Enter Kern's World - a captivating exploration of identity and evolution inspired by Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. This work delves into the mind of Avrana Kern, who finds herself an unwitting deity to an emerging arachnid society. From the confines of her sentry pod, we witness her transformation from human to a form beyond, culminating in a profound acceptance of her new existence. The spiders, under the subtle influence of a nanovirus, ascend from predators to a spacefaring civilization, showcasing the power of shared knowledge and collective advancement. This journey is vividly brought to life through the artistry of generative AI, with imagery from #StableDiffusion, #Midjourney, OpenAI's #DallE3, and the dynamic #RunwayML's 'Gen 2' video model. Join Kern on her journey in this mesmerizing blend of storytelling and technological innovation, where the boundaries of consciousness are expanded, and the future is reimagined.
And if you like this, I would seriously recommend reading Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. There's no way I could possibly do his work justice, so you should probably just read that (as well as the sequels, obviously)

The way her voice splits apart and doubles, one with a machine-like sound, really highlights the points about the shifting identity

Brilliant. Just incredible. Bravo. I hope at least the animated version of the books gets made. I doubt we can make a convincing-looking movie.

I just finished Children of Time. What a fantastic read! I thought, let me search this on RU-vid and see what I can find on this book. I was expecting discussions and, while I found those, I came across this short film. Very well done! I think this captures the vision of the book very well. I have my fingers crossed that we get a movie or TV series based on this book. I got Children of Ruin on my bookshelf and intend to read that shortly. Again, nice work on this!

I came across this video as I was about halfway through reading the book. I put off watching it until I finished reading. Well I just finished it about 20 minutes before typing this. I started reading it in January. You could say I'm a slow reader lol. Either way, I didn't waste much time before coming here to watch. It was a cool story and your take on Kern is great. I'd love to see a take on the other characters. Guyen would be a wild one based on his ending and the responsibility that was bestowed upon him from the beginning. Even Holsten. Drifting through time, woken up, dragged away, used, only to be put back to sleep to be woken again at a later date. I guess I'm going to have to read the sequels now.

Nice job, however she didn’t know about them from the start of their evolution, but once she did, she ultimately embraced it.

Neat short. I'd almost rather someone adapt this into an animated TV series. HBO had a great Scavengers Reign series. My only hesitation is it wouldn't get enough viewers to get picked up for another season. But I think it would have a better chance than a movie. Either way it would be a HARD adaptation. But at some point I think Adrian Tchaikovsky will be the Philip K Dick of content for adaptations.

"To Portia." -Adrian Tchaikovsky
@Carcinizator

Although I WOULD like a movie or a series of this incredible work of fiction, i feel like doing it with AI would be a disgrace to the inherent humanity that this book is all about! From the portias; instinctual but always contemplating, to the ai just wanting to protect her "monkeys" but still apprehensive to kill the humans, to the humans desperate to save their species but still not willing to give op their individual lives for the greater good. Even in a world this bleak, with to species on the verge of extinction, glimses of hope, kinship between lifeforms shines through. I know there is no real vilains in this book but the main characters always have to stand against some kind of malignant force that doesn't care about them nor does it know that its causing grief, like the unthinking, unindividualistic ants that don't even know that their taking over the world, selfish comander guyen leaving half of humanity on a Barren rock in the middle of bumpfucknowhere while him and his crew take a cruise to paradise, and kern of course, which brings me to my point that A.I. art is a soulless meaningless artform, which would be the exact sort of thing that the book would ridicule, this makes the existence of this video (and other C.O.T. videos that have used A.I.) kind of ironic in my opinion and it honestly makes me sad to see :(
@mynameisChesto
@mynameisChesto 11 дней назад
I appreciate your comment, but you realize that this has been said about every new medium of art that has ever existed, right? "...which brings me to my point that [video art, photography, digital art, 3d, etc.] is a soulless meaningless artform, which would be the exact sort of thing that the book would ridicule". The exact same point applies in music - people ridiculed the use of drum machines, sampling, synths and virtually every other new form of technology that allowed people to express their ideas. So I'd ask you this: what exactly defines what is and isn't art?
@Carcinizator
@Carcinizator 11 дней назад
@@mynameisChesto I'm not gonna sit here and argue the logistics of whether art made by a color assortment program should be considered actual art-art or not, because art is a abstract term just meaning something like “the product of a skilled creative” which is rather arbitrary, I am however arguing that A.I art is lazy art and I don't think you can deny that “do you realize that this exact thing has been said about photography, digital art, 3D art” yes I do realize but I don't think that excuses A.I. art. Disney fired most of their animators in 2013 because of the advent of 3D animation and digital art, painters in the 1800 had to adapt or find a new job in order to survive because of photograph technology, digital artists lose commissions and sometimes their jobs to generative A.I. when these sorts of things happen, it takes away human input, human agency making art much more impersonal and harming people's livelihoods in the process. How can I honestly enjoy this short film knowing that this wasn't a human trying to convey thoughts and ideas through the art medium but a robot's fabrication faking the images on screen, avrana's voice, hell maybe even the transcript that avrana follows, in order to trick me into feeling something. Chesto, i know you've made up your mind that this is the future and I don't count on changing your worldview with this comment but know that I will always die on the hill that A.I should not have a place in modern entertainment
@mynameisChesto

@@Carcinizator So here's a challenge to you - if you think it's lazy and not human made, if you think this is purely the output of a dumb AI, I'd encourage you to try making something like this yourself, post it to RU-vid/Reddit/ anywhere else you'd like, and see what the reception is like. There's a lot of garbage AI generated content out there, but in my humble opinion, this is not that. Stay blessed. PS -if you want to continue the conversation, message me on instagram as I'm way more active on that platform.

I appreciate the monologue and the attention to events in the books, however AI art steals real artists work, and for that I will not support this video with a 👍🏻 but I will tip my hat under the table

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to." - Jim Jarmusch
