The absolute best wrap is the cabbage wraps, red or green. You can blanche 8 or 10 leaves at once for 2 minutes, makes it pliable, and you can wrap anything from veggies to cold cuts, scrambled eggs to leftovers. Never falls apart, stronger than lettuce and way more tasty. Beside that is negative calories. Crunchy and not messy. You can also make it with raw hamburger meat and veggries, bake it in an air fryer. Go to for me when I am out of the house.
Rather than put the fixings between the pickle, spread mayo and mustard on the ham and wrap the ham around the pickle. I find cutting the pickles into quarters works even better. Also, you could cut up the ham and pickle into bite size pieces and mix the mayo into it. It’s a. German Fleisch (meat) salad. Yummy 😋
I used to use Nori sheets (seaweed sheets used in sushi) and layer canned tuna, mashed avocado and grated cucumber/carrot then roll it up and it worked out beautifully. I'm pretty sure the sheets are low carb enough to be suitable on keto and you could put any food items that you want.
Looks yummy. You forgot one really important one. Egg wraps. My recipe: (Makes about 4 egg-tillas) 6 eggs in blender with some mayo and heavy cream and salt. 10" non stick skillet on lo-med heat and melted butter. Pour in just enough egg mix to cover bottom of skillet. Cover (very important). Cook maybe 5 minutes or until no egg runs. Slide out onto a plate. Let stand for a few minutes before wrapping up whatever keto goodness you like just like a burrito. **I make a dozen of these and keep in the fridge for quick use. Bon appetite.
@@marcjames3487 I assume you’re from the UK, are eggs outrageously priced there too at the moment? The eggs I usually buy are now $7.99/dozen here in the US.
Your lettuce wrap tip is something I would not have thought of doing. That and the bell peppers. Perfect. As always, I appreciate what you do for us Annie! 🙂
I don't care for tuna but I wish I did. When I was younger and had meningitis, after vomiting all day, they brought me tuna.... not a good match. Then when I was director of an animal shelter all I could smell when I opened most of the cat food was tuna. Lol
@@WVgrl59 when I was pregnant I definitely had a difficult time with certain foods coming back up 🤢…. But sometimes you can get over it. I absolutely hate seafood but love tuna because I grew up on it!
I’d probably eat the pepper “open face.” With the cucumber, I’d probably take all the stuff to work and make little sandwiches (a slice of cucumber, a slice of tomato, a slice of cheese). I like fiddly food because it makes me slow down; I tend to gobble.
That is a good idea. I have Sjogren's syndrome, so that means I have dryness and difficulty having saliva to break it down and swallow, so I often have to do small portions. These are great videos because I am wanting to lose 10 lb and most importantly not feel so darn achy. Thanks for the tip. ❤️
Loved these ideas! As for the cheese wrap idea, there's a gent on another channel who melts 1.5 Oz of cheese in a bowl then flatens it to a circle between parchment paper then refrigerates it to make a wrap. Super fast, easy and you don't end up with mayo oozing pores on your wrap!
For lasagna noodles, I first bake zucchini brushed with olive oil with parmigiana cheese on top. . (The Kraft grated parm is fine to use) This is so good. Totally satisfies my spaghetti cravings. And spaghetti is my favorite food. I usually make a lot of zucchini this way because they are also very good for a side dish.
and yet others will tell you to NOT eat anything from the Nightshade family like eggplant and tomatoes as they cause "leaky gut" and inflammation of the gut lining. So maybe wheat bread is good for you now? LOL Also, they said to not eat any whole wheat, or rice bran or brown rice as these can irritate the gut lining. Guess we shouldn't drink the water or breath the air either?
I love pickle, tomato and lettuce as bread in sandwhiches and hamburgers! Just use the parchment paper with the tomato, just like how you did it with the lettuce wrap. I also just love the taste of tomato, so maybe that is why I like it so much.
I made what I called a “sunnycado” the other day. I cut an avocado in half hollowed it out a bit then made two sunny side up eggs and cut off the excess whites. Then put it in the avocado boats I made. Topped with cheese and crumbly bacon. Egg was seasoned with salt and pepper and avocado was seconded with crunchy Maldons salt.
