Since 2017, 22-year-old Malhar Kalambe has been cleaning up the massive amount of garbage that piles along the coastline of Mumbai. With the help of hundreds of volunteers from his organization "Beach Please," Malhar has removed more 3,800 tons of waste to date from Mumbai's waterways. This is our ideology. We don't kill animals not just cows. We live with all kinds of animals. Whether it's a city. India is the only place in the world where you can share homes with animals like tigers, elephants, and domestic animals. Except for from Australia of course. We have the most vegetarian population and Beef is the most harmful food to cause bad environmental effects. Our boomers are still throwing garbage and loving the white people from the west and their ideology. But our youth is open-minded. Loving every skin color and Desi people, Asian values first. He must be well versed and articulate of what he is doing right now because he has been campaigning for sometime now. He had to talk to volunteers and to thank them,give them a purpose, pump them up, etc. Probably, he also had to talk to the media, schools, etc. to spread his campaign and enjoin others to his mission.

This movement is exactly the same as our community has been doing now in a city called Ambon, Indonesia. Although we were only starting for a couple of months now, there’s already some changes on the beaches that we cleaned. We called ourselves the Mulung which literally means The scavenger. We have around 30 volunteers where we cleaned the beaches around the city every single week. We hope this kind of movement spread and increase the awareness of our environment. I didn’t expect so many likes. Hope you guys reduce single-used plastic and start doing small things to keep our environment healthy

Greta is being used as propaganda that's why she gets a huge media push with no effort (regardless of if you agree with her message or not that's what it is). using a child to spread an ideology or policy is a very manipulative --- they do it because it's extremely effective for persuasion. this guy isn't trying to manipulate people into paying more taxes he's a genuinely making positive change and leading by example to motivate others. he deserves so much respect.

There would be riots if that happened, India has no waste management policy, untreated sewage,plastic,and other organic waste is dumped directly into rivers. Once i went to one of the beaches in India a few locals were there with me all of a sudden a local dude came over pulled his shorts down and took a dump like 30 feet from us; the locals just looked away.

I remember watching almost the same story years back and I think it is also somewhere in India. It takes years for them to completely clean-up the beach and till one day, they're witnessing incredible moment where hundreds of turtles just hatched out from the sand at the beach. In the Indian context, but also in others, Marxism is militant left wing entitlement. This guy would be a member of the educated Bourgeoisie. Who is cleaning because 1) he has the time and 2) he has the education to know it's a good thing to do and 3) he may come from some privelege. Some marxists in India may point out that he is a comfortable member of the neoliberal middle class and that poor/ignorant people polluting these areas are forced into it because they have no other options. The idea that people could take responsibility, educate themselves and do the right thing (cleaning, not polluting) is viewed as discriminatory or prejudiced. Rather their argument is if we just redistributed wealth for free no work required, no one would be ignorant and no one would pollute. This how Marxists in the Indian context and possibly others think from what I've heard at least.

In Germany we have a "special system" . Everytime u buy a plastic bottle u pay 25cts more than the drink inside it actually costs. If u bring the bottle back to a store u get the 25cts back. Developing such a system in india too would be great too. People would be more concerned about the bottles. Since they paid for it and want to get the money back and Also poor people would have advantages from it. In the big cities here the homeless people mostly live from collecting bottles and bringing them back to stores.

I really agree. The segregation process the general public have to follow in germany must be implemented in India. Here in India, the segregation is just wet waste and dry waste. The dry waste is then again segregated by the municipality workers which in my opinion is not efficient. I have been looking into the German system of segregation and various other process and it sounds one of the better option than what India has taken.

@@ramayan712 this problem can be solved. You just have to ask a significant amount of money. Maybe around 30-50%. Say a 2lt bottle costs ₹20 the charge of ₹28 to ₹30 might be quite significant and maybe the middle class and even the upper middle class will think twice before disposing the bottle else where. In my opinion, this can be implemented only if significant number of the population in a place supports it since there will be a massive backlash against it. Most people here in India do not think public cleanliness is that important and I don't mean the poor or the uneducated.

Greta is doing an equal or, I would say, a greater good than even this guy. And it's in no way looking down but both are doing something good. Greta is directly taking on the policy-makers, meeting politicians, corporates, United Nation, scientists and letting people all around the world openly know about their motives. Fridays for Future is a movement connecting several millions around the world to look for action rather than words, and that's why they are asking the ones who are releasing tonnes of carbon into the atmosphere to reduce it. Cleaning a beach is a task, but tackling the government & industrialists head-on is not a kid's play. You better learn something before you make a joke about it!

Try criticizing a President or PM or a big corporate in their territory, if you ever could gather such guts, you would know what it takes to challenge the entire system! You would be thrashed and dumped into that same 'beach' near Mithi river! Greta brought a worldwide revolution by directly affecting the youth on a social and scientifically aware vision. This guy is simply doing a volunteer work, he isn't challenging or educating anyone. That needs much more than an individual to bring change, it needs the media and policy-makers to support a cause and spread it so that everyone gets to know where the issue lies. The carbon emissions industrialists or private-jet flyers emitting is multiple times this garbage beach, it's just one or two beaches of a few kms, Greta is talking about the global climate change and its risks to the whole mankind. In contrast, it's a lot bigger than this trivial stuff.

This guy puts his money where his mouth is. Instead of virtue signalling and complaining about the current state of problems, he steps outside and takes action. Frankly, this dude is much more deserving of being named Time magazine's person of the year than Greta Thunberg.
