Two superstars that can give a live performance that sounds just as good as their recording. No auto tune, no fancy production. Just two incredibly talented performers.
The audience should have been on their feet and giving Dolly and Kenny the biggest Standing Ovation of their lives! No performers like this anymore. Two sublime irreplaceable star studded and talented individuals. Just love them. This is their song always … Pure Americana! ❤️
Dolly's way of singing and her energy keeps the audience alive and kicking. No dull moment with her performance. They match well. Can't get enough of this song. I just love the song.
Such a natural, powerful duet. I like how right in the middle of singing Dolly says "excuse me kenny!" Both artists at the top of their craft, complete professionalism with that genuine personal note/ friendship/ intimacy. Probably the absolute best version of this song.
@@karlsmith2570 Lol awesome! So cute these two are! I didn’t catch her stepping on his foot and was trying to figure out why she had said excuse me Kenny 😂👍.
I remember when this first came, my (then) wife and I danced to this at our wedding - this was OUR song! 8 years she’s been dead and I still remember that dance like it was yesterday. Love you all ❤️
i am sorry as well. but you got a once in a lifetime chance to spend life with a great person. hope youre doing well. much love to you as well. i couldnt imagine how to get through that, you tough sob
May the peace of God rest upon those who listen to this song. Who is still listening to it in 2024? I want to tell the person who is reading this message, that I wish them in 2024, a good life, blessings, peace and harmony, that you know that you deserve the best, that you are the best
i agree even though i didnt grow up to his music i love his songs expecialy this song this was my nans faviourte song and she has passed and this song is truly amazing but now kenny has passed it just makes the song sadder to me and if you play the song in 0.75 playback speed i find its alot better to listn to i think everyone will agree kenny will be missed
I love this clip, this song and theese to people so very much. So pure, genuine a wholesome... I gets me every time. Dolly's giggle is just the best, she is a treasure.
Elia Clemente .. dolly and Kenny didn’t lip sync in this , however back then a lot of artist did, go back to solid gold, soul train ,America bandstand and mid night special. It happened then and will continue. By the look of your pic I say you were that decade, because I am as well.
Two awesomely talented singers whose chemistry combined for an incredible performance of this delightful song! Thank you both and thank The Bee Gees for composing it!
Now that's well written, good ol classic CWM! Dolly Parton has so much positive energy in her performance and I am glad she's returned to her old roots of singing christian music lately. Kenny Roger is energetic and has that phenomenal sound that just makes you smile and feel good. This number takes me back to when my mom would be doing her hair up in the morning and I was getting ready to go off to 3rd grade class. I'm 52 now and I appreciate it through a new set of eyes and ears. Most people don't know that this number was written by Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb for Marvin Gaye.
I have memories too with my Mom, she would clean the house every saturday morning blasting this song. She had the records and 8-tracks. Just pure amazing memories.
I'm watching this after the announcement of his passing. And it is funny, because there was always rumors for years that him and Dolly were real lovers, both of which consistently denied. Both of them consistently expressed genuine love, adoration and respect for each other as people and artists, without the romantic entanglements and to be honest, I find that more beautiful.
Baby, when I met you there was peace unknown I set out to get you with a fine tooth comb I was soft inside There was something going on You do something to me that I can't explain Hold me closer and I feel no pain Every beat of my heart We got something going on Tender love is blind It requires a dedication All this love we feel needs no conversation We ride it together, ah ha Making love with each other, ah ha Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in between How can we be wrong? Sail away with me To another world And we rely on each other, ah ha From one lover to another, ah ha I can't live without you if the love was gone Everything is nothing if you got no one And you did walk in the night Slowly losing sight of the real thing But that won't happen to us and we got no doubt Too deep in love and we got no way out And the message is clear This could be the year for the real thing No more will you cry Baby, I will hurt you never We start and end as one In love forever We can ride it together, ah ha Making love with each other, ah ha Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in between How can we be wrong? Sail away with me To another world And we rely on each other, ah ha From one lover to another, ah ha Sail away Oh, come sail away with me Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in between How can we be wrong? Sail away with me To another world And we rely on each other, ah ha From one lover to another, ah ha Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in between How can we be wrong? Sail away with me To another world And we rely on each other, ah ha From one lover to another, ah ha Islands in the stream That is what we are No one in between
There are good singers. There are good performers. Not everyone is both. This performance is so wonderful. The energy level! Thank you for sharing this. I love this song and this performance in particular.
What’s crazy about her voice and will always boggle my mind , is how her voice is not inherently powerful, but somehow she can come across as singing a whisper or complete vocal powerhouse in the same breath .
Dolly Parton makes me feel so much better about everything. She’s such a beautiful soul. I have endless respect for her talent and the way she’s tastefully portrayed herself with feminine power and grace while always commanding respect and never losing poise for a single moment.
