Great video, and very accurate information! I am a petite female training with kettlebells for a couple years and I have bells ranging from 8 to 28. I find my 8, 10, and 12 are the bells that I get the most use out of.

As a female I use 2x8 kg for anything overhead like press or turkish get up, 12 kg for swings & squats and 18 kg for swings, deadlifts and single arm farmers walk.

Thanks, Mark, for these videos! I learn so much! I've been doing swings (maybe 60 lb. on a good day) and goblet squats (40 lb.) as part of fitness classes, but with your vids, it's got me rethinking my random use of KBs. So, I'm looking forward to adding the other 3 moves with lighter KBs & working the math and weight progression (once my gym re-opens and I get some KBs for home use!) Thanks, again!

Thank you for this video and the Hard vs. Soft Kbells. I have a 5lbs and 10lbs hard-style kettlebells and need to move up to 8 kilos for right now. I have been struggling to decide which one to invest in. I was going to get a Rogue competition kettlebell. I decided to go hard style. I can get a 8k and and 10k hard style for the price of one competition kelltlebell. Thanks again. Your instructions and advice are leaps and bounds better than most of the other RU-vid channels. Thanks again.

Absolutely love all your content! It is by far the most superior and precise one here on RU-vid! I love kettlebells and I’m fairly new to them. I have an 8k for now. Would really really like to sign up for a paid program for beginners/ intermediates if there is one by you (couldn’t find anything mentioned on your website) and I haven’t come across a lot of kettlebell experts here in India where I reside.

Good advice! I am a 5'1 female. I have heavier kb's but I find the 8, 10, & 12 kg the most useful especially if you grow into using double kb's. I really like the in-between sizes like the 10 and 14 kg kettlebells if you can find them.

Gotta love adjustable kbs for saving you the space and the money. Powerblock's goes up to 16k, seems like plenty when going for reps.

I ordered a couple 8 kg competition bells on sale and they are too light. I can do like 20 reps. I’m a regular heavy weight lifter. I do have cast iron 25 and 40 lb kettlebells and I’m really trying to figure out what two I should order next and challenge myself. I think maybe a 12 and 16kg? The 40 lb is kind of light on swings and I wanted a 20 or 24kg but won’t be able to do presses just goblet squats.

Dude, priceless knowledge. Just a few days ago I had a discussion with my girlfriend regarding which weight should she start with. Pavel's S&S 16kg for the swing scared her away before even trying. I think the 8kg option will be eye opening. Thanks so much!

A bit late, but still. I might have some insight from the "girls" perspective :) got the 8kg and 16kg about two years ago for my birthday, after attending a strongfirst simple and sinister course (I'm a 174cm, 58kg female ... So, not big at all :D ) ... The 8 became very light for swings very quickly so i was happy to have the 16 (I do one arm swings with it now) and I want the 12 for get ups now :) (and 20 or even 24 for swings, but they all sold out). I can see how the 16 (and heavier) bells can be intimidating for a beginner, especially a lady since there still seems to be this stigma about women lifting anything heavier than 5kg unfortunately (I've had people tell me I shouldn't lift that, that it'd be too heavy for me, I might hurt myself, or even that I won't be able to have children... ?!?!). Everyone takes their time of course, but I'd encourage anyone to not let the number on the kettlebell discourage them, 16kg really isn't that much when you think about it and it's a great confidence booster :) so yeah, good luck to your girlfriend, I wish more girls/women got into kettlebell training as well ;)

Alt home I have a 10kg and a 16kg. During lockdown I swung the 10kg daily, and then used the 16kg for deadlifts etc until I decided I should try swinging it!!! Now that I‘m back in the gym, the 16kg will be used for swinging. Working up through the weights is the way I progressed,.

Hello... I recently found your channel, and am hoping you can help me. Quick history - I am a 53 yr old female, lifetime of working with horses & on farm/ranches. Nine years ago I weighed 145# and could sling a hundred hay bales without much issue. July of 2014 I was trampled/kicked by a crazy pony mare while I was working with another horse, resulting in various degrees of damage to L2-S3. I couldn't support myself on my legs at all for 6mo,had no insurance, and was basically sent home by the ER being told "you'll either improve or you won't, you just have to give it time". Over the next 2 years my now husband worked with me and I am again mobile, with unsteady moments. During that first 6mo I went up to 210#, although I couldn't stand to eat much. In 2020 I tore my abductor tendon almost off, and did tear a chunk of glute off. Both still hurt, insurance would not approve surgery "because of your blood pressure" - thank you United. Those are improved, but will probably never be 100 % again. And, I am 5wks out from abdominal surgery, from an auto accident, 4"+ tear fixed, I am basically mesh in front now. The weight is killing me. Everything you described in another video about arches collapsing and toeing in and knee pain, I have. At my last surgery follow up Friday I asked the doctor about your recommendations in that video, and he said yes, that will be safe for you, but start very light and go slow. I have tried beginner pilates 18mo after the abductor tendon issue, & 2nd "beginner" class I reinjured the abductor. I am honestly afraid of any more pain. All day, every day, is pain. What would your recommendations be on kettle bell weights, what I can safely do? Before the auto accident I was doing some of Hybrid Callisthenics simple beginner exercises like wall push ups. My spine doctor said I am never to do bridges ever again because they compress what we are trying not to compress, and stopped my PT because the instructor kept insisting I do them and she could track the increased damage to my spine. I want to lose the weight, help. I did 3+yrs of 1100 cal/day, very little carbs (like 5gms),high protein, lost nothing. Dr kept saying "you're lying" until my husband went with me and told him what I ate.. Then it was "you're not eating enough, I want you taking in 1700cal",so I worked up to that. I haven't gained anything, but I also haven't lost. I am beyond frustrated. Please help me.

I would put any recommendation at a 4 kg completion kettlebell from bells of steel or from pro kettlebell.com. The pro kettlebell 4 kg can have an internal magnet weight from the same company. That makes it a 5 kg weight going up. I will specific video just about this. I have a program coming out in about 2 weeks, that have all my tecommendations.
