Great demo of an undermarketed instrument, as a module nothing beats the sd40 from Ketron(except the upcomming sd90) ... what i would love to see however is another front screen, where you can switch all 4 sounds on and off... and the 2 left hand sounds... ( as well as switching the 4 soundsets). Thats something i am missing from the Ketron OS. But first and foremost thank you for all these lovely demo’s. I like that you gave it their own channel, instead of using Wersi USA, which was for some people kind of comfusing as they asumed Wersi USA to be an official Wersi channel. Keep them comming Curt.

Thanks Jules. I had an Audya5 here for a few days, and like the SD90 both have additional physical controls vs. being a touchscreen "button" as they are in the SD40. Of course, the price you pay for those physical controls is the overall size of the unit. We have one more Latin piece that we might put up. After that, we are going to do a few tunes using the Styles in the SD40 vs. using our own drum tracks. Sometime this weekend we will be releasing a "how-to" video that shows working with an SD1000 and Cakewalk instrument maps.

Thank you for the great videos. I have a question, I bought this module, but I am more interested in Arabic drum kit. Do you know if there is a such a kit to be added to the system?

You have no idea how your videos have helped me. Thinking about foot controls, do you have a video on them. SD 40

Thanks for the kind words. We covered using an HS9 ( (no longer available) in the video below. Please take a look; it will give you an overview of what is possible using the Ketron footswitches. We have not attempted working with non-Ketron pedal switches - Enjoy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QCaeE_ZqBgI.htmlsi=tIf4gbzEQSSgxwGb

Is the SD-40 suitable for a guitar/vocalist? If it is, what type of guitar does it recognize? Only a MIDI guitar? Please advise. Thank you.

Awesome. Can we import wav. loops to make custom styles in SD40?

I'm not in the studio today but will take a look over the weekend and let you know. I haven't touched an SD40 in almost a year. I need to take a look at a couple of screens first.

@@thestylesworld We poked around a little this morning and I'm not going to say 100% it can't be done but we were not able to find a way to do it. On the SD90 there is a feature called LaunchPad that allows you to import loops and combine them either with existing styles, MIDI or audio data. Not exactly what you asked but a way to use loops. Again, only available on SD9.SD90/SD60. Hope that helps?

@@immusicstore Thanks for your reply. I also asked to Ketron customer support later, they said SD40 doesn't have sampler function but SD90 has, so you are right that SD40 can't do that and only allow to make custom midi styles.

does that thing have good accordions? and can it be connected to a korg pa 700 keyboard? thanks
@immusicstore

You can control from any device that has MIDI out, so should be no issue from the Korg you mentioned. I poked around a little, and we don't have any audio demos of the accordion sounds... 😕

Yes it does. I don’t know how you would address bellows control, possibly with an expression pedal

Big Band 4 could be a nice style, I wish I could use this - BUT the drum part is pretty weird in variation 3 and 4. Tried to fix this in style editor by replacing this with some Audiodrums from another Swing style. But I noticed, this Audiodrum part, what works well in its original style, makes the same mistake in variation 4. Seems, there are control messages what forces to play one bar, to repeat this 6 times and to play another bar in bar 8. I tested this drumloop in another style and noticed, that variation 4 is there ok. But about variation 3, this sounds, as would have been a mistake while doing the audio slice process. Beside the drums, this style is nice. But I have no idea, how to fix it. Could you do something, that this style works fine?

Hey Rob - Just took a listen on SD90. Guessing it's the same style but not sure? We no longer have an SD40 onsite. The best bet would be to reach out directly to Ketron and report your findings. We rarely use styles, and even if we did, we could not make changes to the factory styles from Ketron.

@@immusicstore Have no opportunity. First, in Germany most music stores can't allow customers to come, everything is done by internet or phone call order. Second, the next store from my city, who has a SD9 or 90 on display is 700 km away.

Can you transfer patterns from the XD3 to the SD40 ? If so how ?
@immusicstore
@immusicstore 5 лет назад
Gotta say XD3 was before our time but let me check with a few folks and see if I can get you an answer.
@immusicstore
@immusicstore 5 лет назад
We are not able to verify these steps as we don't have an XD3. Please give it a try and let us know if it works for you as expected? Copy the (x, xd, sd series ....etc.) styles onto a USB stick. - Insert that into the new SD9/40/60/80/90 USB slot. - Press media and select the USB drive - Go to the folder where these styles reside and touch any twice to load. - The unit will ask if you want to convert this selected style or the entire folder from .pat (old format) to .kst (new format). Touch convert all. - When done, copy all the converted styles (ending with .kst) to a user style folder (probably unplugged). - Now you should be to play as any user style.

@@immusicstorehe XD3 doesn`t have a USB port therefore I copied my XD3 patterns onto a floppy disk and then copied them via my PC onto a USB stick. I then inserted the USB stick into one of the 3 SD40 USB ports. The SD 40 automatically converted the data to ``KST format`` and I was able to play the patterns successfully, although the volume dropped somewhat in comparison to the SD40 styles volumes. Now I`m trying to figure out how to copy those patterns into the SD40 USER Styles Bank, if that is possible ?
@immusicstore
@immusicstore 5 лет назад
@@delloso6205 The best way is to connect the SD40 to your PC via the USB port on the back of the unit. Touch the Media button on the SD40 and then "Connect to PC." The SD40 will show up as another drive letter on your PC. Change to that new Drive Letter on the PC, and you will see a folder called "User_Style." Just copy the files to that folder using normal commands on your PC. Use the "eject" feature of your PC to properly disconnect the SD40. Finally, touch the "PC-Connect" button on the SD40 again and then OK. The styles will now be available as "User Styles." BTW - Works on PC or Mac the same way.
