This was such a great performance of Kenny's Up Close and Personal show. I had amazing access shooting from the stage and bitter sweet seeing Kenny's guitarist, the late great Jerry Friedman. www.kennyvance.com
dave0028 indeed. this is why we have videos to share thoughts and opinions. I was thinking about Eugene Pitt and the Jive Five, Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge, and the mighty Emil Stuchio. and his Classics. Happy Holidays!
dave0028 which is exactly the reason I keep my Sirius XM subscription up-to-date. I love the 50s channel. Actually, 40s swing bands through the 80s. I don't really care for anything newer.
This was by far the greatest doo-woop session of all time, the song and the guitar sounds and the overall musical Experience was #1 of all time, in any decade. The Sound Presentation was Super Amazing and Fantastically Beautiful, in every Word imaginable. Years of Practice, all came out in one Glorious Moment. While it is true that guitar noodling was not a prominent feature of vocal harmony group r&b singing (aka "doo wop" music), to my ear, at least, the guitars of Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Chet Atkins, Barney Kessel, James Burton, Carl Perkins, Hank Garland, Scotty Moore, Duane Eddy, Jimmy Reed, BB King, Cliff Gallup, Buddy Holly, and others who recorded in the 1950s, sounded a heck of a lot better than much of what came later. These people INVENTED the phrasing and techniques you refer to.
