Yeah I hate the overuse of this term. It's a review bomb if a bunch of people who never played or bought the game review it just to gripe about something. If they purchased the game they have every right to review the game however they want.
@Moleculor
@Moleculor Месяц назад
@@anonony9081 Not just that, but even in the most charitable of interpretations, a review bomb could be current owners trying to force a reaction. Take the recent TF2 situation, where people who love the game campaigned for a bunch of negative reviews to be made to try and force Valve to take action about bots. Arguably, that's a review bomb, because it's people not giving their honest opinion about the state of the game. Other than, y'know, the bots fundamentally being a part of the state of the game... but not one Valve are responsible for. KSP2? No, the reviews there are all just about the state of the game. It's broken, it performs poorly, the developer has gone missing, and the publisher has gone quiet. There's no one left for a review bomb to "convince", there was no mass campaign to try and force a reaction. It was just people reviewing the game and giving their opinions about it. Which is exactly what a review is.

I think I'll call this effect "Mandatory Sequel Syndrome". A special kind of development hell where a game that does well gets a TON of funding for a sequel, and then someone in a position of authority gets paranoid that it's not good enough to justify the funding. They're throwing out work and starting over, they're making constant late-stage changes, and ultimately nothing ever makes it out the door. Duke Nukem Forever or Half Life 3 for example. @@ShadowZoneI was already skeptical when the project was announced, given the aggressiveness of the promised feature set and timeline. The coverage you've given of what's become public of the details of the project's development history has me convinced that it was already doomed at the time of announcement. Was it ever viable at some time pre-announcement? I don't think the bean counters were ever prepared to invest enough money to do more than refresh the original code, and I don't think Star Theory / Private Division were ever prepared to limit themselves to a feature set that was realistic on the budget available, nor do I think that a rehash of KSP 1 would have gotten more than lukewarm reception from the community. The devs basically gambled that they could tell T2 that they could implement Nate's vision within the schedule and budget constraints in place, and then keep saying "it's almost done, just a bit of an overrun" until the project was late and overbudget enough to accommodate their desired feature set. In theory, someone early on could have convinced T2 that investing the money properly from the start to implement Nate's vision was the best way to make a profit off the IP, which I believe was the case, but the potential for that to happen was all the potential the project ever had. The community has been clamouring for a feature set matching Nate's vision from before T2 ever acquired the IP, but just a vision for a feature set that's in demand in three community isn't "potential", you have to have the resources to implement it, and that was never there. That said, from before the project was even started, T2 had *one job*, from the community perspective. Implementing the game the community wants will require designing for a certain things from the start that weren't considered in the design of the original KSP, and whatever the strategy pursued in terms of what features are implemented first, the resources required to match KSP1 in the end game while implementing all the new features will be significant. The one good thing that could *possibly* have come from a AAA studio acquiring the IP was having the resources of a AAA studio behind the project the community wanted. So T2's one job was to take that community demand and invest the money to make it happen. They were never willing to do that.

I have a thought for the EU KSP fans out there: I know EU courts tend to be a little more consumer leaning in comparison to the US in lawsuits against game companies, is there a possibility of filing an EU class-action lawsuit against Take-Two to essentially either force refunds, release the files or SOMETHING. Take-Two needs to be held accountable for selling us all this game, promising features and then shutting down the studio before we ever got those features. The christian god also has a name, which is something I've seen a lot of christians forget. And then they end up using 'god' to refer to the christian god, even in contexts where that isn't obvious. Which has probably sparked quite a few unnecessary debates. Are you tired of how many times I've used the word 'god' so far?

Especially now in an era where in real life, space exploration is booming again with SpaceX, Rocket Lab, NASA, and everyone else pushing the limits of space science. KSP2 had incredible potential to teach today’s youth about space science in a fun way. It’s unbelievably horrible what Take Two did to this franchise. It’s absolutely horrible and it breaks my heart.

Everything in Juno is also modular and can be dragged to every shape you can imagine. And I mean every part, even the fuel tanks. It does require a little bit of effort to learn, as there's details that KSP did not have. Like the fuel types and grain, engine-bells affect performance based on design and other things. Also, the planets are quite a bit larger than KSP, so you actually need more delta-v to reach a stable orbit. I'd watch you play some of that :)

While I agree that it was promised by marketing to contain colonies, interstellar, multiplayer etc., just to play devil's advocate, I have to mention that there is a big notice from Steam on every Early Access title that states: "This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development." and if you click on the more info: "Its up to the developer to determine when they are ready to 'release'. Some developers have a concrete deadline in mind, while others will get a better sense as the development of the game progresses. You should be aware that some teams will be unable to 'finish' their game. So you should only buy an Early Access game if you are excited about playing it in its current state." This is not meant as some sort of excuse for Take Two\Private Division, just a general reminder that you should buy EA games with it in mind that the current version may be the final one and if you are not yet happy with the state of a game, you should wait. Now to the question, what I would like to see in the future of KSP2? I already went through the states of grief and made my peace with KSP2 being dead. I would nevertheless like some honesty from T2. Man, so many games have been complete disappointments lately. I've been a huge gamer my whole life; if this is the future of gaming, that might change.

Buck up. Things are not nearly so bad. While there are lots of greed-driven disappointments there are still more quality games coming out every year than at any point in history.

Lately? This has been going on for a long long time. With almost finished games never being released to playable demos never going anywhere in old games as well. Nothing new here.

