Great reaction. KO is legitimately humble. All of the other members agree he is the most talented. He was pre med at Yale when Scott found him. He played the saxaphone at Carnagie Hall his sr year of high school. Spent a year in China as a Jr. Ambassador of the US. Speaks fluent Mandarin and oh yeah invented Celloboxing while he was at it. Yes, Kevin is insanely talented! He also plays saxophone and keyboard. (He's played both cello and sax at Carnegie Hall as a teenager) If you want to hear more solo/lead singing with PTX, his most extensive solo is in "Imagine" where he gets an entire verse, along with some prominent parts in the background harmonies. He has a slightly shorter solo in "Mary Did You Know?", a closing line in "Say Something" and brief bits in several others (mostly Christmas songs). His megawatt smile at the end of this could light up New York City.

Seconded. It's one of their most underrated performances. They do vocal layering similar to what they do in Cheerleader, but more extensively. It's one of the videos where if you pay attention, you learn to respect Kirstin a lot more, since she gets the most complicated part (even though not the flashiest).

He does a great job with his electric cello but if you want to see something really special, check out his original composition "Renegade" which has both insane vocals and killer acoustic cello. He also did an Adele medley with acoustic cello and a fantastic cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me". Kevin is not only insanely talented but he is also a great all around human being. I just can't say enough good things about him. He is my favorite member of Pentatonix.

Ha! Your timing couldn't be more perfect! Kevin walks over to the cello, records a couple of bits, and then (around 7:45) you say, "Look at his face." And every Pentaholic watching your reaction goes, "Yeah, Miss Friday, we're looking at YOUR face in about two seconds!" And then Kevin SHREDS that cello like an electric guitar. I love this man so much. I see that this video is from two years ago, so I'm a latecomer, but I just subscribed before the reaction even started because I could tell I was going to like you. Has anyone pointed you toward the live video of Kevin"s showstopping performance on the current tour, "Kevin's Fifth"? You MUST see it.

Yep, just like Marian Hill's version. ;) He can rap too. I know he can also speak Mandarin and play sax, keyboard and probably make music with a watermelon if that's the way he chooses to go but, I didn't want to leave out his rap skills. While you're checking out the members separately, Superfruit's "Guy.exe" and Avi Kaplan's "Change on the Rise" are must-do's. You also need to get back to Home Free's original song "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget". Great reaction. So much madness in the world these days, it's nice to sit back and share the joy with someone just enjoying amazing talent. Thank you.

Scott watched Kevin's video of beatboxing while playing the cello and knew Kevin was the guy they needed. Kevin was convinced to sing by Avi who gave Kevin the confidence and now just wow.

Here is the background on both the instruments and the singing. Kevin is an instrumentalist, cello and saxophone primarily. He didn't even know he could sing until he was roommates with Avi who taught him initially. Due to the reneging on the award of a record contract to Pentatonix after the Sing-Off competition that they won at the end of 2011 Avi and Kevin Olusola became roommates. This actually was a happy accident because they wound up composing music for Pentatonix together. Avi Kaplan mentioned in a TV interview that he liked "Show You How to Love" because it was the first Pop song he had ever written. Kevin contributed the chorus to the composition. Kevin Olusola, the group's beatboxer, is a Yale graduate (pre-med). He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, loves classical music, and plays piano, cello, and saxophone. He had performed at Carnegie Hall twice as soloist on the cello and saxophone and has appeared on NPR’s “From The Top.” In 2009, he won second place in an international cello competition hosted by Yo-Yo Ma. In 2011, his “Julie-O” RU-vid video was featured by CBS, AOL, Huffington Post and the Washington Post, among others. He was named one of 100 “History Makers in the Making” by TheGrio and was chosen by Quincy Jones to represent him in concert at the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival alongside Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea.

This (and others) are just KO playing in his studio.... his 'smug' look is funny since he's so humble - he is just awesome...and his family are just as awesome. His sister, Candace is a pharmacist and one of the funniest people (watch the Pentacon 2018 vids - she's a scream) he also has a brother (Kellon) who is also studying medicine to become a Dr (not sure if he's finished his degree yet) His parents are also really humorous people... they are both Drs and must be so very proud of all of their children.

What truly amazed me on this video is how he mixed all of this on the fly. Normally you would lay down a track, then gob ack and lay down the next track, and so on. Not Kevin, he says "I'll just lay down all the tracks on the fly so we can do this in one take". He is truly talented. Now you need to check out Avi's "Change on the Rise" video. I think you just might enjoy it too. It is an Avi Kaplan original song.

Could you react to Pentatonix tries to sing 100 pop songs in under 10 minutes challenge by Replay, it really shows the dynamic they have as a group and it's a fun video. I hope you watch it next 🥺 It'll be so greaat. I don't know if someone told you this (probably they already have) but Scott, Mitch and Kirstie grew up together, and started singing as a group when they were in highschool. After that they thought about getting a bass for the group and a beatboxer, so they met avi through a friend (bc avi had a deep voice and also liked singing) and then they met Kevin. I just find interesting how a lot of groups form based on very technical calculations and they search for every member to make the best group possible, but ptx just started as friends that liked singing. Even when they got a record deal, the dealer dumped them and they didn't give up. They have that special connection with each other that make them so likable and funny, so it'd be fun to see your reaction and for you to get to know them better

He is my favorite too, although there is strong competition within the group. When he first joined the group I was told he was not aware he could sing and had some lessons from Avi! He also speaks several languages including Mandarin. He entered Yale as a pre-med before changing to music.

People say he's talented, but the truth is (if you ask him) that he just works his ass off. He won't settle for anything less than his best. He didn't sing at all before joining PTX, but he's been working hard at improving. Compare his high voice in this with the new 12 Days of Christmas track to see how far he has come.

when PTX was looking to compete on NBC the sing off they found KO celloboxing (BEATBOXING TO HIS CELLO ) and hired him, he has played his cello (which he calls 'Byonce') on a few PTX vids and he never ceases to amaze
