The contribution of the people of Kerala to our country is great. Total remittances from migration also reached a record ₹2,16,893 crore in 2023 from ₹85,092 crore in 2018, marking a 154.9% increase, strengthening the economy of the State. Kerala also holds a steady 21% share of India's NRI deposits.
But we get very less in return from north indian controlled central government.modi goverment literally implementing an economic sanction against kerala
Remittance from Western countries is unsustainable. It would decline and may be even stop after the migrants get PR or citizenship rights in the Western countries. Unlike the past Gulf migrants, the current migrants are moving to Western nations where citizenship is possible after putting in a certain number of years in those countries.
Keralites have always gone out for work as there is no industry there, what has changed in student migration. The biggest pull factor is permanent residence and work permits in western countries. When this stops, student immigration will come down. Another factor is excessive fees and capitation for professionals, which when it becomes much higher than foreign countries , then justifies the experience to go overseas

What do you offer to bring them back ?😢. India is 200 years back in thought processing , accountability and developing peoples skill. The biggest challenge is corruption and injustice system to its citizens. Anybody can harm anyone. Whether it is south or north, Government is promoting their ideology rather than working for the people. You come to west, eg.nurses are highly respected and well paid. Every one can work and earn and lead a decent life. If you are disable and IDD ,state will take care of them and make sure they get proper treatment whether it is hospice or nursing etc. Students get the best quality education. Thank you for the media to bring this up. 😊
Very well said. Thanks for video. 90 percent of my extended family are in US. Migrated in the 70s and 80s. Now their descendants are prosperous, marrying US citizens of European ancestry too...❤.Pioneer was an aunt who was a nurse and migrated to US in early 70s...A decade later her siblings and later families followed.
We have been living in UK since 1960s. Nothing great about marrying non Indians. You lose everything religion culture language etc. East or West Indian culture is best. ❤
Yes an ocean of opportunities…for every 1 million India has one job position..I wonder y people are unhappy & want to flee when they have this “ocean of opportunities” right in front of them 😂
I am not only from Kerala but I was working in an academy which helps students study in a foreign countries, children now prefer to live in European countries, if they stay there for 5 years continuously they will get PR. lifestyle, money facilities, weather etc. attract children and some parents say that the political situation in India will be not favourable in future, is also one of the reasons. Not only, foreign immigration started in Kerala even before independence, then it was in Gulf countries and countries like US UK only, now youths like to go to any European countries, because we have a very famous traveler, he has a great influence among us, he is a fan of all youths, watch that channel, the children became fond of traveling. According to the Kerala government, there are Malayalis in 182 countries, we Malayalis are the most dispersed community. So in short lack of work is not the only real reason, the thought that traveling is to enjoy life is also a reason. Children's education is free in European countries, that is why nurses take their families there.
Finally somebody's telling the facts from ground reality. I've seen many people simply acting like owls and telling some random things as true reasons but the actual fact's this. It's nothing to do with any government or religion
not completely true, "non-favorable political situations" you're just trying to politicize it, if that's the case then why are a lot of students and adults moving to places like Bangalore,Chennai,Hyderabad etc. I just finished 12th and a many of my friends had gone to cities outside Kerala for studies and people who can afford to go abroad are also trying that, one of the main reasons are the low quality of the education system especially making the degree 4 years and the whole college/SFI shenanigans who wants to study in such places like that where your peers are clear imbeciles. It's not that the education system outside Kerala is perfect at least there're more opportunities
@@Cal_440 I have said from the experience of working in that field, till today people have not mentioned education quality or sfi politics as to why children leave. Religious Connflict is the only one who has said politics as a reason. What is a fault in education in Kerala? Misleading thumbnail lmao. It's the picture of north Indians coming to kerala for labour works. Is it cause u guys lack thumbnails of keralite people ?
It's not about Kerala alone. Kerala is taking a hit due to the mess in India at large. #KERALA as a state was much ahead of any other in all aspects except employment... when. Menial pay scales and poor standards of living in other states are also major factors. With standards of lifestyle and healthcare in all aspects, Kerala is much ahead of all the states. I am a taxpayer from Kerala living in another state where I face racism, class systems, and discrimination. I get zero benefit from my contribution. India is messed up.
I believe it is the other way round. Kerala is surviving because it has the support system from other states of India - be it employment, food supply, labour supply from other states despite Keralites being lazy to do any work in their home state. The high standards of living in Kerala you talk about is mainly due to the remittance economy as Kerala is largely dependent resources from other states of India and abroad, including products and services. All the talk about Kerala is much ahead of other states is a hogwash and many Keralites, despite living outside Kerala, brag about. Why then are Keralites settling in every corner of the world other than Kerala ? If Kerala has the best healthcare system in the country, why many keralites seek medical treatment in TN, Karnataka, Mumbai etc? I do not see anyone from Kerala being discriminated in other states unless you show some sort of superiority complex in other states claiming to be from a so called developed state of India or you refuse to accept their religious practices, or indulge in illegal activities. Every citizen of India is paying taxes in our day to day lives, and if one earns income within the country above taxable limit every citizen is liable to pay tax. You are not a special category to get exemption from taxes. As a citizen you get all protection like any other citizen. If India is such a messy place, you are free to choose another country to live.
Do you know, due to lack of industrial infrastructure, best of educational institutions, Kerala migration started to middle Eastern countries. Keralites flock to nearby mangalore for higher education & for nursing courses. Entire Kerala state budget is equal to Bombay Municipality budget. 😊
