He wasn’t abusive he was just a strict hard working man who wants his nephew to follow his path. Definitely not a an easy life running a farm. Owen didn’t raise a weak willed Child which helped luke in his life.

Joel Edgerton is seriously slept on, underrated actor that's been constantly working for years. He was so good in the MMA fighting movie with Tom Hardy where they're brothers.

I couldn't agree more. Owen being worried and yet relatively silent gives the opportunity to turn him into a character that truly was trying his best to protect Luke....Still, I wonder if the events of this mini series will lead Owen to let Ben sorta indirectly start to train Luke.....buying him the T-16, passing along certain key advices. Owen will probably get to a point where he'll have to think "If he receives no training and his found out, he's dead for sure......if he receives all the training, he could turn into Vader....or into Anakin (depending of what he knows of Anakin.) As someone already mentioned on this comment, Owen probably gave Luke the relatively great set of values he has....well except for his thirst of adventure.....well, maybe keeping him on his farm made it worse, but it definitely was not the best Jedi trait for Luke....nor Anakin lol. If Anakin hadn't been introduce to the concept of the force by being told "Hey kid, you're the chosen one, you're going to be better than everyone here", maybe he would have been a bit more eager to learn, a bit more respectful, and a bit less creepy (See what I'm talking about? M'lady? :p)

I don't think obi wan told Owen about anakin being vader. I think he just told him what he had told luke in ep 4 that a student of his betrayed and killed Anakin and because of that, Owen doesn't want obi wan to train luke because he's afraid that he will be killed the same way Anakin was killed when obi wan had took him under his wing.

@@TheDarkarrow7 Be a slave or be a Jedi. That's not much of a choice. And anyway Anakin was 9. You do not make life-changing decisions at 9 years old. Besides the Jedi became his carers, they were supposed to look after him. Instead they threw into a war the Jedi had no part to play in. And as a Tatooinian Anakin even less, he's not of the Republic technically. Most importantly he knows they kept young Anakin and his mother separate, that they left said mother into slavery, and that had Anakin been allowed to go save her she wouldn't have died. Owen has every reason to hate the Jedi for what they did to his family.

Umm Owen didnt grow up knowing about him having a brother. He was already an adult with Beru when Shmi married his father. Anakin is just his step brother who he knew for like two seconds

@@deannamarie3746 dude hated Star Wars after finishing up Return of the Jedi, he hated how he was recognized more as Kenobi than the other works he even made a kid cry once when the kid asked for an autograph he responded "get a life kid, stop living in a space fantasy"

@@sabergater174 not surprising, he was formerly prominent in many more serious roles, but the star wars one ended up being the one that ultimately solidified him as that particular character. I just think Alec would respct Ewan at basically playing a young version of himself, movie and character aside

It's true, Obi Wan's life includes a series of tragic events.......and yet he manages to see the bigger picture. The man is a true Jedi. He's completely human, feels the same emotions as other humans, but he puts the greater good before hisself. I always loved that character.

I agree. And there's funny bit of irony for Edgerton and Ewin McGregor here. Apparently, Edgerton has a brother, whom was McGregor's stunt double for Attack of the Clone and Revenge of the Sith. Plus, originally inGeorge Lucas' script,Owen and Kenobi were going to be brothers, not Anakin & Owen. Quite the Irony.

Actually Obi-Wan's training of Luke was not that good, but he did show him the most important thing, sacrificing himself for something bigger.

There still are some « symptoms » kind of like the wizards in Harry Potter. For exemple Anakin ( and later Luke ) have incredible reflexes which make them natural pilots . And ventres as an infant could accidentally force push when in a extreme emotional state . It is really like Harry Potter magical symptoms.

@@Beforezzz I feel like people don’t seem to realize that in ANY show, the first two episodes or so will always be slow, they literally have to introduce all the characters and such. Even then, I thought the 2nd one was pretty good, other then that grand inquisitor dying so early

@@michaelbryan8860 Not complaining, merely basing my judgment on past Star Wars disappointments Disney. Boba Fett, for example. He's in the title of the show and he barely does anything in it and is, more or less, just a side character in his own show. They even had two episodes that were pretty much just Mandalorian episodes and Fett wasn't even in them. So pardon me for voicing my skepticism on a show I want to be good, but past evidence leading me to not believe it will be.
