She loves it and has lost weight and has more mobility. Her only other supplement is your 4Paws CBD oil. She used to have bladder issues (struvite stones) and worsening dysplasia but both issues are now managed without meds for now.

Great Ormand Street Hospital did a 2 year high protein, low carb study with children and the children that were on keto diet, their epileptic fits stopped.

I’ve been keto myself for 7years. It transformed my whole life in MIDDLE AGE when doctors just threw pills and bad nutrition my way. I grew up with dogs and we never gave them kibble and we also never gave them bread, sweets but the meat and fat scraps, fish, some veggies and occasional starch like potato. They lived much longer than dogs today. Fat is just not the issue, it’s sugar /starch and processed foods.

My pup has been keto for years. She had a cancerous tumor in her ear and this was recommend my her oncologist. She loves it! I do still leave out orijen out but she really doesn't touch it. I change up the protein but because she is a senior I tend to keep the fat lower.

When multiplying the amount do you multiply everything except the vitamins? Or just the meat/protein?

Thank you for the simple instructions and the positivity you send out. My Mercy has been on phenobarbital 30 mg twice a day for about 3 years. She is a medium size crossbreed dog weighing around 30 kg. The new doctor who is treating her is against its use. She's been taken off her medication at the beginning of this month and since then she had three short fits on 3 days at a stretch. After listening to you I have decided to put her on a Keto diet. Please tell me if there is anything else I can do keeping in mind I am from Sri Lanka.

Seizures: What good timing for this video for my dog, I was interested in if keto diet would help his seizures. I was watching a movie (true story) about a boy that was having life threatening seizures, the hospital was about to kill him, and was against the mother taking him to a different hospital that did keto diet. The mother took him to the better hospital that done keto diet and they didn’t feed their patients for three days prior to starting keto. Him and several others before and after was cured doing keto diet. Thank you for information that it works on dogs too!

Thank you so much for doing this for people and their pets. Educating on how to keep their pets healthy with proper nutrition is a gift from heaven. Vets usually advise us to stay away from home food because highly processed food has all the nutrients they need.... so they say, but you can see them getting sicker just like we do. I am taking dietetics in college and I think it is horrible how much BS they teach us regarding nutrition. It's all about stuffing everyone with highly processed carbs, us and our pets... really sad.

I started making my puppers dog food from a couple recipes you had, he’s not completely keto, couple times a month I put cooked steel cut oats for a carb, but usually use sweet potatoes or butternut squash as the carb. He loves it!

My dog is addicted to food, she is a medium sized hotdog that dreams of food, she wakes up at 4:00 AM & acts like she needs to go outside, then once inside she runs into the kitchen all excited to get something to eat, if I don’t feed her she just fusses till 6:00 and I feed her, if I feed her 1/2 of her breakfast at 4:00 she will sleep until 7:00, then all day she wants her treats which are raw organic carrots, her sister don’t bother me for any food!!!

What if your dog is healthy now, according to local Vet, but I want to prevent cancer, diabetes etc.? You said consider the diet if they are sick, but I'm guessing you also would start a dog on this before they get sick, just like a people? I'm on keto 1.5 years and have pretty much zero diabetes any longer (type 2) and at a good weight after losing from 140 down to 116. I've subscribed because I believe in what you are saying ;)

Hello there! One of my dogs is 16 and aside from kidney insufficiency, she is alright. But because of this problem, she is eating dog food called RENAL, recommended by our vet. I wonder if there is anything that I could prepare for her at home, that would be healthier. My other one is 6 and she needs to lose weight and I am going to try the keto diet on her (as I have been on the keto lifestyle myself, for the last 4 years and it is awesome).

I’m curious, but why cooked? I’ve been feeding my dogs (and cats) raw ground beef for a few months now, and they all seem to be doing great. They also seem to really enjoy the meat raw. Are you cooking the ground beef to make it more palatable to the dog?

What can dogs that can't have over 12% fat eat that helps them? Should I try the MCT and your additive? I don't want to cause a pancreatitus attach. How does this reconcile with "high fat diets cause pancreatitis in dogs"?? Is it about saturated (animal) fats versus polyunsaturated fats? Would my dog end up with pancreatitis on doggie keto? And would flukes in liver or pancreas explain the discrepancies? I know in humans flukes can alter blood sugar levels upwards by messing with endocrine system and suppressing beta cells. This could be root cause of many problems?

What about vegetables? Because I'm giving my dogs fresh foods with fresh ingredients (with no sugars) but all vegetables have carbs on it. Could you make a video listing what fresh foods for a dog with cancer be good for their keto diet?

Can you use this recipe for a dog that has kidney failure and seizures ?

