Man, Cousin Kenny is simply one of the underrated America treasures of music. His playing is informed by his encyclopedia knowledge of music history, and he plays from the heart while being technically incredible. It don't get much better.

In my opinion Kenny Vaughn is one of the best guitarist in the business. I also enjoy Kenny's lead vocals. Like when Marty Stuart shares the spotlight and Kenny sings lead. Love it, Otis! I’ve seen Kenny live a few times when he’s out with Marty. That’s a great show too, Kenny’s a damn fine singer as well as a guitar hero. Gotta get to Dee’s soon. Thought I saw Jon Byrd lurking in the background in the opening shot. Another great Dee’s denizen. I’m at Red Wing, a festival in VA, a lot of music you’d like here. Have a great weekend!

Love your promotion of Kenny Vaughn. Very much appreciate your conversations with Kenny. Introduced me to a lot of music I hadn’t listened while working and raising 5 kids. The artistic visuals really grab me! I'd watch a full video of those, with or without any sound. Actually reminds me of the nighttime still photos I used to take years ago, so maybe it's just me who's into that aesthetic. Good music too.

I remember when Kenny was playing a pink Strat, Denver in the eighties. The instinct and technique cast long and flowing shadows. Great trio! Great video, Otis!

I"m not nearly at Kenny's caliber, but being exposed to his playing and his fantastic album has completely changed the way I play. One thing I noticed is that he is totally relaxed when he plays - he smokes everything he does, very melodic....just an all-around fantastic player. Thank you, Kenny.

I stumbled on Kenny at Dee's on RU-vid after your Dave Roe interview when I went looking for more on him and found a few videos of him playing with Kenny there. Then I saw that Dee's puts most (all?) of its shows online and have been following since. Even when you don't bring us directly to the cool stuff (right away) you leave the breadcrumbs.

A lot of people don't know who Kenny is. If you're a musician, and especially a guitar player, you probably do. He's only underrated in that most people know little or nothing about him, but if you are 'in the know' then you know how good he is. The bass player and drummer/singer were great here as well. I only discovered him originally because of old Marty Stuart Show reruns on RFD TV. Glad I came across those! Since then I've seen plenty of videos on YT. It would be nice to see him play live. Come on over to the Detroit area, Kenny!
