Very great debaters. I sharpen my mind by listening to your powerful words and everyday i listen to you i learn something new. If you enjoy the same show a like👍 on this comment
The motion was skewed to the favour opposers. It was Computer replacing teachers, so the argument by Moi Forces combining teachers and computers wasn't part of the motion and tha facilitators ignored this. The boys cleverly took this advantage and sounded more logical without the examiners/facilitators even redirecting the debate to original motion! The proposers therefore had a tough task to sell the an unsellable. The opposers had it easy and logically by combining teachers with computers. So, the skewed motion handed opposers a win too easily. I therefore opine that proposers never lost the debate but the Composers of the motion gave advantage to opposers. I propose a tie if not a win for proposers for trying to sell a hard to sell commodity.
Not true. The proposers had to prove computers should replace teachers but the opposers could go any path that is contrary to that. Saying teachers cannot be replaced can be done in two ways 1. Teachers should replace computers or 2. Teachers can work together with computers If we go by your logic, even the proposers were off-topic by saying instructors can be used to explain or guide learners on computers. Well, I think the proposers could win if they tried harder by using some points: 1. Computers can allow long-distance learning (learners can learn from anywhere, anytime) 2. Computers can allow learners to learn at their own pace(as opposed to teachers when teachers can get tired of explaining the same thing) 3. Computers can record lessons to be used for future reference (that is, one can use the same notes without writing or memorizing as it can be saved) 4. Computers do not have physical limitations like tribal accents, stammering, poor grammar, lateness, attitude 5. Computers are less costly that is you only need to buy computers; the cost of maintenance per computer is lower than the cost per teacher(in terms of salary and facilitations like chalks, offices, pens, whiteboards) The key is to demonstrate that teachers are not needed entirely at any stage of learning. Once you accept they are needed at any point, you lose the debate so go strong into the debate Rebuttal points 1. An integrated system will fail. For example, Julius Yego became a champion without a coach, after he started using a coach, his performance dropped. Using teachers with computers is not needed. Programmers (not teachers) can set the curriculum in the computer and any needed changes can be modified using the same programmers. A teacher will just be paid for nothing as a learner can pause, repeat or even seek more material from the same computer 2. Firing 250,000 teachers is a good thing, not bad. We need a value addition economy, not a redundant one just to please people yet no value is added. For example, we are paying 250,000 teachers so many millions yet we could invest in one laptop per learner and incur no cost at all for the next 18 years that learner would be in school. What will happen to the teachers you ask? The same thing that happened to laborers when combined harvester, lawnmower, vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, blender and other machines were introduced. If you had a blender that could blend 50 mangoes in less than 1 hour and the only cost you would incur is about 20 shillings in terms of electricity cost, would you instead go employing 3 workers who would manually pound the 50 mangoes into paste in more than the required time and yet you would pay them more? 3. Emphasize you want to do away with the teachers. Give an example where fast learners are inconvenienced by teachers. Some learners can learn the entire syllabus in 1 term yet teachers are dragging them behind for a whole year. These learners could provide more value like research into other fields using the help of computers that can give them knowledge the teacher does not know. For example a form four learner who is done with the syllabus may want to learn about space travel yet his four four teacher knows little about it. The computer has everything in store for the learner. We do not need teachers, in fact, they are a burden. Slow learners are also inconvenienced. This is because they may need more time per lesson as opposed to the usual time allocated. A computer can give that more time as a learner can study the course in bits and pause to his satisfaction 4. Computers have a personal appeal. Lessons can be made fun using videos, voice notes, drawings and other tools. In fact, a computer can produce 100s of images and videos to explain a point in just one lesson. Can a teacher do that? Additionally, if a student does not like a certain video on one lesson, he can skip and go to the next. Can he ask a teacher to stop using a certain teaching method? Of course not. So the argument of personal appeal is trashed 5. Issue of role models. If a teacher is your role model, then a computer can produce 1000s of role models. You learn about great physicists and other notable pioneers in the field using a computer. If role models is your inspiration, then why stop at one teacher and computer can show you millions of role models? Plus, what happens if you do not like your teacher, will you fail in your studies? A computer solves that by simply showing you another model. But try asking your school to change your teacher, see how that goes! NB: I think teachers are amazing and good role models but for the sake of debate, if you want to win, go strong and take no prisoners
I have been following the great debaters for quite a long time but MFA has won me out, how i wish Uganda can compete with u too guys, more love from Uganda
The responses in both teams are owesome, just few penalties have been considered to choose the best. I love all that participated, it's more encouraging. God bless you all.🤝🤝🤝
The teacher gets us inspired and motivate us by doing a self disclosure. No computer could motivate or inspired one by a self disclosure which also helps
Watching direct from Tanzania I would like to congratulate main speakers of both sides for their good flow of ideas and fluency they have I wish to emphasize my leaners to make practices of speaking English language daily!!!
Am I the only one who thinks that the second girl admitted to support the opponent side? She claimed that they should put in place computers in place alongside with the Instructors. It’s then clear that computers shouldn’t completely replace teachers.
Very educational learning and teaching in English oral as a secondary language. More, 'excellent education policy to you Govt to enforce education as tool to conquer the world. I wish my govrt do the same for our education. Love the debate from bothe sides and continue learning from you. Great effort.
The debate is more awsome... congratulations, But at the beginning i was getting bored base on the first speaker. Moi force academic I just wanna say your performance is very much interesting each and every word you speak make 💯🔥 a sense 💪 and power on what you going through on my side computer can replace teacher but on partial......I learnt much thing from you guys 😘🤩
They are soo Eloquent. Much better than some in our main debating house. Issue of ATTITUDE...Don't ignore it. These girls could be pouring their hearts out.
As a computer(software) professional, I can tell you guys some things, There can never be computers/software without humans, Both in the developing side of the story and the consuming side of the story, A software will require a teacher to teach it how to teach before it can teach, Computers are the dumbest things that we humans view as smart,(ask a software developer), The smartness that you perceive a computer to have is just the expression of another human being, Software development is like bringing a novel to life, A book that was just a useless bunch of pages without content suddenly becomes home to ton of knowledge, So when you talk about replacement, please leave those idea in the movies guys, a computer is just a livelier version of a book, In the law that governs software, Developers are treated like artists or writers that write intellectual property. Remove software from a computer and what is left is just a piece of metal, All the games, music, movies, books, websites, social media, and even accessories like cameras they need a human / humans to exist, to continue existing and to make sense in life. Imagine a facebook with just Zuckerberg on it, Imagine a youtube with no publishers, imagine a computer with no user, imagine your computer with no software, Computers are just another form of communication between humans and that is it
You all probably dont care but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
I have enjoyed the debate but one mistake which the judges didn't point out. In a debate you have to stick on one side, the boys said that computers and teachers should be combined which was said repeatedly. So the girls should have won. Both parties though were good.
I totally agree the motion was skewed in favour of the opposers, who had it too easy, actually for them the win was without a sweat , handed on a platter! The motion should have been either or and not an amalgamation. So the motion middle ground as opposed to absolutes, renders it null and void, and if anything the proposers uphill task makes them better debaters.
