She handles [H8] with grace! Thus being 'disliked' may be a walk-in-the park! We think her Mom may have been the immuinzashun Kenya needed to weather/navigate this Cold World, just fine! Just to think... all her Mom may have thought while carrying her for 9 mos.... or... not thought! Was totally d e t a c h e d while pregnant! Again, the silver-lining? Kenya Moore's *Resilience* is Iron-Strong!
Kenya is literally a Black Barbie! She is sooooo gorgeous! I pray she continues to heal from her mother’s neglect and breaks the cycle for her beautiful baby girl 💖
Today is her birthday too! People tend to forget that Kenya was everywhere in the 90s and I never knew how lengthy her resume is. She is a beauty and a Barbie doll to so many darker skinned Black girls and women 😍.
As a black pageant fan, it boils my blood to hear some people say that Kenya hasn't really done anything in her life. Having a USA sash on an international stage of Miss Universe as a dark skinned black American woman in the early 90s was legendary for pageantry and beauty brands worldwide. Her TV and movie experience is noteworthy as her resume is incomparable and extensive compared to her haters. My prayers are for Kenya and her daughter to continue to flourish and Marc please sign the damn papers SMH.
She’s done so much. People who say otherwise probably never worked hard towards any goals. And she’s still flourishing. And even if she decided not to do anything else doesn’t make her less of a person.
Kenya was an inspiration to dark-skinned Black girls who continue to be scorned, even in Black culture. She's beautiful and dispelled the notion that only light-skinned girls are to be desired and held up as the ultimate romantic interest. Like Judy Pace of the 1970s, Kenya truly epitomized the look of beautiful Black women. I hope that you dedicate a bio on Judy Pace as well
I agree and think it's worse in the black culture, after seeing countless shows such as RHOA, LHH, BBW etc and have seen how darker skinned black women are torn apart but glad Kenya has always risen above the mess and has never been a victim or played victim because she knew she was better than that.
@@michellesmith4570 There was a resurgance in the 1970's to celebrate the theme "Black is beautiful" and many dark skinned Black women were charting the music billboards with hit songs. Including Gladys knight & the Pips, Natalie Cole, Gloria Gaynor, Thelma Houston, Love Unlimited and The Three Degrees.
I heard that both her parents were cousins so if that’s true then part of her mother’s rejection was probably linked to shame. But she didn’t deserve that
@@antasiashaw8815 I believe if Kenya would have went to therapy when she was a teen she would have been a lot better off often times the Blk community makes going to therapy seem like something bad but one thing I can say is at least she’s being a better mother to her child she’s making up for what her own mother lacked
Kenya is one of my favorite housewives. Just a beautiful lady inside and out. Its heartbreaking how her mother abandoned her. But I'm glad her father was there for her, and her grandmothers and aunt stepped in to be mother figures to her. I believe her aunt was the one who named her because "she was dark and beautiful". Kenya looks like such a loving and attentive mother to her daughter Brooklyn. Happy 52nd birthday to her!
I went to Cass Technical High School and got to meet Kenya when she visited our school in 2016. I interviewed her for our newspaper. She was so sweet🥰 We appreciate her giving back.
She's STILL beautiful and she's from my native Detroit. Don't care for reality TV. I respect the fact Kenya Moore was Miss USA in 1993 and she acted pretty well in Trois and Deliver Us from Eva. My sister had a class with Kenya at Cass Tech too. 😁
Its no reason to act petty envious mean an messy. I Know she's been thru things. . I saw her struggling when she couldnt afford to pay for parking for a cheap audition. LA is full of struggling artist so no excuse to act the way she act. I see she hasn't landed recent roles because of her demeanor. It doesn't matter where she's from an how pretty she is,. She being judged by her actions now.
As a brown skinned Black girl born in the 80s I was a HUGE Kenya Moore fan before RHOA. Thank you for humanizing her in this video and highlighting her accomplishments. I didn’t watch the show because I didn’t like my SHEro becoming a villain. I had NO IDEA her mom was so cruel. That’s beyond heartbreaking and makes her success a complete miracle in my opinion.
@@SageDruidd , I’ve seen pictures of her as a child and they were the same, I’ve also seen her opening her eyes underwater, and in saltwater, you can’t do that with contact lenses, I know I wear them and wish you could.😑
I will always love Kenya regardless of real housewives. ❤ When I was little, I dreamed of growing up and being as beautiful as Kenya. Other people may take our beauty for granted, but as a little black girl just watching TV, I needed to see all of the gorgeous successful brown women that slayed the 90s. They inspired me and gave me something to look forward to back then.
