Ive only seen her in the Piano Teacher, and was hypnotized by her performance. The scene in which the camera focuses on just her face as she stares at her student Walter is amazingly minimal, internalised desire that somehow she conveys through her poker face.
Always liked this man’s turn of phrase. She is good. Thanks for letting me know you don’t pronounce the h. Won’t make that mistake again. I love the themes of her film roles. Very very emotive, and with the good script writers a very great learning experience.
Isabelle is an extraordinary actor/human being from an extraordinary family of talented siblings. A film director sister, novelist sister, professor sister, and a writer brother. Not to mention her daughter actress Lola Chammah. Born into wealth she chose to dedicate her life from childhood to be an actress of the highest caliber and is almost spooky in her ability to bore down into the inner life of all kinds of characters from the sympathetic to the deranged and all the middle ground between them. I've seen almost 60 of her films and there was only one turkey among them and that was an 80's American film she did. That's an outstanding percentage of thumbs up for film watching!
@whatsthehurrymurray - yeah, I was wondering if that was done ironically. This week they mentioned taking glasses off for dramatic effect, in relation to stroking of moustaches.
