+Morgan Presley To be fair the Beastie Boys are feminists. They took issue with Prodigy over their performance of the song "Smack My Bitch Up" when they played at Reading together in 1998. Because of their feminist beliefs, the Beastie Boys have certain songs that they no longer perform or have changed the lyrics when they do perform them. The "wiffle ball bat" line in "Paul Revere" is a well known example. A lot of the songs Beastie Boys made in their early days were ironic goofs that weren't supposed to be taken seriously. "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)" was making fun of macho rock party anthems and "No Sleep till Brooklyn" was mocking 80s glam metal bands. "Girls" was making fun of misogyny more than anything. Not defending the song at face value and there are a lot of idiots out there who enjoy the song and miss the point. It's cool that Ke$ha made the female version of the song. I've always been a fan of her and her music.
Yes, the Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, AKA MCA, (RIP MCA 1964-2012) was a strong feminist and a humans rights activist. A song released in 1994, (After the Beastie Boys "matured") Sure Shot, contained the lyrics sung by him at the end saying "I wanna say a little something that's long overdue/ The disrespect to women has got to be through/ To all the mothers and the sister and the wives and friends/ I wanna offer my love and respect till the end" (Or something very similar, this is just off the top of my head.)
‘Girls’ was stuck in my head and I remembered Kesha made this song...apparently there’s people finding it from tik tok and it makes me feel so OLD.....
Cause its dificult for them to admit that the way most of them act is because they were brought up that way our just cause people expected them to act that way without being self-opressed,poor boys
I know is a crime it’s not, but people can upload songs as podcasts. granted, they typically get taken down within a week but I haven’t been able to find one for this song...😔
There is technically a way to do it- you can download the song onto your laptop, add it to Spotify as a local file (Spotify give instructions on their website) and then press download for your whole playlist you add it onto and it should be on your Spotify on your phone 😬
Penguins but its a Jo Jo refrence I’m not promoting anything, and don’t be worried about this song be worried about the original version the original version was actually sexist
@@scoobydoobyshoe boy did u really come here to hate on everyone who has something positive to say about this song? Just leave them be, it's a fricking song, no need for you to get all pressed
I love this song so much and have been searching for it on itunes but couldn’t find it. I knew this before tiktok too so it’s actually nice to have this
today, i was in my study hall, which is mostly filled with girls, and we were talking to our teacher who actually is a dude about how awful some of the boys in our grade are, and he went, “ugh, boys. they’re awful and don’t mature until 27, then they’re ok.” this song is literally him istg 💀💀
Haven't seen any niceguys in the comments so far, but I'm the opposite of a nice guy. I'm like the guys described in the song and I still really like it, it's true for most of us (when we're teens)
