Butler was a +41! His impact is beyond important for this team! His obviously the alpha leader and sets the tone with his ball pressure, and decision making. Kerr and Brea gives you perfect offensive boost and impact off the bench for Butler, Oweh, and or Robinson.. That 5 is as deep and solid as it gets, and tons of experience and our assist to turnover ratio is already reflecting that
I think you really undersold “The only thing Lamont Butler has on Kerr Kriisa is defense”. That’s half the game at the end of the day, and Lamont is one of the better defenders in the country where Kerr is a liability. The gap between Lamont’s defense and Kerr’s defense is greater than the gap between Kerr’s offense and Lamont’s offense
Guys pope will figure it out , this guy is an excellent coach that is very very smart . Talent is coming also . Pope could be coach of the year in college basketball this year !
I think this team is going to surprise alot of people this season with how good they can be. If they just so happen to have a hot night, their smoking anybody. They already look seasoned in the system, i can only I'm how good they will be by February.
This is great analysis. Thank you. Pope does have a coaching style and coaching personality kind of like Steve Kerr. Otega Owe really is a glue guy, doing everything to help the team and using his physical strength and body control to slash to the basket and to just all around get things done.
I'm a hugh uk fan a old fan that was there when pope won as a player in 96 , I enjoy this show because they do not kiss my uk loving ass , I enjoy criticism even if I do disagree, that all said i have to believe this team with age, couch pope offense and the vision that is being sold and bought that this team will be a good and dark horse team in March. Go cats
The DII preseason rankings came out yesterday and Minnesota St. is preseason #1, and the defending DII national champs. Ky Wesleyan was 37th also receiving votes. So that explains beating them KWC by 71 vs 31 last night. My takeaways from last night's game. Please don't be a serious injury Amari Williams, Sounds like he just banged knees and will be okay, but you never know. Jaxson Robinson is basically a clone of Antonio Reeves. Can you image Antonio and Reed in Pope's system? I get sad just thinking we missed that by a year. This team on October 29th overall looks like it's in midseason form execution wise, effort wise, conditioning wise. Theyre sharing the ball, the balls not sticking at all, theyre not turning the ball over. They have 60 assist and only 13 turnovers in the two games.
reed and reeves are doing just fine in the NBA pope couldnt get jaxson there last year hes not that type of guy. you cant just shoot threes and do nothing else and be a nba type of player smh robinson cant put the ball on the floor
Jaxson Robinson is so smooth and confident in his game and his 3 point shot. His 3 seems completely effortless the way he can release it, even when he is not set or fading away or moving to his right or left. Also his very deep 3s seem effortless. 8 for 12 last night, and he also shot phenomenally in previous game. Garrison was very active and effective last night. He showed confidence and skills. He is going to be very good, still improving with huge potential.
I think it's important to mention that Kobe Brea has two titanium rods in his chin bones. I think Pope is moderating his October/November minutes and ramping him up to be playing the best basketball of his career as the season progresses. We dont want to see him limping thru March like Kellan Grady two years ago.
I was thinking the same thing. Kobe Brea is capable of winning a game for you single handedly. I remember in the tournament last year they were trailing somebody by like 12 or 14 pts in the second half and he bought them back and ultimately made the plays to win the game. He has to be a solid part of this team this year.
You guys do realize that Kirr has been nursing a slight hamstring issue . Pope wasn’t going to play him very long .. guys watching the games and try to know facts about the team before you throw out stupid comments . Kentucky has a mix of 12 guys that could be on the court at anytime . Very very good college talent . This team has a chance to surprise the hell out of so called experts that have been downplaying Kentucky basketball .
This has been said multiple times but Brea has those rods in his legs. While the team was practicing he was watching from the sidelines most of the summer. He is a couple months behind everyone and one thing Pope has shown is he won't mess with players health. I truly believe he would take losses over making small injuries worse.
what is the dude on the left watching half the time he's on this show? guys watching tv while trying to do this show is the hardest thing for me with this channel.
Kobe doesn’t look as good right now but it’s only 2 games in Chaz Lanier hasn’t looked very good for Tennessee either and I was wrong about that in very happy we got Jaxson and Chaz didn’t choose UK because I’m not sure we get Jaxson if he did and Jaxson is clearly better by a lot
I haven’t finished the video yet but dude on the left is looking for anything bad, I mean idk how you are getting paid to talk sports it’s not just Kentucky you don’t know since basic stuff about most teams, no team will shoot 50 or 40 percent from deep, yeah they haven’t played big teams yet but this team won’t hit its peak until December or January like most teams in the country I mean you saying Amari was good when he got hurt very early and had no stats Greg had to tell you, I mean if your going to talk at least watch highlights and look at the box score also Lamont Butler will be so much better at offense than anyone though I told you all summer he was the starting PG he can get to the rim at will and even you can’t find off the shooters him and Otega will get layups so much and Butler will get at least 25 minutes a game
