad now. Proved it tonight.Giving loads o boys experience, piss all between them all.
The game Andy is talking about was on 1/4/17 and finished 1-1 not 2-1, Moult scored for Motherwell after 3 mins, Joe Garner made it 1-1 in the 2nd half
Andy did u play for rangers boys club and play hutchie vale in a semi of Scottish cup at 3rd Lanark game I played. Against fleck can’t remember if u played it not
🔼Question for the guys🔼 In football, why is it always ex players that are managers and coaches...(outside of people's dads at junior) Some people with no talent or developed playing talent at least or perhaps those with health conditions preventing play, can see what might improve results, they could be effective at communicating ideas and tactics very well. Might manage resources better and could have a perspective that could be very useful... What would you think of coaches and managers getting chances in the game that didn't play the game? Also, Southgate with the helmet on on the cool down bike is hilarity. 🤣🤣🤣
Question for next show for all the lads. If you are head of the spfl what actions would you like to see implemented for the youth football and in turn a better Scottish national team?
It’s getting better no gonna lie, I played for raith/Dunfermline/Stenny 2006-2012 at youth level and it was smash it upto the striker who had nothing bar height , players in midfield who were class ended up being released
@@kengxcassell5017 he wasn't there with warburton mate think it was O'Halloran he was talking about, can remember the story about him whipping crosses into his dad at broadwood ahahah probably not went down too well.
