Dude, I was right there, front and center at the House of Blues in '01, jamming to The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. The vibe? Pure cinematic awesomeness, man.
You should give credit to Noah Hunt for all the singing he's done for Kenny Wayne Sheperd too. He's an under appreciated singer and that needs to be changed.
I'm reading comments of folks comparing KWS and Noah to other performers. Not fair. These two have their own style as does every other entertainer. These two are a match made in Heaven, KWS is one of the top 10 guitarists in the world and Noah has amazing presence and a great voice. They compliment each other's talent perfectly. I'm sorry but anyone who states these guys...this band...don't have prodigy-like talent can't possibly know much about real music. Saw them last night and was mesmerized. The collective talent is over the top. Wish I could see them again tonight...and tomorrow night...etc.
KWS is nowhere near a top ten guitarist. I've heard and seen much better. Try listening to Andrew Latimer (Camel), Steve Hackett, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) for starters.
While this is an old show, it's great to look back to see just how far Kenny has matured as an artist and as a person. I'm certain he is also the inspiration for many young and future Guitar Slingers. An amazing talent whose success is well deserved and earned.
Man Time sure does fly I remember hearing Blue on Black for the very first time back in LA on KLOS I was BLOWN away and now here we are 22 years later and it still blows me away
Kenny is freakin unbelievable. This singer is just like a guy from room full of blues. Not trying to compare. this guy is phenomanal. I can only compare apples and oranges but he is the best i"ve seen since the very best and honestly have seen the best. Kenny is the best guitarist that has come along in a long friggin time. I love the vocals by the way too. Would love to here a little more Bass. Fanfuckin tastic. amazing
Randy Rowe i agree! i saw them play last night. 'play' is not even in the vicinity of the word you give to what kenny does with a guitar. he is under rated for sure! life changing, musically religious experience.
gosh, this is 15 years ago! Kenny & Noah have been together for a long time! The years fly by so quickly. Hoping to see them in Houston the end of September. Wish I could see them with Jonny Lang this year also.
The KWS band is awesome… between the superb musicianship and fabulous vocals by Mr Hunt, no winger they’ve been around so long - and are still packing venues

So. . . a nothing special guitar player and a guy who can't sing. . . what's so great about that? Sounds like 99% of everything released since 1990 or so - banal audio drivel, fueled by the Celebration of Mediocrity. Tin ears, rejoice. . .
Oh, I see. . . I have to be more amazing than the mediocrity I complain about in order to be allowed to complain. . . Ok, I can play that game. You have to have more advanced degrees than I have (1 Masters, 2 Bachelors, 3 Associates) before you get to complain about me. It was a learned behavior - I learned at a very young age to hate those who promote ignorance and intellectual laziness as virtue.
There is nothing mediocre about this. You just don’t like it. And because you don’t like it you post nasty spiteful comments. That is a sure sign of insecurity. And by the way you don’t have any of those quail’s so stop lying about it.
Reverend Draco it is sad that you have these negative thoughts. They were so young at the time, just a few years out of high school, working so hard at every show and every cd year after year. Noah has always sounded so amazing and Kenny sounded great way back then and he only gets better and better. A success in my book. They are both great musicians, they have put out so many crazy good cds, worked their way up the ranks, and now one of the top blues rock bands anywhere. Everyone has their opinion and that is fine, but sorry I don’t agree with you in the slightest. Take care