I have just discovered your videos and I love them!! You are clear, inventive and cheerful without jumping all over the kitchen! I am definitely going to try your recipes. So far I have lost 2 sizes since January; just need to resist carbs and cook differently. Thanks for improving my health!
I've been making sandwiches using bell peppers for a week now and I'm sold on it. I love the crunch and it adds a light tasty flavor. Easy to eat. I recommend avoiding small peppers. The bigger, the better. 👍
Actually, I like the tomato, but I use a larger sized roma tomato that I slice in half and take out the seeds before filling. I especially like it with chicken salad and some lettuce. It holds together for me almost as well as the green pepper since the roma is firmer and not so juicy.
It would make sense for some of your slippery sandwiches to use a large lettuce leaf just to use as an edible sandwich holder. Just a suggestion. You're using lettuce in most of them anyway. Another suggestion to bump up flavor as well as nutrients, is add a few sprigs of any fresh herb that you like. A favorite of mine is a Reuben knockoff. I make a spread using softened cream cheese, mayo, minced pastrami lunch meat, shredded Swiss cheese, and minced dill pickles (instead of sauerkraut, just squeeze the pickle slices between paper towels to remove moisture before you mince them or it's too much moisture). Mix well and spread on whatever.
I layer deli meat, egg, cheese and sausage and roll up in paper towel for our breakfast/lunch first meal. It's our go to sandwich now. Chaffles are second and egg wraps are third. I'm going to try the cheese melted one for sure.
These suggestions were great! I especially appreciate the demo of how to properly create a lettuce wrap because I have struggled with that, which is our go to. I look forward to making the boiled egg sliders and making my own cheese wraps. Thank you so much!
This was fun to watch! I’ve done a bunch a those - not the green pepper (because I actively hate them and I only like red peppers cooked or diced really finely) or the avocado (because I only like avocados in certain preparations). In the end, I decided the same thing. Either lettuce - romaine leaf canoes or leaf lettuce wraps - or 90 second bread. Then, chaffles when they came along, but they seem a bit thick except for burgers. I do make the cheese wraps sometimes, too, especially if I’m doing more of an Italian deli thing or with a knife and fork for meatball subs. You just saved a lot of people a lot of experimentation!
I'm new to the whole keto thing. So I'm looking for new recipies to introduce and convince my family to trying it. Now I don't like bell peppers, but I have heard that the Female peppers are best to eat raw where as Male people's are best to eat cooked. The way to determine M/F peppers is that the males have 3 bumps on ther bottom where as the females have 4 bumps. The females are sweeter and the males are more robust or savory.
I was taught the same sexing of peppers by my grandma. There has to be some truth to it...there were farmers long before the internet so called fact checkers. Right? Lol
I basically turn any sandwich into a salad with a small bed of lettuce. Burgers, ham and swiss, pastrami. I use the typical keto condiments as a dressing. If you use a small bed of lettuce (like a cereal bowl) you don't need as much dressing. My favorite is an antipasto salad, which is basically a sub/hoagie without the bun. Whole foods has an organic Italian dressing with zero carbs, their 365 brand. So good...
Cannot say enough about flaxseed tortillas... Easy, cheap, low carb and filling. I also lived off of a yellow bell "pepperwhich" with salmon, dill and mayo for an entire summer. Lost a lot of weight in those 3 months
I make them. Milled flaxseed with some hot water until its a dough and then flatten them until they become a tortilla and then put them on a pan and heat them lightly. RU-vid keto flaxseed wraps. You can find a good video
I use Fiesta shredded cheese, make it into a triangle/square on parchment paper, 400 degrees in the oven till bubbly n a lil brown. Shredded cheese is more pliable. I wait till it cools, blot the grease, flip over on clean parchment paper, blot the other side, cover one side with toppings n roll. Cut in half. Family loves it.
I found this searching for ways to eat veggies (and ways to lose weight while doing the Mediterranean Diet.) I'm glad I watched. I'm sure there are a few things I can swap out. Regarding the avocado sandwich, you could score it to be flat (like you did the egg) and try eating it that way. Thanks for your video!
