Hi Tim, the multi-funtion digital display timer is not coming on when I press either clock, graph scroll or set. Green light comes on ok. Do you think I should replace the two batteries located behind this display ? Thanks
Hi Tim, i love your videos, there are clear and very helpful. One question : how did you wired the radio to the signal generator? Also i would like to buy equipments for my future mini lab, could you if you have the time, make a video talking about electronic equipments required to fix and maintain the TS-940 in good shape. Thanks for watching Fabien. I ran a cable from my signal generator to the home brew attenuator then from the attenuator to the radio's antenna input. But be careful to only use very small voltages to keep from overdriving the radio front end. Check out TRX Bench and Buddy at the Radio Shop for some good introductory lab setup tips. The most I have ever done, was open the top and bottom case to clean out the dust or any spider foolish enough to get inside. I need to get in to the fan on the PA. unit, still trying to figure that on out. I removed the cover and Lots of dust on board x--51-1330-00 right behind that fan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have also be looking at that power supply kit. If you do get the kit, please do a video. I did order that supply kit. Not sure why, mine was just rebuilt a few years back, along with my VOM positive probe. Enough about shakey hands when checking the PA Board. I will video the upgrade. To get that PA heat sink off, there are three screws into the chassis. One on each side and one in the middle. There is a whole in the top of the heat sink for access with a long Phillips head. I don't think my PA fan has ever turned on. There is a thermistor on the PA board you can heat up to test that Fan's operation.
@@timtimeprojects3576 Thank you Tim, I looked at the service manual. On page 66/108 the one screw in the middle, was the one that was holding the unit fast. I had to shine a light in the hole just to see it. :) My fan used to come on as needed, it stopped working and the radio would stay at reduced power output. I used a high RPM pc fan running of a DC power supply and that would let me transmit at higher power 100 watts+. But now that is no longer working. I think the thermistor is bad. The sad part is, I lack any real test equipment, other than a cheap Multimeter, or the skill to tackle major repairs, other than that, I can spot a bad Resistors or cold joint, and solder that. I will leave anything major for one more skilled. As Eastwood would say "man has to know his limitations". I love the my 940, I am the 2nd owner, the SK that I got it from, bought it new and had Kenwood work on it a few time in the late 80's early 90's.
