May 16, 2002 airdate. Interesting that they use the value of the Secret Square prize to help determine the champion, I suspect it was only done for the TofC.
oh, you mean just for the episode. (did the $3500 (the value of the secret square) count towards the total in the standings? or did only CASH winnings count in determining the top 2 players?) (considering the fact that the top 2 players up to this point had NOT won a whole lot, i'm guessing that only cash winnings counted.)
oops. Tom mentions that the value DOES count towards your total for the tournament.) (and also, I did NOT see the ABOVE comment. I apologize for that as well.)
@@chris.twentyeightt since that was the case and only 8 of the 9 amounts were in play, I have to assume that the minimum was raised to $1500 for this week ONLY? because we all know that would have made it unfair, (and that they probably did have to be given an envelope and a dollar amount anyway, (This is a guess, but he STILL would have been allowed to pick them correct? (because we all know they could have had the two of them reveal the amount before the last break, BUT we also know, that because there was a mercedes on the line on the NEXT SHOW (in addition to WELL OVER $100,000 CASH on the line in the bonus round ALONE, (there is 1 episode from this season where (I think 13 questions) were asked in the 60 seconds, the contestant had picked comedienne kathy griffin as his partner, and SHE had the $5k! (and also, i am sure the producers had been dreading this scenario, he actually got TEN right. meaning he had $50k in his pocket already, BUT obviously, he could gamble it on a double or nothing question, the category, seinfeld. and based on his reaction to hearing the category he seemed to be a big seinfeld fan, because he LOOKED like he was tempted to go for it, but it is ONE HELL of a good thing he didn't, they did ask him just to see what would have happened had he done so, he would have lost the $50,000.
