Believe it or not, the hottest part of the pot is about 10" up the side. It's easily over 100 degrees hotter there than at the bottom. That's where the burning takes place. One downside to this method, is that you can't forget about it while it's cooking. It is way too easy to get into a conversation with someone, and it starts to burn. The upside is that you can get into conversations with people. :) It is very dangerous to use this method, if you are forgetful.
Eric, I understand you embracing an automated approach to popping kettle corn, but do you feel the old fashion way of popping is more entertaining for your customers?
