@@VictoryOrValhalla14 I see you didn't pay attention to the whole video. He clearly stated the 80L bag had food and water, its not kept in the truck at all times because water freezes in cold temps...weird. And I believe the 4th box had vehicle specific gear. Realize that not everyone needs $5000 worth of recovery gear. Knowing how to drive and more importantly, how to keep yourself out of the situations that require recovery gear in the first place, is more important. You can do everything a winch can, with a come-along, it just takes longer. And if you live in an environment with no anchor points...like the desert, a winch is useless. I've dug plenty of vehicles out of sand with just a compact shovel, no $300 Maxtrax, no winch, etc.
@@Valkyrie1911 I paid close attention and like I said in my post on this video not keeping water because it will freeze is idiotic. A survival expert can’t melt water all of a sudden ? Not to mention it will thaw in the cab with the heat on. He never forgets something leaving the house ? Was there mention of a way to purify water when and if he forgets his water ? Or will there even be water on his route that he can get to ? he’s lugging around kit he can’t even carry by himself ? I never said you needed 5k in recovery gear, some knuckles, tow rope, ratchet system and boards is $200. A winch is around $400-500 and that’s what board are for if you don’t have a winch and your in the desert. Knowing how to drive ? Are you fucking serious kid ? You think the perfect plan will survive contact with Mother Nature or Murphy. Your whole post screams that you have zero experience and are the exact people these videos are made to fool.
I pulled out a blade to help someone unwrap a package and he said, “You always just walk around with that?” Like it was a hand grenade or something. I said, “ you never know when you’ll need a knife...but you ALWAYS do!”
Couldn't help but grin when you showed off your strong box and it cost more than your pickup. The government sucks but I love my countrymen. Keep up the good work.
"Natural disasters lead to man-made disasters" - while this may sound obvious on the surface, it's a profound statement, simply put. We need to think about both - not as separate events, but interrelated, over-lapping events.
We are ALWAYS 3 days away from anarchy. Those are the 3 days it takes for a child to cry while saying "Mommy, I'm hungry". At that point it won't matter how well you can fight, you won't be given the chance to. A timid little lady you've known for decades will stab you in the f***ing heart to feed her kid...If her bf doesn't shoot you from 300 yards while you're washing out your underwear. You are 3 days away from that. Right. Now. And the ONLY thing keeping that at bay for the last 200 years is agriculture and transportation. Farmers/ranchers and truckers.
Kevin is one of the coolest guys ever. I love that him and mike have been running and gunning for years now. So lucky we get a chance to learn from them
Some of the things that's been invaluable in a vehicle recently has been a good ax, a 16in chainsaw (most trucks have 120ac, so even corded electric work), rope/tackle. Hard to stay in a veh when there's a tree/veh on the road you can't get around.
I also thought like show me the camping gear? Tents, bivvys blankets etc. I also missed a shovel and generally better recovery equipment for the truck (maybe a winch or something) Still friggen cool
Those are must have force multipliers though. I know I'm saving up for my nods now. Indespencible in the right situations for both offensive and defensive purposes.
Love it brother! We have lived in relative stability for a long time here in America, most people think...."that can't happen here!" As if humans are really that different anywhere in the world. Being prepared doesn't make you a crazy vet, vets often have the benefit of having been places where the world is truly shit and no one is coming to help. It can happen here........don't get caught without a chair when the music stops.
So happy that with Fieldcraft's success they are still posting free content. If I wasn't a college student scratching two pennies together I would definitely subscribe to their paid stuff. The knowledge and genuine nature of the organization is worth it.
With all thats going on, you dont ever have to apologize for having that awesome loadout and box. Gives us all something to aspire to! Keep up the great content!
One tip. If you use those plastic bins in the cold, they shatter easy (know this from many camping trips). Simply duct taping the corners helps prevent that. Otherwise use Rubbermaid bins. Great video.
Love to see you guys do a vehicle setup for city areas. Impassable roads due to traffic etc. Blending into the environment while you get home etc. Overall great info.
Just make sure you have it stored properly, and stable, for longer term storage. Full containers, so that water vapor doesn't contaminate the fuel. It's a pain to keep rotating it (using it up, because fuel does degrade over time) and restocking it, but it's pretty good insurance. Times of disruption, for any given reason, fuel deliveries just don't happen. Time and again, within 3 days, stations are out of fuel.
Great info. For Leo boxes we put two holes in box...will chain thru bottom of box around frame in trunk or locking point in truck... Box needs to be open to unlock peyway chain, and quick to put in and out... love channel and content, thanks for sharing.
