“I used to spend Ksh. 50 a day which left me with no money to even buy milk due to all the money I spent on charcoal. But with Jiko Malkia, I only spent KSh.50 in four days. It has helped me to save some money to buy milk and other groceries I need. It was given to us at fair prices and so I chose the Jiko Malkia”. - Faith Opiyo, Worker - Penta Flowers, Kenya.
This and many other impressive testimonials will be featured in this video on the Kenya Roses Project, which is being implemented under the Dignified Opportunities Nurtured through Trade and Sustainability (DONUTS) programme.
The Kenya Roses project began implementation in 2021 and seeks to improve the socio-economic well-being of Aldo Suisse supply chain flower farm workers and their households. It is expected that beneficiary producer organisations will adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change, with workers accelerating the adoption and utilisation of clean, sustainable energy solutions.
The Clean Energy component of the project aims to support targeted beneficiaries in purchasing clean and efficient energy items for use in their households.
🌍 DONUTS is a human rights-based four-year development cooperation program funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through Fairtrade Finland, with support from National Fairtrade Organizations and other Commercial Partners
