Kevin Conroy was an amazing Batman, an amazing talent, and an amazing person. He was a big part of my life, and I just wanted to share why. RIP to the 1 true Dark Knight
Kevin was a great man. I had the joy of meeting him at a con. He greeted me and my buddy as bros, like a life long friend being welcomed back from a long journey. I had to thank him for all the joy and amazement his Batman brought me over the years; especially when the show debuted when I was 8. I was happy to share how much he not only meant to his fans, but how we will never forget him as a person.
I still can not get over that he is no longer with us. I feel like I've lost a relative, a brother at that. Thank you Kevin Conroy for everything, and for making my childhood (and teenagehood). You'll forever be remembered as THE Batman ❤️
Rest in peace Kevin, once again death has claimed yet another great man. he will always be the best Batman voice actor ever and no new actors performance as the character will ever top Kevin's!
This hurt me in the same way. I was crushed when I heard. He was such a great guy. He cared so much about his performance as Batman and pleasing all of his loyal fans. He brought so much to the table since the beginning. Just such a sweet man. Goodbye Kevin Conroy.
I think it says a lot when most of us feel as if we’ve lost a close friend with the passing of Kevin. His Batman evoked within us our hurts and struggles, but most importantly our greatest strength: to share compassion, our humanity, with those around us.
This absolutely crushed me. Kevin wasn’t a voice for Batman, he was Batman! He was a hero in real life to so many people. He embraced being Batman and deliver a great performance for his fans. He did more than any other actor has or ever will. To me, they should stop making Batman comics because without Kevin, there is no Batman. Rest In Peace Dark Knight. 😢
@Sean Botti I was in shock. I couldn't believe it. But as my week end dragged on, it became clear that Conroy was no longer with us. And that's when the tears came.
Believe me, you didn't have to be a family member to love this beautiful man! It just amazes me that one voice can affect so many. I can't even watch the last 4 minutes of the BABY DOLL episode of BTAS without balling in tears. Now that this caring human being is gone? At least we have that great voice immortalized on film, TV, and video games to keep his memories alive. May we meet some distant day, Mr. Conroy....
That tribute was beautiful man. Just like you, I’ve never met him or even had a BURNING desire to meet him, but once I heard about his passing on Friday when it was made public, I was dumbfounded and legit couldn’t believe it. From how kind, approachable and understanding he was away from the VO booth, his death still feels unfair. We lost another good natured soul to the plague that is cancer. I wish nothing but the best for the actors who will voice Batman going forward, but this franchise will NEVER be the same without him. To many people including myself, Kevin Conroy IS Batman. Rest In Peace Caped Crusader. Your voice is immortal.
Kevin was awesome. He IS Batman to me. Always have,always will. I was super lucky that he answered my question in one live stream. And he really took his time with his answer. And I geeked out like crazy. Still sad that that was our only interaction. R.I.P to you,legend. Thank you for being my childhood hero.
Every time you play an Arkham game (except Origins), rewatch an old episode of BTAS, JLU, and some of his movies from the DCAU, and even when you read a Batman comic you will continue to hear his voice. Even though he's gone his spirit and most importantly his iconic voice will live on.
Still in shock about his death . If I had known sooner that he had cancer I would've prayed day and night for him to be cured . I loved him deeply as a wonderful human being and admired his amazing talent . R.I.P. Kevin . I love you and will always miss you.
Exactly. He was a small but significant part of my life for 30 years. The amount of sorrow I feel at his passing has caught me off guard. Thank you Kevin Conroy. We'll never forget you.
I felt the same way after Sean Loche died (cats does countdown)....Kevin was the voice of batman.....hands down the best, and hearing of his passing was pretty upsetting.
I was genuinely heartbroken when I learned he passed away. I always heard Kevin’s voice whenever I read a Batman comic and to me showed how layered Batman could really be.