LOVE THIS GUY.. Tough as NAILS through knowledge and EXPERIENCE.. The ULTIMATE American, brought to you by attracting the BEST people to the BEST place.
Thanks Kevin! Thank you for your service! I like being prepared and if folks think we’re crazy so be it,I really like that you’re showing me equipment that is within my budget because I’m on a fixed one. Definitely would like to know more about that box. Have a fantastic rest of the weekend everyone
Hey, I really like that Walmart roller bin solution. I was about to say, how’s he gonna get those back bins out? Crawling underneath the platform would suck. The rope tied to the bed of the truck. That’s some McGuyver shit! Stay safe Kevin!
Like it! I do keep a 6 pack of water in my Jeep all the time, even in the winter, fortunately the bottles expand as the water freezes and I have never had a leak come summer. I like to keep them because I can always cut away the bottle and melt the ice.
I have most things I would need but the big issue is keeping it organized and having it ready to go. I like the big bags and first aid backpack on the seat.
Awesome dog and truck! Thanks for sharing your knowledge sir! Btw, trading stuff and owning "lesser" (=previous gen) equipments is a great way to balance economics and capabilities.
Awesome can't wait for the follow up videos. On a side note, please don't close a revolver like that, it may look cool but you can bend the crane that way.
I noticed both Mike and Kevin have low key trucks. No fancy dodads bolted all over screaming “over lander”. Could just be another ranch truck. The more accessories on the outside the more notable it is. The totes are a great item, quick in or out in seconds. The only other thing I need is a beautiful shepherd. Thanks Kevin
Very logical and complete - thanks for sharing. A few questions: 1. How many people are bugging out in your vehicle? You and dog, or more? 2. How are you carrying water, jerry cans, a larger tank, or other? 3. How is your dog provisioned? 4. The Maxim truck gun looks great; did you consider running an AK, and if so what pushed you to pick the Maxim?
For Bugging out, a ghille suit is perfect. 1. Keep you warm a lil and also sleeping, you’re basically hidden so you can sleep without worrying about anyone seeing you or if you have to ditch your pack you can use ghille to cover it up and come back later
That box is the shit!! And also Kevin is a badass in my opinion with the whole Irish thing going prior to be special forces in USA.. badass dude and he seems more realistic then some guys I like that.. Mike is like that too..really admire these guys..
Great information...just got a Tacoma had a Durango for 22.5 yrs so in the process of deciding what is needed and needing to get storage box...less inside space with the Tacoma
"to upgrade your situation"... fantastic way of looking at things. Great vid and very much like your dog, or that dog you have working with you, cheers.
I was just thinking about the unfortunate person that try’s to take Kevin’s gear from his truck right before he says “if someone steals his truck” haha. Awesome simple info! Thanks for the video 🍻
Everything going on right now, people thought I was crazy for saying it would happen, that was 5 years ago... I've been bugging out in my truck for 5 years now, I love it, and I'm always prepared. Stay vigilant yall
I just got some custom Skanda car seat covers from Coverking - the whole backside is covered in MOLLE webbing. Next best option to the Fieldcraft mobility bag, I'd say. I'm considering adding a mobility bag on top of the driver side cover...appreciate your insights, Kevin. Invaluable to see how other people do things, to make informed decisions about our own tactics and strategies.
It's like with any load out you build up overtime and plan , and modify as you go , this guy clearly has experience and practices and trains, and has system what fits where, when to use what using Walmart bins are smart ,
Far as the truck goes any car made after 2012 has those damn computers in them brother, & they can control your vehicle 100%. Now they are many instances. But one of the more sinister accounts was in the CAL Paradise "fires" & for miles you see vehicles parked perfectly on the side of the road. People dont do that in chaotic scenarios, the cars were taken over & Im sure those victims were locked in not able to get out. Long story, if you want to know more look up Jamie Lee & his work. Thanks for the video brother, your videos are a good help. Take care
Two points to make based on what Kevin says. 1. Natural disasters can lead to man-made disasters. Just think if the freeze in Texas kept the power out for a month or was across the country, then what would people do for power, food, and clean water? It would be like Black Friday at Walmart everyday. 2. Tool. I don't hear discussion about tools. Not your Gerber multi-tool but a basic box of tools like a small socket wrench set, pliers, screw drivers, tin snips, baling wire, jumper cables (Kevin mentions these), etc. If you're using your vehicle, you're gonna need these for repair or to adapt.
