Why spend £200k though? If you're willing to forego space, £60k gets you a narrowboat and £40k gets you a static caravan, both so much more cheaper to construct and run, oh and lets not forget, narrowboats get you an ever changing garden
The husband looks the spitting image of my granddad who sadly passed away 2 months ago. Can’t lie it made me soooo emotional to see him. He’s a proper doppelgänger of him it’s mad 🥺 I couldn’t even concentrate on the house but after rewatching the video I’m impressed by what they were able to achieve, this should be the future of new build houses
RIP to your grandad. I never got to meet or know mine, so I hope you cherish all the wonderful memories that you have of what I’m sure was a great guy.
@Jake Hughes thank you for your condolences Jake, that so sweet of you to take your time to write to me. My granddad was such a phenomenal man and because of that I’m so sorry to hear that you never got the chance to meet or know yours, and essentially all the times you missed out with him. I’m sure if he was around he would have made a wonderful and positively long lasting impact on you!
@@KandyBabes that’s really kind of you to say, too! Sadly he passed away when my dad was only 14, but I’ve heard plenty of stories to make me feel some kind of connection with him. My other grandparents either passed away when I was really young or was too ill to get to know properly by the time I could hold a conversation with an adult. You’re most welcome for the comment - I’m sure we both know how toxic the internet can be so it’s nice to be positive to one another. Seeing your message to begin with struck a chord with me: very real, and showed that your granddad had a great impact on your life.
@Jake Hughes aww I’m really sorry to hear that, but glad that your family were still able to honour their memories in sharing stories with you and helped you form a connection though they are no longer here. As you’ve picked up my granddad was very special to me, our family and pretty much everyone who knew him. The eulogies given at his funeral were a great testament and reminder of what an amazing person he was and the impact he had in our community. In all honesty with you Jake it still doesn’t feel real that he’s not here anymore. At times it feels like a day, others like a lifetime, but I guess that’s the process of grief. And yes I couldn’t agree more with you, the internet can be such a horrible and demoralising place at the best of times so I’m glad that our paths somehow crossed here on this comment section. I wish you well in all that you do and hope that you and yours are staying as safe as possible in mind body & soul though all the madness in the world right now 💕
It's Grand Designs...its never about the architecture and more about the drama, issues of the process and prejudices of society against architecture...if they truly concentrate on the architecture, it would not be "good telly"...
Built in 3 days is still what it took. You never count offsite time. That's like saying oh it only took a day to install all the solar panels but factoring in transportation, production, material sourcing etc it took some months.
Would like to have known of its foundations, drains and gutter system? A floor map and better angles showing the home would be nice too. Tight camera angles does not reflect its true picture.
Hi Rohani, Most realtors also sell land plots to build on. But you have to research the area to make sure they allow the type of home you want to build..that the land is safe to live on..etc. It's easier if you want to live in a rural area..but if you want to live in a neighborhood they tend to be much stricter about what type of homes they allow. Many won't allow homes like this to be built because they are afraid the home will decrease in value..unlike a regular home..and that will bring property values down. And neighborhoods that do allow this type of home to be built may not be the most desirable places to live in terms of safety and security.
@@rohanieat What do you mean by "different story in the UK"? What I told you is what my UK realtor stated to me when I inquired about possibly building this type of home. Maybe you got the wrong advice?
@@rohanieat Very disappointed in you. I took the time to try to help you with a long answer by what I was told by a UK realtor. You could have returned the favor by explaining what you meant instead of just responding with 13 words. If you want people to help you, you must be willing to do the same for others, instead of just taking without giving anything in return.
@@Nightbird. You must be blessed to not know many Indian men. @Rohani vlogs bad attitude is very typical of Indian men in the UK. They feel very entitled and just want to take without giving anything back. They are some of the laziest, rudest and nastiest people you will ever meet. Indian women on the other hand tend to be hard working and wonderful, and many of them support their good-for-nothing Indian husbands. As a business owner I will happily employ Indian women, but never an Indian man.
Hi, if anyone can confirm...was this a Huf Haus? I am a wheelchair user, here in Ireland, and have a site. Would love a similar design myself. Appreciate any information. Have lovely day everyone.
Not sure. Checked the episode notes.. no clue.. you could give them a call(hufhaus) or also contact DanWood houses-they have a European spread too... All the Best with building a home that works for you, in the emerald isle👍
Is that bad luck? I had no idea! Anyway, these people aren't scared of a little risk; they gave a man over 200K when he promised to give them a brand new house within a few weeks!
Nothing wrong with steel. Thermal breaks can be managed, and the result is lighter and more fireproof than steel. That said, modular home construction in Canada is quite common, and you’ll find units made with standard lumber as well as steel. Transport of wood structures isn’t a problem. I’ve built foundations that have had 4 modules placed over a walk-out basement, and you’d never know it was factory built.
If I could purchase a 3 or 4 bedroom home like this for around $300k and place it on a private/rural piece of land about 30 minutes outside of Edinburgh or Glasgow it would be perfect. Because the last thing I want to do is live in a noisy neighborhood filled with screaming kids and nosy neighbors watching your every move. If anyone knows any companies that do this please post. Thanks!
£220k, modest? Modular housing used to be all about low cost, & speed of construction.........like the millions of prefabs built after WWII! If this house is considered 'low-cost', then the Govt had better lift the minimum wage to around £20-£30 per hour, so we can afford their idea of 'affordable' housing!!😲
Well said, James! 😉👍 This lovely couple was obviously wealthy compared to most. And in all honesty..this home probably cost less than $50k to make..especially when you compare it to prices of lodge homes being sold in retirement parks..which have identical/similar building practices. I feel sorry for our youth. They are all going to end up living in tiny apartments crowded next to each other with no sense of privacy or ownership. And you can bet if they raise the minimum wage the prices of homes will go right up with it so that future generations will never get ahead due to greed. As an American..I would like to retire to Scotland in a couple of years..but I'm truly afraid I won't be able to afford to find or build a brick home with a bit of land for privacy/gardening due to these escalating prices. 😕
Richard McKrell so to get the structure sounds it took 3 days but to have all the electrics connected and water connected and to move everything in etc etc in total it took 3 weeks 😊
Samanths Yu it’s secured to the foundations and the ground is levelled off etc and they’re aren’t too many typhoons in Bicester so I think they’re good 😂
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5 (written before the birth of Jesus)
I watched the full episode and really they feature in about 20 minutes of the programme as we get updates on some of the other couples. Maybe because it was a modular build and the couple's circumstances, who knows.
Land and construction was total £220k; their total outlay was £280k but that extra £60k is probably a combination of interim rental outlay, delays in getting their finances approved, storage costs and the garden shed they purchased to store their belongings.....