Totally relate, its actually hit pretty hard hearing he passed away. Really feels like a family member or friend has been lost. I've commented this on another video, but even to this day, whenever I read a comic with batman in it, Kevin's voice is the one that I picture. Will always know him as The Batman, and someone who seemed like a genuinely great person
I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin Conroy at a convention a few years ago. He was genuinely one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. He made an effort to learn and remember everyone’s names, greeting them and just having a conversation while they took a photo or he signed something for them. I was so starstruck, I’m sure I was just blubbering like an idiot but he was so kind about it. We talked about how he was doing and how he liked the city, and when it came time to move on to the next guy in line, he shook my hand and said “It was nice to meet you, Will” and wished I had a good day. Looking back, I think it’s those little moments that made him such a great man. He cared about every single one of his fans. He was so appreciative of every fan of his, even the ones he wasn’t able to meet. Rest In Peace, Mr. Conroy. The Dark Knight won’t be the same without you.
I always liked how he voiced Bruce Wayne, his voice takes on a laid back carefree tone that's so different from how he does Batman. I think that's the mistake the new movies make. They put no effort into making a convincing Bruce Wayne, so they end up over-compensating when they do Batman's voice.
I had the same, man. Every person who has ever left has not been as important to me personally as Kevin. When I heard about it on Friday, I was shocked, I just can't believe it! I still can't! I cried all Saturday. It was a new feeling that I hadn't felt before. It was so painful. He made my childhood and teenage years better by watching Batman: TAS and playing Arkham Games. I will miss him very much..
Kevin Conriy and Peter Cullen both are wonderful people who embody the same philosophy in life and when they take on their signature role. Peter Cullen once said that his brother gave him advice on how to voice Optimus Prime when he auditioned for the roll, that advice was "If you're going to be a hero. Be a REAL hero, not those Hollywood types with the shouting and the BS. Be strong enough to be gentle" and Kevin WAS all that. His batman was the strongest because he also knew when to be gentle, when he needed Batman to be intimidating, but also show the humanity and the compassion behind the cape and cowl. and in life Kevin, by other accounts, was never a sour puss or was ever negative, he was always wonderful to be around and just as the Transformers community unanimously agree that Peter IS Optimus Prime everyone agrees that Kevin Conroy IS our Batman He will always be missed, much like the man who came before him. When I was a kid I looked up to this batman (Kevin's version), I didn't say that I want to be a doctor, lawyer what ever, I used to say I want to be the batman. so I was kinda obsessed with this character I read the comics, watched the movies but nothing felt like this man I would love, admire to become. But now I know it was Kevin's version. he gave the char sth unique (sth good, responsibility, and brought it to life ). He is the batman literally and more important from that he's a good man and it hurts because he was a part from our childhood, so when you take sth from your childhood it becomes just a memory and that's what all people are after dying memories, so it better be good ones. RIP for all the dead ones
There isn’t kinder Batman than the one portrayed by Kevin Conroy. Gentle and strong.. such a tragedy.. I wish I had a chance to meet him in some capacity..
Kevin Conroy was the heart and soul of Batman. The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. He gave 110% in everything he did as Batman... and Beyond. He left a lasting impact on many fans. He and the late, great Adam West were my personal favorite Dynamic Duo... Because of them (& other actors), Batman is the most iconic HERO everyone has known. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him in person, but sadly it didn't happen... Anyways, Batman: The Animated Series shall be known as the best animated/TV show in history because of Kevin and fellow voice actors, Loren (Robin/Nightwing), Tara (Batgirl) & others. Thank you, Kevin for EVERYTHING. We'll miss you here, but Heaven has gained a Dark Knight/Caped Crusader. May God bless his soul and may Kevin say "hi" to Gray Ghost for us... RIP, Adam West and Kevin Conroy. You are our BATMAN... FOREVER.