@meegstomtom
@meegstomtom Месяц назад
@@jm56585 that's a lame statement as well. The Major of indie games can also suck. Steam is full of crappy indie games. You just need an open mind and don't expect any game to be great. But I agree when it comes to a true passion project game. They often have a lot to offer and where made with care.

While there’s a snowballs chance in hell of it ever happening, one of the conditions of EA should be that if the project fails, you make your code and assets public, at least those that are project specific.

8:10 Sorry to say this, but the problem with Early Access is that you pay for, well, early access to an unfinished product in excatly the state it is in when you do the purchase. You do not pay for anything that is planned further down the line, they (most of the time) only promise that you also get access to the finished product (if and when it gets finished) at no additional cost. But you do not pay for any planned but yet unreleased features - sure, you can expect them to be added but if development takes another route and those features get dropped, then it is what it is. And this is why I never buy an early access game until it is clear that the game I want to buy is actually going to happen, no matter how good I wish it to be.

Do not buy unfinished games. Every time you do you are encouraging companies to do this. Wastes our time, wastes your time and your money.

For possible videos in the future, I'm curious what you'd end up making in Juno. As far as my plans for the uncompleted KSP2, I will probably try to get something resembling my money's worth by eventually finishing out the tech tree and seeing what I can do with the full range of available parts while hoping modders will be able to add more to the game, even if it's never all that was originally promised.

Multiplayer was the first red flag. Colonization was another. the idea of a KSP 'remastered and refinished' with reworks from the ground up building towards a similar conclusion as KSP 1 but with greater optimization and greater use of company resources (IE: parts that are designed to be procedural from the get go; ideally with different 'parts' being procedural with different aesthetics and optimized for different sweet-spots as far as size/etc.) would've been great,

Gonna throw the new game 'Archean' into the mix, it's goal is an accurate physics simulation of the solar system, complete with orbital mechanics etc. Worth checking out, at least.

I'd like it if either some of the old devs came back or, with how technically minded this community is, we got a community funded and developed open source project with Berbils and they are blue and very totally legally distinct.

KSP 2 lived and died before we got GTA 6. I actually was supportive of the project until the very end, and when I say the very end, I mean until the day the studio closed. I was so hyped for everything that was planned, actually, my pc is bad, like really bad, it's hard for it to run steam and google at the same time, but still I bought the game day one because I believed in the developers vision. I said it then and kept on saying it until the very end: I bought an idea, I bought a promise. It was okay for me to not play it day one because I believed in the fact that the support I gave would enable me to play it for real one day. I knew early access was not for every player but I said to myself that I had the patience to try every time even if the game never launched until the update where it would launch (launch the save files). When I look back at everything that happened, I still can't get mad at the developpers, and I don't want to because I believe they really had the best intentions in the world and worked as hard as they could to deliver a finished product that they were proud of to the fans and the new players. If one of the developpers of KSP 2 ever reads this (which is highly unlikely) first I would like to say that I will never be mad at YOU for delivering the product we got, it isn't your fault unlike some people say. I would also like to say that I really am sad that all the work you've done will probably never be appreciated by anyone else. Finaly, I'm sorry for my english.

If you wanna do space-related content, but now ksp-related, I would still watch you! Maybe you should try games like "Space Engineers" or "Satisfactory", but if they are not the games you want to play - do some content about european space flight of space in general, it would also be nice

4:55 Listen. I love paradox's own games. But I hate when they buy IPs. Because usually they are indie games I love, and they just get turned into DLC machines. I would hate to see KSP with 20 DLCs. half of which containing basic and QoL things

We need to restart the KSP excitement. I remember the hype train leaving the station, when several of the major KSP RU-vidrs did the space station collaboration video series - would be very cool to see something similar using an actual “celebrity” KSP server with simultaneous play -, maybe that was an initiative you could explore shadowzone?

What's next? It's a proven concept. Another studio is now going to look at it as free real estate. They are going to take the concept and do it better and we will all fondly remember the old days of Kerbaling. Sorta like Cities Skylines overtook Sim City. Jeb will always have a place in my heart, but I'll just keep my eye out for 'Space Rocket Boomerang' or whatever it ends up being called. I never spent money on KSP2, so I'm going to pretend it never happened, just like Disney Star Wars.

Take-Two's entire problem is that, throughout their entire involvement with the I.P., they've been exceedingly greedy...and sleazy, as they usually are. The kiss of death for the I.P. was when Squad sold it to Take-Two. They were literally THE WORST publisher to sell to. I can understand why it was done...Squad had no ambitions to become a game development house... KSP was an accidental success. If upper management at Squad had ANY sense at all, they would have recognized what they had on their hands, and the opportunity that it represented....they would have then set up a separate office for KSP development, put Felipe in charge of it, and let him hire people to keep developing KSP, and it's sequel. instead, they didn't appreciate what they had, and sold it off to whoever was willing to give them the most money, because they didn't care about it. I've been boycotting Take-Two for quite a long time now....when i learned that they'd bought KSP, i got kinda sad, because i was looking forward to KSP2, but i'll never give Take-Two another dollar....glad to see i made the right choice. Take-Two destroys lives, and ruins everything it touches. KSP is just the latest victim.

And this is why I never bought into ksp2, I am an early access “lifetime dlc and updates for free ksp1” buyer and the announcement of ksp2 as well as the fact it was initially being developed in much the exact same way ksp1 already was, it felt like it was a cash grab to try and milk more money from the early access ksp1 players like myself.
