Watch this video to view one way to wrap boxing hands for pro fighters, using rules specific to the Kentucky Boxing & Wrestling Authority.
RULE: 201 KAR 27:011
Section 26
2. soft cotton bandage shall not be more than 2" x 12 yards for each hand
3.a. tape not more than 1" in width
b. tape not lapped more than 1/8"
c. tape not to exceed one layer over the back of the hand for its protection
d. 3 strips of 1/8" tape for the knuckles

Check the CA state athletic commission for rules. I know they're there. I lived on LA for about ten years. I believe it's pretty standard with 2x2" gauze and 10yd tape each hand. With KY (I never found they enforced this) you are supposed to only have on layer of tape without any overlap. CA you can have multiple layers.