I feel you bc I felt this same exact way!!!! I remember seeing her and thinking that she didn't really look human and how she reminded me of a Beautiful Barbie doll come to life!! 🥰💓🙏🏿

I love, love, love Kenya. I remember watching when she won Miss USA and it was refreshing and different to see a dark skinned woman win this contest. It was everything. When she came to Housewives, I felt like I was her only fan, especially within my group of friends. I didn’t care what she did, I was here for it. I was also raised by my grandmother and knew the pain of a having a deadbeat mother, so I gave her grace. I’m happy to see her emerge from being the villain. Give Kenya her flowers. 💐
Team Aquarius, we go through the most deepest painful things and manage to still come out on top even when the odds are against us. That's why I like Kenya Moore 🙆🏾♂️❤️🙌🏾 🌹
I was a teenager in the 90s and I remember Kenya on Pantene ads, As well as on "Waiting to exhale" and "Martin." She stood out, You couldn't miss her.....Drop dead gorgeous.....
I remember her having a segment on RHOA talking about her upbringing. I was pretty young and being raised by my aunt. I related so deeply to her story and found solace. I didn’t feel like an anomaly and knew I could do anything if I believed in MYSELF!
What a heartbreaking story how could any mother be so cold and indifferent. She is stunningly gorgeous and what a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing about her overcoming such abandonment..What a knock out!!
Say what you want. They call her a "villain" I say that more often than not she has been SMART, ACCURATE, AND WITTY. Remember when you are mentally sharper than those around you they will make you a villain. I've seen that too many times. I love Kenya.
She’s one of the most stunning beautiful women I’ve seen, I don’t personally care for housewives or any reality show. For that matter but she’s definitely gorgeous, I can also sadly relate, to her broken childhood. As someone who has been adopted and abandoned by my own biological mom, great video as always Karine!!💜
Michael I pray that you are finding healing from what happened with your bio mom. I’ve seen my dad go through this pain with his bio parents, and it’s searing wounds are MULTI-GENERATIONAL trauma. 💔 sending you love ❤️🙏
Karine my Mom had schizophrenia since l was 5 years old my Mom was in and out of mental hospitals. So l didn't have her much. It hurt when I couldn't do things with her that other girls did with their moms. l agree with you sometimes l wish society would talk about mothers who do abandon their children. The hurt is very real.
The episode when she was on Martin was hilarious. Martin was tripping over himself to impress her to get a business contract and Gina was so jealous lol
Oh I'm glad you did that vid. Kenya needs to get that divorce finalized and write her memoirs, her childhood, pageant days, acting days, re-entering the public eye with reality TV to her through ivf and journey to motherhood considering her non-relantionship with her own mother etc ... she has a testimony to share.
She always reminded me of a young Natalie Cole - she's become a balanced villain on RHOA in recent seasons. Honestly, the show kept her name out there and allowed her to pursue new business. I feel like without it, she would've drifted into the background as a black history trivia fact - 2000s, and 2010s were a hard time for black female musicians and actresses - I think she's evolved on TV a lot since motherhood and her appeal is shifting for sure. It definitely helps that she hasn't aged a bit - there will be lots to see from Kenya over the next decade for sure.
@@margarettnwankpah927 Kenya wear contacts She’s generated …. boobs butt an eyes. She denies it but old footage doesn’t lie. It’s ok ✅ whatever make u feel better about yourself but keep it real . We’ might wanna but that body part too 🤨😎
Thank You Karine!…I had absolutely no idea Kenya Moore did practically anything other than “Housewives” She’s beautiful, accomplished, resilient & blessed. May her Birthday Blessings continue 🙏🏽
Great video. Kenya is physically flawless and emotionally resilient to be such a high achiever when she could easily have given up on life. I wanted so badly for her to have a happy marriage to heal her childhood wounds but I saw her on Tamron Hall's show saying her ex isn't co-parenting properly and doesn't see their daughter. That's terrible for any mother but for a woman whose mother rejected her its devastating. It makes me think he's a bad person. I'm sure that Kenya's mother is. I don't know how she was even invited to family events where she would ignore her own child. I'd have thrown her out and cut her off. Anyone who can do that to a child especially their child is evil.