My dad is a giant metalhead and he thinks all other music sucks, however when this is playing and mom and him are in the car together it turns into a karaoke mobile. You can just feel the love in the air. Almost maried for 25 years and still going strong :)
@DaFuMiquel I'm happy for your mom and dad. ❤ This also inspires me and my partner. Please watch our live acoustic version of this song : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KiZCndsXW-k.html
What a beautiful country music song of all time. Barry Gibb is such a talented song writer. He has outdone himself with the lyrics and music for this song!!!
The emotional explosion i feel when Dolly really gets into it is amazing. The chemistry between her & Kenny is equally amazing. I've seen other duets over the years and this one... THIS one is the only one i feel as well as hear.
She is a national treasure.and a living legend .if your listening Dolly, and if you decide to do some concerts in Europe we would love to see you back in Ireland again.best wishes from the" Emerald Isle " ☘️☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪💚💚🇺🇸🇺🇸.
I was thinking he copped a feel just before that moment...."maybe this is the year...." Her cuteness is overwhelming and this is a true treasure of a song.
Fucking right. I'm a Hispanic city boy and I'll take Dolly, Kenny, George Jones, Kitty Wells, Conway Twitty, Randy Travis, and countless others any day over modern rap.
I truly feel like having lost someone very dear. Kenny was there with his voice through my young years, since late 1970's. Peace to his soul. He must have had a great one. The honesty in his singing always showed that.
KENNY RODGERS: A TRIBUTE Dear Kenny, Even though I was “The Gambler”, And a “Coward of the County”, Eventually, “You Decorated My Life” With “Islands in the Stream”. Today, I join Dolly Patton in whispering: “But You Know I Love You,” For we thought we had “Got Tonight” To enjoy the “Blaze of Glory” As we reflect “Through the Years” To testify the power of “Buy Me a Rose”. But alas! All we can do today is dream, Yet you told us that: “Don’t Fall in Love with a Dreamer” For “Love Will Turn You Around” Even though “She Believes in Me”. The world rejoiced on August 21, 1938; But March, 20, 2020 is a sad day For a life of about 82 years has ended.... Yet, “The Greatest Gift of All” Came through you, for: “Once Upon a Christmas”, You were our “Evening Star”. Like “Lucille”, You picked a sad time to leave us, Rodgers! What a “Buried Treasure” we have lost! It is hard for us to believe you are gone! Even "Every Time Two Fools Collide", Your " Handprints on the Wall" are clear And your "Real Love" still tells us that "You Can't Make Old Friends". REST IN PEACE
Two Legends that not only show you what the best versions of an Artist could be but that of a Man & Woman as Well…These two were never together but show you nevertheless how deep respect can run for Craft & how well the opposite sexes can get along & complete each other in the most authentic, talented & playful of ways…Even the way the Audience is Dressed, Takes it in & Layers the Atmosphere further is a lost form of Art…Thank you Dolly & Kenny for Making Memories & Life better in ways that still pays it forward for us lucky enough to have experienced full context from then till now…Very Eternal as God intended it to be.
For my wife Meldan - When we married so many years ago we made a pact that it'd never end in divorce, but rather a fight to the finish and the winner take all. Well we're still together and still enjoying life and each other. Love ya, Babe
No one could have done this song better then Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. This song will go down in history as a great duet done by two of the greatest voices ever to sing... Rest Easy Kenny
They are surely damned, cursed, woe-be-gotten. They are like lost sheep on a mountain-side, with thunder and lightening crashing all around them, and the shepard at the foot of the mountainside, with his van, ready to take them to the slaughterhouse as soon as the storm abates.
dude stfu, we have it so much better than you guys. We can access any song from any era, without ever having to buy a record, leave the house or wait for it to come on the radio to tape it.So tell me how your era was so much better?
By getting out there to meet real people for one. The fun of actually taping a song, and when we bought a record, we actually created jobs in record shops etc.
magic skills is the "me me gimme gimme now" generation. Yes you can download music instantly, but the music is garbage. Yes the 80's were awesome. People thought about more than just themselves.
When I was 7 my mom took me to Dollywood, and Kenny Rogers was there to do a concert with Dolly. My mom sent me up to the stage with a gift for Dolly when the concert started because Dolly is her favourite musician ever, and Kenny pouted and went backstage when he realized I didn't have a gift for him. He was so funny about it you would have thought the entire scene was planned out beforehand. It's one of my favourite childhood memories! RIP Kenny!
I am here because someone requested me this song and i need to watch it over and over again ,,oh my God they are both awesome + iconic + legend for singing , most specially for singing this song .. ❤
No need for fancy dance moves, video projections, or distractions just a great melody and two fabulously charismatic singers relating with joy. Perfection!