Whenever I heard his voice, I knew he Was Batman. TAS was brilliant! Mask Of The Phantasm was Incredible! ( Perhaps even better than many of the live action films) He really Was Batman. R.I.P 😟
I am crushed, my dream is dead. One of the top things I've always dreamed of doing was meeting this man at a convention and getting his autograph (hopefully dressed as the Grey Ghost). I will never be able to tell him the impact he made on a lonely 2nd grader in the 90's. He was my first hero, and that is a high bar to reach for every other character as I grew up. He made this world a better place, and his pain has ended, may he rest in peace.
This absolutely devastated me. I’m 40 now and he was the sound of my childhood. Luckily my other half was with me and he understood the importance of it. I never got to meet him and I will regret that for the rest of my days. I’ve heard from several people how much of a stand up guy he was and from interviews I’ve seen, he always seemed like such a gentleman. He will be greatly missed by a hell of a lot of people. You're absolutely right there's been no Batman that's been able to capture Bruce's side as well as the Dark Knight tone so perfectly. Especially his undertone was always compassion and with a hint understanding. You could tell from Kevin's tone that he understood the villains were just hurt people like everyone else acting out pain, just like Bruce was. Great points and a great video!
Thank you Mr Conroy. Your voice will live on inside those voice actors who strive to walk your path. Your Batman's voice are the standard and the foundation for those who will voice Batman in the future and with you as foundation, you shall never be forgotten ever.
Honestly hearing that Kevin Conroy died hurt a ton. I hadn't watched a lot of BTAS growing up, my husband got me into it, but since then Batman is a favourite Superhero, all because of Conroy's acting. Now I'm watching the series as a whole and so far his performance in Two Face's first episodes blew me away. Thank you for posting the DC Pride panels what a gorgeous, deep story that was.
Everything you said was how I felt. Batman the animated series was one of the first series I ever watched! So to now say I will never hear that voice again hurts. I felt I lost someone close since in a way most shows I watched had him in them! RIP Kevin, You made my childhood an AWESOME one!
Until listening to his interview on Inside Of You with Michael Rosenbaum (JLU's Flash), I had no idea of the struggles he faced as a closeted gay man, or his relationship with his alcoholic father. In spite of all the reasons he could have taken to be spiteful at the world, he still chose kindness. Rest in peace, Kevin, our real Batman.

I fully agree with you. losing Kevin is like losing something important part of my childhood. I m a big batman fan and he was the real batman. first time in my life I had tears in my eyes at someone's death. it is a strange feeling.
It's truly magical and profound how much Kevin used just his voice to bring people together, to give them a hero to look up to, to inspire them to be better and teach them important lessons about life. His Batman was the absolute greatest, the exemplification of not just what makes a perfect interpretation of that character, but what makes a good man. I consider myself lucky to have been born to witness so much of his Batman career over the three decades he carried the torch for the Caped Crusader. He made my childhood special and got me hooked on Batman through his wonderful portrayal, and I got to fall in love with his work all over again as a teenager playing the Arkham games. Through every stage of my life, his work was always there to uplift me and make me feel happiness. It's a great comfort that he was such a class act outside the recording booth, and I'm glad he got to get direct interaction from fans at all the cons he went to so that he knew just how beloved he was. He'll always be my Batman.
@BlythePennyBicycle21 alongside Bob Hastings, Comissioner Gordon himself to enjoy their yearly tradition with some coffee on the new day after New Year's eve. As well as being alongside Adam West the batman he looked up to before Kevin's time and the Grey Ghost himself. The hero to Batman himself.
Being a 90's kid and whenever people ask 'who's the best Batman?' and I'd always reply 'Kevin Conroy' and had to explain who he was, and when they remembered the90's animated series, everyone said 'ok, who's the 2nd best Batman?' I still can't believe it.

When Maurice LaMarche passes, I am going to weep for days. I haven't cried for Kevin yet, but there will come a time, whether it's re-watching an old animated episode or movie, or re-playing the Arkham games. I'll hear a line or two and lose it.
Had to come back because it first started playing in the car and its hard enough driving at night without sobbing. Thank you for the video man. My heart hasn't really hurt like this since we lost Chadwick.
