Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is my absolute favorite place on earth. It is a beautiful area and so much fun to visit (at least for me). I have been there in several different seasons. An author from Kentucky, Janice Holt Giles, writes about the Shakers as well as other things about Kentucky. Another reason the Shakers died out is that they depended on recruitment as they were celibate. If I knew then what I know now...I would have moved to Harrodsburg when I was 18 and loved it!
