Kenya: Protesters Force Ruto to Reverse Salary Hike For MPs & Govt Officers | Firstpost Africa
While anger against Kenyan President William Ruto persists, the protesters have forced him to make another U-turn. Now, President Ruto has decided to freeze salary hikes for members of the cabinet and the parliament. The Kenyan Presidency has ordered a review of salary increases for public servants. This comes as an apparent bid to defuse tensions. But the protesters are not ready to budge and want William Ruto to step down. Protests against the Ruto govt continue. Police say over 270 people, masquerading as protesters, went on a criminal rampage on Tuesday. Kenya's Interior Cabinet Secretary has vowed to end violence "at whatever cost".