Kenya is stunning. She as been in the public eye for a very long time. After watching this video I can tell Kenya is definitely a survivor and her revenge is all those successes and charitable things mentioned. However I thought the same way as Karine when she started doing housewives. Some people just don’t consider reality shows real TV or a way of entertaining or showing talent. Not to mention playing a character that may be opposite her true personality because some people consider it reality….even if it’s not
I'm so happy for her and all she has overcome. I'm always wishing her the absolute best! She's in the history books, I hate that those women on the show downplay that. And she's a January baby too? No wonder she's awesome!
It’s hard to wrap your mind around how freaking stunning she is 😍 Love, Kenya. I was always flabbergasted growing up in the 90s and seeing her everywhere.
Kenya is sooo beautiful! Despite being on RHOA, her intelligence shined through even on the show! She accomplished so much & her mother choosing to not be there for her… that’s on the mother. Jamie Foxx went through something similar, with his parents, just like Kenya. He said how his parents wanted nothing to do with him & his grandparents raised him. Parents like that gotta remember that the babies grow up & they remember the mistreatment. Also, the parents of Kenya & Jamie seeing & hearing how successful they became is a reminder of what they DID NOT DO or contribute to. Very sad but reality.
I've always thought Kenya was/is absolutely beautiful. With all of the exposure she had, I wish she would have expanded her horizons in men, but until she does the inner work, she'll continue to choose a certain type. I personally hated that she did the Real Housewives, and I do think it tainted her image.
Real Housewives fleshed out Kenya Moore for me. We're 3 years apart so I saw her EVERYWHERE in the 90s but really knew nothing about her! I always thought she was beautiful, but I actually saw how intelligent she was from Housewives: she is a wordsmith that can verbally give you the business!!! I can see how she started companies and made boss moves so this just added another layer to who she is ❤️❤️❤️
I agree I came to truly admire her on Real Housewives because she is very witty and yeah of course she is also a stunning woman. She became my absolute favorite I eventually stopped watching but Kenya kept me interested way longer.
She was a video girl but she tries to clean it up by calling herself a model, her being a villain isn’t made up by the show Kenya has deep issues and you can see it in her eyes. I pray she heals especially now that’s she raising a daughter.
@@dstreet43 Look up her old “modeling” pictures. Kenya is quick to call everyone else a hoe but she’s just the same. She uses her mother abandoning her as an excuse to be a horrible person and she needs serious help, especially for the sake of Brooklyn.
I’ve loved Kenya Moore since day one of rhoa and she really did have a big career before rhoa ! Kenya also changed rhoa as far as drama, and also glamour. Seasons before Kenya was on rhoa their confessional looks weren’t as glamorizing. She doesn’t get the best editing and she’s not perfect but she stands alone on rhoa !
Happy birthday to this beautiful queen! Say what you want about her but I respect her legacy! It kept and keeps her relevant. I hope they give her more opportunity to let us see HER story and background. I would tune in. And seriously, what a beauty. 😍😮💨 Another great video
Kenya is one of the "it girls" of the 90's, especially Black America! She was literally everywhere after she won Ms. USA, guest starring in movies & hit TV shows. I've always been a fan although I do side eye alot of her antics on RHOA. Nevertheless, she's still gorgeous as ever, and hilarious at times.
Well her story is absolutely incredible. I can't even imagine the hole that he created in a child. When your mother rejects you in such a profound and ignorant way. I only watched real housewives of Atlanta for a couple of seasons after she arrived. And one just gets the sense that they're had to be something really painful living inside her that she had not worked through. They portrayed her always as a bully who thought she was above everyone else. There's a lot of manipulating behind the scenes of these reality shows that a lot of us are unaware of.
I LOVE Kenya! I didn't know her entire story and am so happy you brought it to light. It makes me love her even *Moore*! In my opinion, Kenya is cast as the villain in RHOA because she is so beautiful and successful. I was angry when her aunt yelled at her for going to see her mom!?! Why does that family allow her mom to abuse her because she doesn't want to deal with reality? It's cruel and unreal she is allowed to treat her daughter that way. Kenya is absolutely above anyone on that show and I hate hearing those females speak badly to and about her.
And the mere fact that Kenya is an awesome mother to Brooklyn says a lot about her. I actually respect Kenya (even when she's being shady and funny on RHOA🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣) for trying to make her marriage to Mark and being a dedicated and wonderful mother.
