Doo Wop legend Kenny Vance performs this classic hit. Not the Lauryn Hill or Sesame Street Doo Wop hits but still rockin crowds in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York and worldwide, a gentleman with soul in his doowop.
I love Kenny Vance. My grandsons and I sing along with him when he sings"Looking for an echo". They think he is so cool, which he is. Hoping he still does concerts. Saw him twice at Ocean Grove. Absolutely the best !!
There are days when I wish I could roll back the clock & take all the sadness away , but I have a feeling that if I did the joy would be gone as well ! Take Care Friend 🎉
I've had the pleasure of being at one of Kenny's show. What a great artist of Donald Wop music. Doo Wop you will always live on in the millions of fans you have.
WHAT A GREAT SONG , A GREAT VOICE, A GREAT GROUP, A FANTASTIG GUITARRIST AND A WONDERFUL SHOW , LIVE !!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING MY FRIEND KENNY !!!!!!!
I saw him perform at a concert in New York he has one of the greatest voices i ever heard in my life. I love every song he sang. .. He’s an amazing singer and performer.
Hi my dear darling Katherine. You had written that you were 74 years old, but at this age I estimate you to be much younger. My estimate of your age is approximately 64 years old and NOT OLDER!!! I am very happy that I can communicate with you from time to time. It does me good, because despite many setbacks I am a single man. Ideally, I would like to meet a very sweet and reliable woman who can mutually support each other, and so on. Lots of love and a big hug from me,,,, you Walter 😍🤩😎💝💖💝👌👌👌
My favorite Doo Wop song!! "Looking for an echo!" Never get tired of hearing it. Great NY song. It should get more air time. Kenny, you re still appreciated.
Still listening to this song brings me back to Bklyn no better place to grow up we use to go down to the subway station on Church Ave and MacDONALD to harmonize God bless you Kenny
At Erasmus Hall High School, we used to harmonize Me and Benny and Aaron and two Italian guys We were singing oldies, but they were newies then And today when I play my old 45's, I remember when We'd practice in a subway, in a lobby or a hall Crowded in a doorway, singing doo wops to the wall And if we went to a party and they wouldn't let us sing We'd lock ourselves in the bathroom, and nobody could get in 'Cause we were looking for an echo, an answer to our sound A place to be in harmony A place we almost found And the girls would gather 'round us, and our heads would really swell We'd sing songs by the Moonglows, the Harptones, and the Dells And when we sang "Sincerely, " we really sang it high Even though it was falsetto, we almost reached the sky We've sung a lot of changes since 1955 And a lot of bad arrangements we've tried to harmonize Now we've turned into oldies, but we were newies then And today when I play my old 45's, I remember when We were looking for an echo, an answer to our sound A place to be in harmony A place we almost found
What a performance! Listening to your recordings always brings me to tears. The bittersweet feelings of nostalgia just take over and I'm instantly transported back to those golden years.
Am amazed that only 8.6K responded thumbs up. It''s deserves better, but sometimes when listening I get mesmerized and forget to vote thumbs up for music videos that I love. Feel bad for the 534 who indicated thumbs down , hope life for them is not deplorable. I wonder what kind of music they like.
The best times of my life. The music was amazing! The cars, chrome with class and style. Drag racing almost every night. Listening to the Wolfman on our AM radio, playing our 45 records. We had it all, drive in movies, no traffic, no emission bullshit and the cops didn't bust our chops. We had real freedom back then. I feel so sorry for the younger generations. They don't know what true happiness is. Rock on Kenny, Doo Wop forever. What a hell of a performance. From hy hometown, Brooklyn, Go, Brooklyn, Go!
WILLIAM EDWARDS couldn’t agree more with you, I am 70 now and sure do miss those times, the 60’s were great yet hard JFK, MLK, RFK, Civil Rights, Vietnam but I would go back to 50s & 60’s in a minute all the great things you mentioned the muscle car era, Wolfman, Cousin Brucie , Doo Wop, all the music and yea the Drive Inns what a time or as they say oh what a time!!
