We review and demo the Kenwood Excelon DMX809S Car Audio Headunit Stereo w/ Wireless Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto Review and Demo. We go over all the key features including HDMI input idatalink maestro compatibility and more.
After a long search I recently bought a very similar european model: dmx8020dabs. I compared many units at the price range and kenwood won because it has (dual) wireless carplay, 5v out, 4 cam inputs (compatible with drvn520 dashcam), dsp, custom wallpaper, custom backlight color, etc. It would be perfect if it had an hd display.
Sir, … Ur review is very good and informative …not only for this one but for many head units … but the only thing I find missing is the information of how it carries the vehicle information in details … not just a word … but a little more …like which connector .. differences as per vehicle etc …whether it carries vehicle information data .. etc …Is there any missing parameters .. of OEM vehicle information…Just my suggestion…
@@mikehughes8023 i got the wiring harness for the steering wheel controls, and a pioneer ntsc backup camera and all speakers are stock (for now). 4 months later, still sounds great and the functionality of the unit is great
might be a dumb question, but the external mic that came with my 709s kenwood unit does not fit into the mic input which is pink / labeled with mic. The mic has a 3.5mm jack.. What am I doing wrong? It doesn't fit snug, and won't stay connected.. ?
Hi, I've been following your channel for a long time and I'm interested in the alpine ilx-507. Do you recommend it to me for the price it has and the sound quality will not disappoint me? I have always owned Pioneer and this would be my first time with an Alpine. I await your answer. Thank you :D!!
Yeah the Sound quality and DSP on that unit is great. If your used to pioneer you’ll be happy with the output on the alpine because it’s better. The ilx-507 is highly recommended by us.
Does the DMX809S support using/viewing google maps via phone's android auto while simultaneously listening to music from a different bluetooth android device (DAP)? I haven't been able to get this to work. Or alternately, while listening to SiriusXM (which I don't have now but may add if that's a solution)? Thanks for any feedback.
I never understand why Car receiver companies are not clear on the screen resolution, that is one of the most important aspects when buying a car stereo, on crutchfield it says that it has an HD screen but in the official Kenwood website it does not mention anything about an HD Capacitive touch screen, so which one is it?
it's kinda weird how smartphones are constantly bleeding edge tech year to year but head units are stuck in 2005. it's absolutely bonkers how slow they're developing
Screen panels are SUPER expensive. 720 is technically HD, but anything higher than that will increase the cost of the unit significantly, thus making it cost-prohibitive for the majority of the market.
srs question, when you make adjustments to sound settings, does the sound cut away as the deck is setting the value? I need a HU that doesnt cut the sound as you change EQ, DSP, x-overs, etc. Makes it hard to hear the difference.
@@BreakersStereois the sound quality on this Excelon similar to the JVC kwm785bw when using head unit power only? Would you recomend the JVC instead when on a budget? 1 v preout difference isn't a good reason to spend more to me. Plus I prefer the way the interface looks on the JVC.
In addition to better functionality, the sound is far superior to my stock 2021 GM infotainment system. A car stereo is only as good as it's weakest link. Installing a stereo with a stock head unit ruins the potential.
HD radio and 5V preout aside the 809S is pretty much identical to the 8709S. I have the latter and it's pretty good for the money. BTW, Kenwood recently released firmware and app updates for this that noticably improves the touchscreen response and UI clarity. They're definitely worth checking out. 👍
