this sounds more like Gary Holt than Kerry King. Easy way to tell the difference, Kerry's solos sound like he's trying to murder his guitar, Gary's sound like his guitar will murder you. Both awesome in their own right

During the first half of the video I was seeing more Kirk Hammett style licks. Kerry king solos always consist of downpours mixed with lots of picking at some point in the solo. I can’t really think of any Slayer song or any song Kerry is featured in where he doesn’t downpour off the top of my head.

Andy is great and clean and all that, I'm not a big fan of Kerry himself but the style of solos they use in Slayer is exactly what makes it so great. Doesn't have to be in tune, melodic or even that musical. Its over the top. They sounded very original when they came out. There are millions of players who can play perfect melodic scales but no one sounded like these guys... my opinion...

If you're a decent guitar player and listen carefully to Kk's solo's, they do make sense. He knows what he's doing, just listen to his slower work on Seasons in the Abyss. For the people that don't like his work: there actually are bands that are not Slayer, maybe you should check them out...

Lars Breedveld I agree with you completely. KK is an awesome guitarist. I’ve seen them live, and the stamina him and the entire band have is amazing. Not many 50+ year old folks do what he can do. Oh yeah, also for the haters, they’ve been around since the mid 80’s. I’d say he’s doing something right.

I was addicted to slayer for yrs, but never enjoyed their solos. Their riffs are legendary though. Kerry king and Jeff hanneman have very unique almost impossible to duplicate solos, but most are ear splitting ugly sounding. Gary holt has brought alot of soloing prowess to the band now though

It's the first time I listen to the song you suggested. And I really surprised to see that Mercyful Fate vibes on that song are so strong. Not to mention how beautifully crafted the Mercyful Fate solos are. I guess I underestimated Kerry King's guitar playing a bit. Still fun to watch him, but now I'm respecting him more. :D

This is andy trying to tone down his playing and abilities to KK's abilities . This was the same thing that he did to emulate kirk hammett. AJ just can't hide the fact that he's a number of magnitudes better than either KK or KH. It was funny to watch

How to play like Kerry King. step 1) blind fold yourself step 2) shove wammy bar as far as you can up your ass step 3) pick as fast as you can. (it doesn't matter what notes you play because they're so fast no one can hear them anyways.)

hey dude, you say where is the chaos. I am a drummer, not a guitar player by far lol and an avid slayer fan, but I do know that playing lead guitar people play from the heart for the most part. To be able to mimic any of the people on lead is straight talent. Andy James, you sir are amazing, from one musician to another, I would love to play the drums for a guitarist with your style and skill.

Sean Thomson it does sound like hammett. ( the pre black album hammett that is ) He didnt abuse wah before the black album. check out ride the lightning , AJFA and master of puppets.

Wow that was amazingly AMAZING! I couldnt look away! Really good, and sorta similar to Kerry. I know people wanna clown on Kerry about what makes his style unique, but its precisely what this video was missing and what makes him so hard to emulate. His playing is very "dirty", not necessarily a bad thing. Its just such a mess that its unique, and does sound beautifully evil at the same time. Its tougher for guitarists to imitate personality in sound&style over everything else.