This is a grt doo wop ballard and it tells a true story and Eugene Pitt tells the way it went down super smooth lead that aches the harmony with his bandmates let me say his brothers this song wd fill a dance floor and if in a car the volume wd be cranked and the driver and whoever is there wd be crooning along with this song and on the ending they wd be howling this is one of my faves grt song
Every HS in Brooklyn had groups sounding like this back in the 50's. It was really a great age or era. Truly happy days for many of us who lived through it. It wasn't songs of the rich and privileged, it was songs from the heart, mostly guys from lower middle class families, performing un-politicized, with no swearing or hate lyrics . Sorry you missed it. We had love then, where did it all go?
Went to oldies shows all the time and watched him do this live many times..chill and can make you cry when it's done live...I am 58 now and love this music.
Some times it’s hard to choose a favourite song I think there are so many different ones so I just go with whatever takes my fancy at the time but thank you all your replies ❤❤❤xxxxx
Ossie, Georgia I'm 76 how which means I grew up with REAL music but I don't remember this song back. I heard it with this band on one of the PBS shows several years ago. It became one of my favorites.
Such a great song, and nobody does it better! Kenny Vance is one of the only guys in the business who can do his own song twice as good LIVE on stage as he did it on the original record...even decades later!!!
I'm 15 and I've loved and listened to Doo-wop since my great-grandparents played it when I was younger, 4-5 I believe. I love listening to classics such as this with them.
EARTH ANGEL YOU KNOW, SAD BUT TRUE, SOMEHOW I MISSED KNOWING THIS GROUP!!!! A BIT YOUNGER THAN SOME OF YOU THAT HAVE RESPONDED, I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS FINE GROUP! SURE WISH I HAD; AS THEY ARE GREAT!!!😎👍🤗
It's sad to hear what people consider good music today when you hear what beautiful music once was. There are still great bands that embrace the sounds that paved the way to modern music. But this music isn't what sells. Sexy money and material gains is what sells, while you literally have to search out real music in obscure places online or in whas left of local music scenes. As a musician it hurts my soul to put on the radio these days.
@@Jamiir215 I so agree ,it’s sad it’s not music it’s pathetic reproduce garbage same thing over and over .I don’t know how people can listen to it and actually think it’s good .Holy carp! I’m great full I grew up when I did .I’ve seen so many great bands .Much better days in practically every way . I can’t believe the prices they pay for a concerts and sleaze . Where do these kids get that kind of money ( mommy & daddy) I would never have asked my parents for money for a concert.
i remember those times! i would see teenage groups singing in hallways,in the subway and even under bridges, never thought anything about it never thinking it would catch me too ,for a lifetime, because that music was the best of a lifetime.
I was born in 55 why I'am crazy about this music I guess I understand why just beautifull,I should like the seventies or eighties but they don't have it
Linda &I have gone to see these guys at least a dozen times! They always had other oldie groups with them like “Little Anthony & The Imperials”, even surprised us with Dion one time. We were never disappointed👍👍👏👏❤️❤️
I so agree it was the best time to be alive no problems like we have nowadays just good music good fun and that's all we had to worry about. Everyone please stay safe and enjoy the music from back then that's all we really have left!
What a heart warming and delicious song. Great idea for a fantastic cause. Nice to see the original group. Kenny looks fine, does he ever age!!!! Thanks for this treat.
@@jackwilliams5474 real talent and no auto tune when artists could actually sing and you can easily understand the lyrics and no dancing naked girls... Kenny Vance and the Planatones are a real band not like today where they have "groups" SMH
Best music…Kenny you bring me back to the most wonderful music ever….I was at Mohegan Sun 2-20-22…..OMG best show ever. Ladd wow…. Our music was magical, innocent, so much love.
Your voice is still absolutely GREAT!! WOW!! I absolutely LOVE this! There is nothing like the old DooWop songs, kids nowdays don't know what real living is like what we all had. Thank u 4 sharing this and u r blessed to still have such a wonderful voice :)
Great song!! I heard it first on a Doo Wop special on PBS last year and it's been in my head ever since. When is he coming to Toronto, I'd really like to attend. Truly talented group!!
