Great unboxing! Early Christmas gift to self here. My 890-s just arrived this week (12/12/2023). Will finally get to integrate it into the station soon, can't wait! By now, you have been enjoying it for some time. Thanks again for sharing your excitement. 🙂
@@mike-M0MSN Thanks! It is now in the station and I am in LOVE. I run an HF net 4 nights a week and the waterfall, bandscope, and broadcast audio were a dream to set up! I have a noise level that I have been plagued with for that past 5 years. I am about to finally call the elec. co. to check out the lines for a bad insulator. BUT, my eyes got a little misty when the NB 1 took it away! S9+ level went down to S7 and it was GONE, I could here my check ins clearly! My trusty 830S or newer Yaesu DX3000D would not touch it. So, needless to say the higher cost of one of these upscale radios is really worth it in many, many ways!😊
Hey Mike ..... Thanks for putting the video together ...... I'll be picking up my TS-890 tomorrow and looking very much forward to it ..... I'm adding the 270 Hz CW Filter YG-82CN1 first thing before I power her up ..... Hope to here you on the bands ... de W1SMC ......
@Mike-M0MSN with the multiple inquiries about the mic, and you directing them to your QRZ page, you might want to consider adding the brand and model to that page, since there is only a photo. :-) Congrats on the new rig. Looks beautiful! May be my next rig. My first rig was a use TS-450SAT that I replaced with a TS-590A. Although I also have a K3, I prefer the user interface and audio quality of the Kenwood. I'm not sure I can justify that price tag of the TS-890 right now, but will consider it in the future...maybe if/when propagation ever improves. :-) ~Steve K6WW
It's a beauty ,I will save money to buy one in the future . I have a TS-590sg at present time. One thing I don't like on the kenwoods is the noise reduction it sounds terrible in my opinion. That's why I never use it. Thanks for sharing the unboxing and have a lot of fun with this great transceiver. 73 de Dirk PA1BD
@@anthonycosta1776 no txco issue on the ts890 a lot of the function on the radio give you room to customise to get the bestout of the radio if your appliance and a plug and go op the icom 7610 maybe a better bet
Do you intend to use the rig with the foil on the display? Ouch!! Reminds me of households in the old days that kept their plastic cover on the furniture ;-)
Nice looking rig it's a shame the DSP is as bad as the 590sg. The dsp noise reduction on the newer yaesus are light years better. No underwater muffled sound. And the ftdx 101d is a hybrid SDR And the 890 is just the same old super het design. For 700 dollars less you get more. Even the IC-7610 is way more advanced. Why would one pay more to get less.?
