Yep. I'm sure everyone agrees these movies have flaws, but nothing is perfect and I'd rather hear someone talk about the parts they love instead of harbor on the parts they hated. Kevin is the only person I go to for a review. Anyone else always has something dumb to complain about that I couldn't care less about lol that's the fundamental issue with movie reviews in general. Kevin works around this by simply telling people his favorite parts, then leaving it up to the individual whether they're interested in seeing the movie or not.

You're both right. Older folks are comfortable with the suspension of disbelief required to believe Clark and Superman are different. They didn't grow up with a litany of examples. Superman was more or less the first; there was no Justice, League or Avengers, to say nothing of the myriad of other examples across comics, movies, and TV. Additionally, life and technology were different, in more ways than one (more on that in a sec). TL;DR The glasses thing worked on the older generation (when they were kids, mind you) because conditions were different and there was no plethora of examples to look for crap like that. MJ comes from a different world, one where children are inadvertently conditioned to look for "comic booky stuff" by the aforementioned myriad of examples. Additionally, while the heroes as a whole and some individual feats are of course spectacular, life and technology have raised the bar of expectation. MJ lives in a world where people can do a lot of things superheroes can, so there's no sense of wonder. And I realize that that has nothing to do with things like Peter not even trying to disguise his voice in Homecoming when he was talking to MJ as Spider-Man. It does, however, speak to her (and therefore the young moviegoers') ability / willingness to to believe his declination (suspend their disbelief). TL;DR It's not a misdirect ; it's an evolution in characterization that is representative of a different world in which we now live

@@subman23 I believe all of that. I guess I should have qualified that the misdirection I was referring to might have been part of the larger illusion that Mysterio could be orchestrating. It feels like the fact it's in the trailer could turn out to be a 'gotcha' moment, especially since the line right before it is Peter Parker admiting to Quentin Beck what he wants to say to MJ. I think the trailer moment might be a misdirect for the audience as part of Peter's wish fulfillment. It might not be though. I hope the scene is playing it straight. We'll see.