I like the cheese and the Bell Pepper ones. The cheese because melted cooked cheese just does something for me and the pepper one because it holds together so well.
I am new to Keto, and I love your channel. The bell pepper is my favorite to try. But, I could still see myself making the cucumber and pickle sandwiches, but slicing them up, with a toothpick threw them, and eating lunch as if it were a plate of hors d’oeuvres. It’s so much easier to eat. Love the channel. 👍🏼
Another way that is more of a morsel than a large sandwich is to get a large lettuce leaf. Cut out the stiff rib in the center but not all the way to the edge. Then place your fillings in each quarter and start folding each quarter: up, across and then the final quarter up so that you have a kind of a quarter sized pocket or purse stuffed with yummy fillings.
Pro tip from an ex JJ employee. Take your iceberg lettuce and slam it into your counter core side down. Then you can pull the core and get the largest leaf possible. You generally only need 2 leaves.
I have a section in my book about this (not out yet). I’m glad great minds think alike plus honestly what a timely idea to release this video heading into Spring. I’ve been obsessed with soup and beanless chillies but as the weather warms up, original salads & sammies are the way to go. Also you take such pretty videos… I’m not sure my sammies look as gorgeous as yours do 🤣😂!
I enjoy your videos! I would love to see more keto air fryer recipes. I just bought one and I’m having fun playing with it, but most of the videos and recipes I’ve seen online are wheat flour and sugar based.
New to keto an missing sandwiches so much.. Never realized I must have eaten lots of them to miss them.. So cool to have options an choices that dont involve always cooking an baking for me right now.. Feel like ive been starving because so much baking 1st for something quick.. These are awesome.🙌👍😘🤓
Loved the Video, I tried the avocado. I did a half sandwich instead of how we would normally do it with bread. I didn’t add any mayo, I added salt & pepper . Yummy you need to try it.
I tried a lot of those too. I and now making a version of Maria Emmerich’s egg white bread and hamburger buns that Indigo Nile has on her channel. I really like it, it is the most like real bread and 1 slice has 4.2 gm protein, 1.3 gm carbs and .2 gm fat .
Thanks for doing all these. I don’t watch TikTok or Instagram. So I wouldn’t of seen them otherwise. I’m wondering if I could use romaine lettuce for the lettuce sandwich. It almost makes me think it’s less effort just to eat everything separately.
Mission brand has low carb tortillas with 4 net carbs. They have street taco size tortillas with 0 net carbs. Those are my go to "sandwich" choices. I have never tried the keto bread in the store. I never knew how usable they were and I'm someone not huge on trying new things unless someone else has tried them and given them the thumbs up 👍
I think most of these would work so much better as open sandwiches. Apart from the wraps of course, I’m going to try the cheese slices one. The rest - open sandwich all the way!
You lost me when you said the mayo "looked like puss" poor choice of words. Lost my desire to eat, the best weight loss trick you have given out so far.
Been doing leafy green wraps for years, the avocado...I would just wrap my leafy green around it and call it a day. Same thing for the bacon and tuna so far everything looks Delicious! :)
I like the bell pepper one the best. Also I would use cucumber in place of the pickle maybe it'll hold together better. They all looked delicious tho 😋
Those hard boiled egg sliders are so cute! And the bell pepper sandwich idea is great too! EDIT: I've been eating the bell pepper sandwiches for a while now! They're awesome! Why didn't I find this idea earlier?
I've also made keto wraps from eggs by whipping up 2 to 4 eggs, depending on the size you want and the size of your pan, and then spreading it thin on your frying pan on very low heat and cook until it's cooked through. no need to flip. putting a lid on top can help cook any uncooked egg on top if you have that problem.
Really like the bell pepper idea with healthy proteins Thanks. Learned that ending my relationship with chemically processed gluten/ bread has been a real challenge. Let's put on our critical thinking caps. Keto is healthy? Really. Eating all these chemically processed foods is good for us? Really!
