as a college kid who has always been told he's gifted and highly intelligent, I relate to him. I've been arrested, sent to rehabilitation therapy, kicked out, suspended and attempted suicide. just because you are intelligent doesn't mean you don't have street knowledge. what he spits is a form of knowledge brought about by a hard life and struggles with depression.

It hit home when Kevin said he doesn't have a good rlshp with his mother because she needed affection from other men and forgot about her child. Thank God for my grandmother.

It kills me when people expose their insecurities online by trying to invalidate his intelligence and world views. Look how easy it is to be threatened by somebody who doesn't even know you! Wow, game recognize game and he got game. He had her eating out the palm of his hand from the word go. He is what we used to call "a ghetto professor". He can read you, he looks like he isn't paying attention but he is reading your body language and tailoring what he is saying to what you want to hear. Kevin Gates is my favorite rapper & almost artist period. Im from the country in a small town in East Tennessee. Country is my favorite genre but Rap is right next to it. Kevin is a true, genuine, open hearted rap artist. He speaks the words from his heart and has really lived every word that he speaks. He dont care about getting rich, he done made it. Out the mud. I truelly believe he is one if not maybe the best rap artist ever. Its not just about how you rhyme, its how you fit the words your speaking. Would love to meet Kevin Gates. Im just a countrg boy but I can relate go a lot of his music. I know how it feels to hustle everyday as hard as you can. Ive quit jobs I could have probably be manager by now because it doesnt take much for people to get to me. I have anger issues and depression. Lost my mother about 4 years ago.. I was just a few months shy of my 21st birthday. Never seen it coming. Kevin has been through the struggle and really knows how to speak his feelings through the mic. Hes lived it and painted a picture of lyrics about it.