We've been warned about too much cooked fat causing pancreatitis. Does this change on KETO? I've been feeding my dog Keto/Carnivore for over a year now and he is thriving, but I always wonder about the fat proportions. I make my own dog food following Dr. Nick Thompson's (holistic vet) guidelines, but I always watch the fattiness of the meat. I add coconut oil, which he loves. So I assume my dog is fat adapted, does that reduce the danger of pancreatitis? I have to cook the food a little as he turns his nose up at completely raw.

I am a strict Keto eater so is there anything in the Keto diet a dog shouldn't have? For example, I would not give my dog cacao but it's ok on a keto diet. I'm going with the home-made food, and trying your recipe. That's pretty simple and good on keto, and like me eating the same foods everyday, but I vary the meats/vegies. Sometimes Oils, sometimes Butter, things like that. Will she suffer in the transition from her dog food? I mean like I did from the simple carbs and sugars which she doesn't eat those except if they are hidden in this dog food :(

No way my dogs would eat MCT oil. What about fiber? Like vegetables? I home cook which usually consist of meats (bison/cornish hen/beef roast, turkey once in awhile chicken, never pork) but the majority is vegetables, always red cabbage, mixed with carrots, sweet potatoes, green beans, broccoli. Sometimes peas. But I never add in oils. I give krill supplement. Should I be adding in oils to the foods? More fatty meats?

I was wondering do you have any recommendations for a dog who has had pancreatitis? My dog was diagnosed with it in May. After treatment we were told to put her on low fat food. She was on senior food as she is 12. Her food was 11% but the vet recommended 8% or less. Any food they had contained all the things not recommended for dogs ie. soya, corn. I did not have the heart to feed her such garbage plus the canned they had me try she did not like. The vet said to look at her treats for high fat which I did. Right now I’m giving her her original senior food plus low fat meat and lots of veg which she loves. I was wondering if I could do better for her. Any treats are dried most of them at home.

So I have a diabetic doggy. Maltipoo about 15 years old. He’s on the w/d diet. Canned and dry. I was told by his vet that he needs to be on a low fat food which is why they put him on the hills prescription WD. We have never really been able to get his insulin levels where they need to be he currently gets nine units every 12 hours and the closest to normal we can get him is in the very low 400. Do you think at this point it would be recommended to try this diet and do a glucose curve to see its affects?

dogs are like wolves facultative carnivores, meaning carnivores who, when at a pinch, can survive to a limited extent on some non-meat food. the difference is that, living alongside us for the past +20k years or so, dogs have evolved to use some more non-meat stuff than wolves. but overall they are mostly carnivores, so yeah, in a way i guess you can say they should be on keto diet, as long as that mostly includes just meat... cats and felines in general are instead obligate carnivores, they can only tolerate very small amounts of food other than meat but must subsist pretty much only on meat.

@Dr.Jones ..we rescued our dog Fuzzy 4 yrs ago from an animal shelter. The past owner had to go to a nursing home. 9 months later she became diabetic and went blind. I am also diabetic for 35 yrs. Type 1 and so is Fuzzy. I make her food plus give her some canned wd from the vet. She also has allergies so she's on apoqil. And give her a multi vitamin. I check her blood sugar by shaving an area above her tail. Checking her 2 times a day. And giving her shots on her sides rotatating each time, 2 x's a day. She is on NPH. Tell me if I can alimitate rice, but continue with cooked chicken, and low fat ground cooked turkey, or cooked beef. BTW She hates carrots 🥕 lol. Should I give her kibble also?. It is also wd from the vet..please help me 🙏. I would love to alimitate her insulin in the future. She does get lows also sometimes so I treat them with a little maple syrup. We help...we are her eyes and ears ( she can only hear a little.) She is so precious and want her around for a long time. Our vet said she is lucky to have us. Others might have put her down 😥. That WILL NOT HAPPEN with us!! She give unconditional ❤. I appreciate Everything you do to help our sweet babies from GOD 🙏. GOD BLESS YOU. Why cooked meat? I believe raw meat is way better..

I've been told by my vet that cat food is to be kept completely out of my dogs reach because it's harmful due to containing too much protein. He can't kick the near empty can, according to him, as it's bad for his ph.

My last 2 dogs are some what healthy. Lara has skin allergies and constantly gets clogged glands. Now she is getting warts. She is on Rx dog food and I have cut her food down and but she hasn't lost any weight. Sometimes she doesn't eat her 1st meal and just eats her one meal. I give them salmon oil and omega 6 supplements for joint support. The male dog is healthy but Lara skin allergies are under control but she constantly locks her paws and her white paws are brown. Any advice

Why not prevent these diseases instead of treating them after they’re sick. Using autophagy using keto and fasting can prevent all of these.