I absolutely adore Kenya and her miracle baby Brooklyn. I pray God continue to bless her and use her as an example of excellence for all dark skin Black women.❤❤❤❤
Love this. Kenya is such an inspiration I think especially to dark skinned black girls globally ✨. It's heartbreaking what she went through with her mother's rejection, but it strengthened her at the same time. By the way, I love the background song. What is it called?
Love me some keymora ... hated when they tried to downplay her pagents n title. That was a huge feat. Thanks karina for giving her flowers while she’s still here. HBD Kenya 🎉
I agree with you on the fact that being on reality tv might have tarnished her image a little. I personally didn't know much about her until watching your video. I know not everyone wants to be an inspiration/role model but her story, is a story of resiliance and strength. Her upbringing is one that is too common in underpriviledged communities. It is a story that would resonate with so many people. I hope if she does reality tv again it focuses on her philanthropy and all the good she does in the world. Happy Birthday to this beautiful woman!
Wow; Kenya is a star, even though she had a terrible upbringing. I’m so happy to see her thriving and moved pass her past. She’s beautiful intelligent and sophisticated.
this is extremely emotioal...i love Queen Kenya Moore ..Kenya God Is a A blessing in your Life ..And you are Now a Mother Queen ..shine Bright like the Diamond that you are
She is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. How does a mother ignore a daughter? How? Kenya needs to let God catch her before it is too late. God please help this girl.🕊
A lot of mothers do if they regret the timing or the man that got them pregnant … they act like the victim like the baby just happened to them , they have no accountability and take all their shame and resentment out on the baby .. it’s super sad and disgusting behavior but I can understand why women get like that after becoming pregnant especially with an abusive toxic man …some women don’t have the emotional intelligence to ever recover or heal and move on from that having a baby is dealing in the soul realm some women lose their soul dealing with abusive narcissistic men .. they will just treat their baby like their biggest mistake in life
My understanding from a past Kenya interview, is that Kenya's mother's family was prominent in Detroit back then and ran a business, and Kenya's mother's sibling, had become pregnant and had a baby out of wedlock. Then another daughter became pregnant, who was Kenya's mother, Patricia. Patricia's father, Kenya's maternal grandfather, forbid any more out of wedlock children in his home. So, Kenya's paternal grandmother asked them to give Kenya to her and she raised Kenya. In the early 1970's unwed teenage pregnancies were considered an embarrassment to the family.
Cause they mad at the father. Because they acted on impulse .yt society sees BLK women's only value as breeders even though they not got the money or emotionally ready . She may have been expected to have a man and be seeking normality but the child inside runs away from responsibility .The child was not a boy and in the black community girls are only useful as babysitters , groomers and cleaners
Kenya's haircare line is not just for women of color. Per Kenya, her haircare line is for all hair types and all ethnicities. It just does not work well on greasy hair.
Hey Beautiful, Great video,Kenya shares the same birthday as my late, great Auntie, and believe me That Aquarius spirit is unmatched 🥰😁,She was also on Martin....
Thank you for doing this segment. I don't watch housewives but I've always thought Kenya was a beautiful woman. I liked everything you said as far as her accomplishments being over shadowed by the nonsense of the housewives show. I am now a not a fan but a cheerleader for Kenya and all women. May we all continue to grow and be amazing regardless how rough the road we travel is💯💜.
Some of these things I did not know. But I must say she has definitely made a name for herself. It's sad that her mother was so awful to her. Kudos to her for showing the world that she isn't just another pretty face.
@@nourishevolvethrive4164 welp it’s a good thing she isn’t ugly on the inside, she’s been a friend to people, a mother to her daughter and has shown love to countless charities, worry about your own insides and you will remain blessed 😘
Kenya is still so beautiful! I wish she could have been involved in something more than reality television, but business is business. I wish her all the best❤️😊
She has an extensive resume. While some of her accolades are mentioned in the video, please feel free to Google or even perform a search on RU-vid to get a clearer picture about Kenya.
Kenya is on a show called Special Forces on Fox network Wednesdays at 9pm. The show has maybe 3 or 4 more episodes to go b/4 it's finished but she is killing it on that show.
I love me some Kenya and I'm here for the twirls and drama lol Don't think reality shows are real anyway so however she is portrayed on RHOA doesn't take away from the amazement she is for me tbh ❤
A lot of women have mother issues too. Idk why it’s focused on the father. Deadbeat has no gender! I always felt bad for her when she visited her Mom on RHOA! She is so gorgeous and hilarious to me.
