Kenyan President William Ruto has announced the withdrawal of the finance bill that sparked nationwide protests. The demonstrations turned deadly when security forces fired teargas and live ammunition at protesters. #CNN #News
Kenyan sons and daughters make the whole of Africa proud with their unity and solidarity in that they can't look on as a couple of people make laws to benefit and satisfy themselves and leave the country's future in turmoil. We love you our Kenyan brothers and sisters. You're a true symbol and definition of Africa❤️ ❤️
One day..." you are criminals "...less than 24 hours later..." the people have spoken"...nothing honest about this guy. I have taken this move with a huge pinch of salt. 😅😅😅
@@SAMUELBELA Nope. He's the most arrogant guy the country has had so far! We are in a different age, with a better constitution and a fearless generation! Credit to the Kenyan people! NOT to his listening skills! For once he felt the fear and had to bow! Viva Kenya🇰🇪✊🏾
1. He lied when he said that 6 young ones died. Its more than a hundred young ones. 2. He lied when said that gas went from 200ksh to 178. When he came in it was at 163ksh per ltr. 3. Parliament is at recess. TILL 22nd of July. If the bill stays as it is, (even if he doesn't sign it) for 21 days, it automatically becomes law. 4. He called young kids, who died fighting for their land, thieves. Naaaah. He is still trying to play us.
Read For Yourselves The Simple & Clear Wording Of Article 115. If he fails to sign the bill, it becomes a law after 21 days 2. Meantime, National Assembly Went On Recess This Morning, Till 23rd June…
@@jantejuma7979 until next year so that when the bill passes after 21 days. There won't be anyone directly to accuse or confront. That's planning evil in advance on their behalf
I as a Kenyan we are giving warning to those western nations like USA the owners of IMF and worldbank leave Kenya and Africa alone, you cannot impose you will on us. Wether we owe you or not will not be heavyly taxed to fund the western world free education, free medication and technologies. Africans are raising and we shall be relentless. Viva Kenya! Viva Africa.
These people have stolen from us since the colonial period, they should be lending to us but instead give us for free, they have taken from Africa many resources for free
Hold up we are on your side...we been paying property taxes...dont blame America for your debt problems. You need to delete this comment because even though it has nothing to do with us regular American Citizens we were praying and sharing information on Social Media...we pay taxes on everything the more we make the more they take, this was the person you all elected solution to pay off loans borrowed everybody has to pay back loans, now after he has withdrawn the bill you are blaming America...okay you ungrateful person shame on you after so many Americans prayed for you all..now you want to bash and blame us😢😢😢
Would you be kind enough to detail were exactly the lack of trust stems from? It could help with navigating some solutions. More positive statements would be appreciated rather than normative ones.
The people shared the contacts of these mps online to ask them to vote no. One of the mp who voted yes admitted he had about 300k texts& calls & still defied the voice of his people. The president came out & said whether we like it or not the bill must pass& here we are 250 deaths later he has withdrawn the bill.@@BajiKorvisamo
@@BajiKorvisamoWe dont fully trust him because according to the constitution of Kenya, if the president rejects the bill, the bill then returned to the parliament and he is given 21 days to sign it, if he doesnt the bill becomes a law plus the constitution does not explicity allow the president to withdraw the finance bill once introduced in the parliament , the withdraw of a bill is typically within the purview of the member or entity that introduced it in this case the cabinet secretery for finance or the treasury. In short he clearly knows wat he's doing.
The power of the people will defeat the mighty army *tomorrow*. 1. RUTO必须走! (RUTO bìxū zǒu!) 2. ¡RUTO debe irse! 3. RUTO must go! 4. RUTO को जाना होगा! (RUTO ko jānā hogā!) 5. يجب على RUTO أن يرحل! (yajibu ʿalā RUTO 'an yarḥal!) *RUTO lazima aondoke!*
Ruto wasn't thinking about the public when he took an IMF loan, but suddenly demands they pay for his decisions. He should turn to his rich friends or the multinationals and raise their taxes to deal with the short fall.
Ruto represents the public. His actions are by constitution "the public" regardless of intension. This is why the public is responsible for their decisions and actions. Its the way countries operate
The President of Kenya does not have the constitutional authority to unilaterally withdraw a bill that has been passed by Parliament. The Constitution of Kenya outlines specific procedures for what the President can do when presented with a bill, but withdrawing it altogether is not one of them. Here are the relevant procedures: 1. **Assent or Referral**: Within 14 days of receiving a bill, the President must either: - Assent to the bill, making it law, or - Refer the bill back to Parliament with specific reservations for reconsideration. 2. **Parliament's Response**: - If referred back, Parliament can amend the bill based on the President's reservations and return it for assent. - If Parliament passes the bill again, with or without amendments, by a two-thirds majority in both houses, the President must assent to the bill within seven days. 3. **Automatic Enactment**: If the President does not assent to the bill or refer it back within 14 days, or if Parliament passes the bill
we are not stupid ,,the constitution does not grant you any powers to withdraw an act of parliament,,only your Mpigs in parliament can...you should have adressed you Mpigs to do away with it completely ,not this PR of lies again.
He was setup by IMF and G7. African leaders , please stay away from those people. They know too much, they can penetrate and destabilize your entire system in a second. Mao Tsetung of China isolated China, fortified his people and the country, then he opened China.