I saw on Tic Tok the other day to use sliced sweet potato as a bread substitute. Cut a large sweet potato length ways. Bake the sweet potato slices until they are soft to test, cool and refrigerate. Use instead of bread in sandwiches, toast or with your favourite toppings as a snack!
Sounds like either the lettuce wrap and green pepper sandwich are the neatest and easiest. Thanks for all you effort. PS the melted cheese one sound tasty too. Just maybe need a bit of parchment so our hands don't get greasy! Thanks!
Also, you can make a cucumber sandwich by peeling the cucumber, cutting it in half lengthwise, and scraping out the seeds. Then you can fill it with your sandwich fixings. EDIT: Oops, the cucumber idea was already mentioned.
I would probably try some of these like the boiled egg, pickle and bell pepper as an open faced sandwich with only one half of egg or pickle or pepper but just make 2 small unwiches instead one large if this makes sense. I would eat all of these except avocado...can't like it even a little bit. 😜
Great ideas! I've never been much of a sandwich eater because my mother loved to cook and didn't want us eating a lot of bread. But these are great suggestions. Thanks! 🌯
Me, too! I’m eating a tuna salad and avocado on toasted potato bread while I research how to be keto again. I still have half a loaf leftover and when it’s gone, I’m starting keto! Just trying to get some new ideas for my grocery list.😂
I do the tomato one differently. Cut the tomato in half. Scoop out the innards. Pat the tomato bowls dry with a paper towel and fill with your sandwich fixin’s.
I like to do a collard green wrap. You cut the center rib out of a large raw collard green and use each half leaf as a wrap. I like to put a slice of boiled ham on it first, then a smear of mustard, a slice of swiss cheese, and then the center rib from a piece of romaine lettuce for crunch, volume and to act as the core of the wrap. You get two rolls from each collard and sometimes I add slivered onions or a piece of pickle to add interest.
Of all those I prefer the lettuce wrap but I can say it’s tiresome to eat the same sandwich types so I use low carb tortillas. It’s a good change and I love love love bacon so I’m sure that one will be a winner for me!
A lot of these are just too cumbersome and hard to hold/eat. With the exception of the wraps, I’d rather just chop everything up and eat it out of a bowl. It’s gonna taste exactly the same.
Sola and their some really good keto breads out there that still is keto friendly!! Sometimes convenience is way better. Love you videos Annie. Keto focus is the best. Patti:)
If you watch serious keto he has tried I think every "keto" bread out there ,everyone spiked his blood sugar and I think they all stay high for over 2 hours .
Everyone here have terrific…..additional ideas about smart nutritious food prep/eat. So grateful for your input and theirs. I’m here for the low carb diet. Doctor says I am insulin resistant. I hope to change that…..by my changes here….over the next 6 months. Any info that u share…..is gratefully acted upon. Carry on everyone….and love to You!!! Ahna. Atlanta. Ga.
Thank you so much for sharing your tips. For me the lettuce wrap takes the top prize. It looks like a green tortilla wrap sandwich and it is not messy at all. Have you tried egg white wraps? They are great alternatives as well. Edit: forgot to add the link 😊 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Bxn1tf3p9SU.html
I make bacon weaves once a month to go under pork chops with a butter garlic sauce, one of our favorites and it doesn't take long to make, like a bacon dinner, I also make creamed spinach with bacon to go with.
We’ve tried lots of options, too, but now with low carb tortillas (Mission and Costco has a new one) and Keto Friendly bread (also at Costco) everything else seems like too much work.
@@maddisonbythesea3015 you’re saying that since they have wheat they’re not keto? I don’t understand the correlation. Keto doesn’t mean no wheat, it means putting your body into ketosis, which happens your fat consumption is significantly higher than your carb consumption and your body begins to produce ketones for energy instead of using glucose. Wheat or no wheat.
@@maddisonbythesea3015 yes, please do Google it. You’ll find: The ketogenic diet is a very low carb, high fat diet. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. This reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis.” No mention of grain free. I found a single reference to eliminating grain but the comment was that the reason for that was to reduce the carb count.
Best the pepper l had try it loved it for Cucumber l have see it half cut and made of sandwiches not in slices like you did less slippery and no mess the salad looks good want to try it