It is a lifeless Act of parliament until the President accents [signs] it into becoming a law. He has refused to accent it into law hence has returned it to Parliament for the MPs to withdraw it completely.
Maybe you all should pay taxes. Too many people don’t have free education in Kenya. They’re depending on marriage to white people. I just saw a documentary on RU-vid about Bomanono lodge.
@@nonino1644 Evading taxes is a crime in Kenya, I don't know who "you all" is but legally they're required to pay. Also no one is refusing to pay taxes, people are demanding accountability from their leaders. Women from poor countries marrying wealthier foreigners isn't unique to Kenya and has got nothing to do with taxes lol! Alot of men from western countries go for impoverished women in third world countries, South America is a hotspot for such, are they also not paying taxes?
🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪 We were on the streets 💪 Ruto is finished!!! George Saitoti was right... "There will come a time when the needs of an individual can not be greater than that of people of the county " ~RIP Saitoti Viva Kenya!!!
*Mama I made it!* I occupied Parliament Remember the #occupyParliament demonstrations? But tell papa I’m sorry I won’t come home tonight Not because I’m spending at a friends’. No! Not because I’m among the injured. No! Nor because I was abducted as they have to most of us. That would have been better I’m in cold dark place called the morgue Mama I know Papa will be angry why I wore his shoes I had to, I know they are bigger but I had to Otherwise no one could have. I know he will complain that I have read too much political novels Please don’t let him blame Animal Farm, Don’t let him blame Kidagaa Kimemwozea, Don’t let him blame Tumbo Lisiloshiba, Don’t let him blame Kifo Kisimani, Don’t let him blame Mstahiki Meya, Or Parliament of Owls They can’t be blamed. I did it for Our country. They hailed us for being fearless Mama! They called it an historic moment ; actually unprecedented. Did you watch the news? All over the country thousands of us matched forward, wearing mostly black, chanting slogans and singing revolutionary songs. They call us GenZ Mama. Some Mpigs say we have watched too much Netflix and we eat KFC. Sorry for the spelling Mama, I meant MPs. Did you see how we sang ‘Kudade’ with Mc Gogo? Did you see how Juliani turned up and we sang ‘Utawala’? That song you call ‘Nikoo njaa siwezi karanga’? Did you hear us sing ‘Tujiangalie’by Sauti Sol? Have you seen King Kaka’s ‘ Wanataka Kutumaliza’? Did you see how Mulamwah gave us Tea and Mandazi? Have you seen all the comedians, Content creators and influencers? I told you it will be Big Mama! We matched forward Mama Slowly and peacefully Like you told me We said we were peaceful They rattled us with teargas and water canons Mama We coughed, cried and chocked to the smoke but still matched on We matched amidst the sting of that pink water they sprayed on us with those beastly vehicles But nothing was more painful than hearing them pass that draconian punitive Bill Mama. Remember how you used to forcefully give us porridge by locking us between your legs, pinching our noses then pouring a tone of porridge in our forcibly opened mouth?Leaving us with two choices; swallowing or choking to death? That’s what they did to us today Mama But unlike in the past, today’s child chose the latter; death! We approached the parliament as promised. We eventually occupied Parliament Mama Albeit briefly. The wall gave in and we entered. I’m sorry I did not taste the rice As some did Mama All I tasted was the bullets Mama They sprayed me with bullets Mama, That’s why i won’t come home. My battle is over Mama But not the revolutionary war.
These are mind games, because if he doesn't sign and 21 days pass, it passes as Law, so he's lying as usual because the parliament is under recess till 22 nd july, so to which parliament is he sending the bill?
As a student of POLITICAL SCIENCE, once a government is pressured to back down on a national issue, the opposition takes this as weakness and raise their demand to include total regime change (Ruto must fall)
Proud of you Kenyans, Africa doesn't need to pay a penny to the IMF as we owe them a lot from their invasion of Africa in the past century, you have given a good lesson to Ruto who is starting to bow to the West
After killing our brothers calling us criminals...we want him to resign...if he doesn't resign we will March to state house..90% of country can't be criminals.
We know his tricks, he want that bill to pass tactically by giving mps 14 days vacation, after 14 day before taken back to parliament it will be alaw direct
African leaders need to understand that times have changed. Applying dictatorial style of leadership will not work anymore with this generation. They either shape in or ship out.
You see he is listening to democracies this is good, i like ruto, but he is stern too. Ungrateful Kenyans beware because there is a give and take. Learn from hong kong on how to peacefully protest

This man takes Kenya out of debt, offers a bill that will raise over 1 billion dollars for development projects to help the people. yet they have no patience and wonder why Africa will take forever to develop. Ruto seems like a smart guy but the people has no patience.
Money loaned to a country with misdeveloped communities transforms them into modern cities with glass buildings and elevated highways. Paying back such a loan is folly. Let the oil pay back the loan.
Don't hate the game, get better at playing it. Russia wishes they could play, there is alot of opportunity. The loan is not the issue. How it was spent is. More profitable investments means you are profiting off others money. You need to think less generally
An ICC alumni called unarmed protesters criminals and then went on to massacre people in Githurai as they slept. Several abducted people are still missing. This is no longer about the finance bill. Tomorrow we are protesting demanding his resignation. Ruto must go!!
